I have a TCL R646 series 6.
Chain is optical cable to DAC to stereo amplifier.
Volume is VERY low on most video streaming apps. Causing me to increase the volume of the amplifier to what would normally be VERY loud.
Volume is normal on YouTube, Pandora, and Spotify. On Netflix if the title allows switching from 5.1 to stereo the volume becomes VERY loud.
DAC and amplifier are not at fault. This was not a problem with a old Roku box and volume leveling.
Audio output is set to ARC
In advanced settings digital audio out is set to PCM which reads "select pcm to only deliver uncompressed stereo over ARC or eARC"
well that's not happening in Netflix, HBO max, or the native media player when watching downloaded videos.
I assume the optical cable is carrying a 5.1 signal to a stereo DAC and amplifier. Something overrides pcm stereo and is sending multichannel audio.
Well I don't want that.
I want what the setting reads - uncompressed stereo via pcm.
I updated to the lastest Google tv today. Still no change.
Audio shouldnt be set to ARC.
Or at the very least, settings meant for ARC shouldnt be expected to apply to anything but ARC. ARC is HDMI. Not optical.
Maybe your TV has another setting for optical. Good luck.
