Can't sign in to google account

by Kindly_Conflict_1145

Merry Christmas everyone I am trying to help my parents to sign in to their Google account on their Phillips Smart TV. The problem is that when I sign in it says that the password is incorrect. I have tried with multiple accounts but nothing helps. I even get the email that my account got added to a new device but still it says incorrect password.I have also tried to factory restore the tv. Does anyone have any Idea on how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance

Sign in with your own Google Account and then figure out what what’s wrong with your parents Account.

I have no idea of the particulars but on one device I saw when setting it up it offered an option to select to use an Android phone somehow to transfer the google account information and the wifi ssid / password to the device to facilitate setup instead of entering that manually. Maybe it is also supported on your device in some way, I don't know, maybe you'd have to reset the device to get to that setup step option.

Actually factory resetting the TV device may not be a bad idea.

Two other thoughts:

1: I had some trouble entering some information in the setup of one device once, I forget if it was the wifi stuff or the login / password stuff. But anyway I reset the device, let it update its OS or whatever update it found and tried again and it didn't give the error message again. I had used it partially successfully before the update started but then had that problem. So reset + update if possible.

2: I've seen too many devices with really stupid bugs around account names and passwords e.g. not CaSe SensItIvE properly so something doesn't work right if you use mixed case or all upper or all lower or something. Also sometimes (hah!) "special characters" don't work on one device even though they work fine on other devices so check your /!+=!@#$%^%&^&(**{}() etc etc. And sometimes ridiculously there's some arbitrary length limit on some device even though it's perfectly correct on other devices and you really do have a 30 or whatever character password it'll totally fail to work on some device if it is more than 8, 10, 12, whatever characters. Who knows.
