Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite vs Xiaomi TV Stick 4K

by arnob2161

I have a very basic 768p HD TV (32 inch) with no HDR, dolby etc. It will be used for IP TV, youtube. In my country (Bangladesh) Fire TV Stick Lite is around $30 and Xiaomi TV Stick 4k is around $50. Should I really spend the extra 20$ for a 4k device which will not give me any additional benefit other than having different OS?

Xaiomi 4K has better hardware and will future proof you if you decide to get a new TV. You can add the apps you want as well.

If the additional $20. is in your budget.. get the Xaiomi.

I think you will have better long term support with the Fire Stick.

Kodi_Fan_Omicron
  • Xiaomi 4K Stick has 2GB of Ram > Amazon FireTV Stick "Lite" has only 1GB of Ram
  • Xiaomi less bloated home-screen > Amazon home-screen a bloated AD filled mess
  • Xiaomi use androidtv 11 > FireTV "Lite" stick uses a modified/lockdown androidtv 9

So, YES spend the extra money to get the Xiaomi.

AndroidTV 11 is not perfect, but in this scenario of "Xiaomi 4K stick vs. FireTV LITE stick" then my recommendation would still be Xiaomi.

I have the Xiaomi 4k and really like it, works very good is clean no bloatware, once in a while just some wifi issues but not often.

The downside is the missing match framerate switch... to my use case (plex) I'm having some motion issues yet, but I'm very sensitive to it not everyone is. Its start to bother now after I change the tv, before was much less noticeable.

Im thinking in get the fire tv 4k max since it have the AFR. But I never had one before because I don't like the Amazon fork and experience.

My experience with Xiaomi have been very good. I could install apps using adb remote only due the play store protection but with adb is fine.

I would highly recommend staying away from any of Amazon's Firesticks. I had one less than a year ago and got rid of it for an Onn 4k box. I understand it's not an option, so go with the Xiaomi. Amazon has been cracking down on 3rd party launchers and forcing people to use their bloated launcher. If you're looking to make your device more futureproof, go with something that will let you mod it

I personally own both, with a similar TV. My recommendation? Get the Fire TV Stick for the best for your money. It runs about as smooth, and have better customer service than Xiaomi. But if you want a more premium experience, get the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K. It features Power and Volume, and (for better or worse) less buttons. The CCwGTV HD is also a decent pick, for the input button on the remote.

Went with Xiaomi TV Stick 4k and it feels awesome so far :)

Playing (hardware decode) HEVC or H.265 files is the biggest advantage of getting the 4K sticks. I don't know any 1080p stick (barring google chromecast) that supports it. If you 'acquire' files outside of streaming services, HEVC/H.265 support is highly recommended.
