Just bought a Sony A80J and I'm greeted with giant ads when I'm on my personal gmail profile, not on my Google Workspace account. Any reason why ? If you have tips on how to disable this I'll take it !

Just download F-launcher from the play store and use that instead. Regular Google TV launcher is aids.

The only method that met my need for this was replacing the launcher. I prefer Projectivy (no root or adp commands required) but there are a bunch out there.

Up to a couple of months ago, you only got “ads” for the upcoming programs from the various streaming apps. It was not that bad, in a way sort of useful to suggest you what to watch. Then they started with pure ads and that’s a whole different level.

Still country specific but I fear it will move to all main markets.

On your regular account this is just the new normal. On the latest Google/Android TV launcher they spam you with ads that fill almost all the screen.

The reason why you don't see this on your Workspace account, is because I belive they don't do tracking on enterprise accounts. Therefore, there are no personalized ads for them to serve you.

Block the ad servers with your router

Screw the ads, You need a bigger cabinet, a small bump on the TV and there goes the investment....

Ya we are all stuck with ads even with shield pro $250 dollers android box has ads now and use launchers to get rid of them f+#$en assholes

PapasanPower

If you have pihole try blacklisting androidtvwatsonfe-pa.googleapis.com . I believe this is for recommendation that show on top. YOu might have to clear the cache and data of the Home Screen.

Look into launchers and a launcher manager. You can search here or any of the Nvidia shield subs. Plenty of information. (A launcher is a new home-page UI that's very different from what you see. Some are better than others.

You can also remove updates of the Google TV home app. Then you need to disable auto updates in the Play Store. Works better than a different launcher for me.

  1. Make new google account for the TV only

  2. PiHole

There's "apps only mode"

My YouTube Premium account is linked to my personal gmail which I use for everything. This one show giant ads (not movie recommendations, but perfume ads). Using my Google Workspace account, I only have movie recommendations which is fine. It's driving me crazy to have ads this big on a high end TV like this. I anyone knows what's up or how to remove ads I'll take it. Most things I found online are for older versions of Android TV.

I also know about Apps only mode, which helps but still removes some features.

Thanks !

Yeah, get an Apple TV and No More Adds. I have the same tv plus a90j. TVs are incredible!

I won't update my Nvidia shield for this reason.

It doesn't matter if you signed in or have it in app mode only, you still will have a big banner.

Best thing is just to get another launcher, I'm using Flauncher and deleted the main launcher.

There is an Apps Only option somewhere in the settings.

Get Pihole or Diversion (Asus Merlin)

Hello, check in settings if the TV is set To "Store" or something like that, this ads are usually when they have the TV displays and constantly showing images, set it to "Home Use".

Jesus, how much time do you spend looking at the home screen for this to be an issue. 😂
