Hello, i have a very very old non-smart samsung TV. Recently i bought a 5.1 surround system which is called Sony HTS-20R, but every time i try to use 5.1 audio i have got no sound. So here is the how i connected all the cables in place and what's my settings are; I have connected Mi stick to the TV through HDMI port and connected the surround system to the TV via using spdif port. And i have choosed audio source as external speaker through TV settings, when i am using PCM setting from Mi Stick everything works great there are no problem but when i choose DTS in order to use 5.1 sound i have got no audio.
So i thought maybe it's about my TV being old and can't decode the DTS, so i bought and hdmi to hdmi audio extractor. So here is the how i connected all the cables in place and what's my settings are; I have connected Mi stick to the "HDMI in" section on the audio adapter and connected HDMI out section to the TV via using another HDMI cable and connected "audio out" section to the surround system. Lastly i have switched to the 5.1 channel from the audio adapter, again when i am using PCM from mi stick i have audio there are no problems but when i choose DTS there is no audio.
Is anyone can help me please? what am i doing wrong?
List of equipment that i am using, Old samsung TV, Mi stick, Sony HTS-20R and Alfais 4365 Hdmi To Hdmi adapter. And please excuse my language, english is not my native language.
What and where are you trying to watch that uses DTS audio?
I assume you're watching Blu-ray remuxes on kodi/plex/vlc etc, is the app properly configured to pass through DTS?
Do you also have android set to "passthrough" surround sound?
Edit: Your home cinema doesn't support DTS, just Dolby Digital, Dolby Dual mono, LPCM 2 channels.
I remember looking at this kit, wondering why it was so cheap and reaching this conclusion.
