Cannot select ARC audio output when using an adapter

by Ramin11

I have a Hisense U6H Google TV and am unable to change the audio output. The only option that isnt greyed out is the standard output. I cannot select ARC. My setup is as follows: TV>ARC-HDMI adapter>External speakers. I'm thinking that the adapter might be the issue. The TV is automatically directing all audio to the ARC connection except from certain apps (mainly Kodi). Anyone have any ideas?

Are files you are playing with Kodi surround sound. Do you have passthrough enabled?

Hmmm it does sound like the adapter is the issue but are you sure you need ARC?

ARC is Audio Return Channel used in some configurations when you need to send audio back towards the source (your TV). If you've just got TV -> Speakers, then there is no need for ARC and bog standard HDMI would carry your audio just fine.
