Chromecasting Netflix without signing into the AndroidTV app?

I recently bought a Hisense 58H6550E with AndroidTV on it (8.0 / Oreo I believe), and I've mostly been using it for the Chromecast functionalities, so I've not logged into it with my Google account, or logged into any of the apps (like Netflix) with any of my information.

This has seemed to work fine -- I can cast YouTube videos from my phone, Hulu videos, etc, and they all cast fine, passing along my account information to the Chromecast flawlessly.

When I try to cast Netflix from my phone, however, I get the message "Both devices must be signed in with the same Netflix account" from the iOS app, a message I can't even seem to Google with any results.

Now granted, the Netflix app on my AndroidTV does prompt me to "Sign in" when I load it up, but I want it to work seamlessly like Youtube / Hulu does. When I cast Netflix to standalone Chromecast devices plugged into another one of my TVs it works this way without me needing to "sign in" on the Chromecast, and there has been times where friends come over and cast Netflix to our TV, so having to log into my account on the TV wouldn't work for those cases anyways.

Is there any way around this? Has anyone else ran into this?

Android TV on a budget

I have around £20 to spend so I am guessing I would need a cheap eBay one or something, however having stock Android TV is a must for me, so does anyone know/recommend any Chinese boxes which can be easily rooted/flashed with custom firmware?

Wonder why Chrome Remote Desktop doesn't work on my Bravia?

I have a Win 10 NUC hard wired into my network. I open the Chrome browser on my Bravia and install the Chrome Remote Desktop extension but when I try to connect through my Pixelbook it never opens. Eventually it says something about disconnecting all extensions. I'm not doing that so I give up and uninstall. The old app version worked well on my old "stupid" TV but the new web version doesn't work on my new "smart" TV.

AirTV Mini (Hide Sling)

Hi All:

I was able to hide Sling app, and stop it (mostly) from auto-booting, thought I would share:

ADB Shell ->" pm disable-user --user 0 com.sling.airtvmini"

I then downloaded Launch on Boot and selected an App (Plex) to start, becuase otherwise it shows the Sling Splash Screen, and appears to freeze looking for the app to launch, launch on boot worked to by pass it (did not work w/o disabling the app above).

If anyone has a way to just launch into the home screen instead of app, that would be appreciated.

Is Xiaomi tvbox S still worth getting in 2019? Or I should go for others?

Currently what's next on my list is Beelink Gt King, though the air mouse reportedly has issue.

Not a gamer at all nor my family members do, Nvidia Shield is not on top of my list.

Now, it's 2019 and Xiaomi hasn't pushed out a newer version tvbox.. is that still worth getting considering the price of ~$55 in my country? Is the specs good enough?

Netflix on unsupported Android TV device

Hi,

I recently got a MAG425A box, I'm looking for a way to get Netflix working. I managed to sideload it by installing it via the APK, however, the app shuts me down as the device is not officially supported by Netflix. The MAG425A is a premium android TV box so I'm sure it should work technically.

MAG 425A : https://www.infomir.eu/eng/products/android-stb/mag425A/

How can I tweak either my device software or the Netflix APK. I'm sure there should be a line of code which is tweakable, just need to find a way to do it.

Any ideas? Online tutorials?

Many thanks

Netflix Atmos on MI Box/Shield TV - works with Kodi

Even if you have the proper atmos AVR with in-ceiling speakers, it all boils down to whether if streaming services would like certifying the android box as compatible for atmos. Customers shouldn't be the victims of a trade war between two companies and that's where the netflix input stream for kodi comes into play.

Here's the link :

https://github.com/CastagnaIT/plugin.video.netflix https://github.com/castagnait/repository.castagnait/raw/master/repository.castagnait-1.0.0.zip

Relevant kodi thread : https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=329767

Any movie that shows up as DOLBY-HD on kodi means it can play atmos. I verified with my denon x3300w and can confirm that it works. Its not True HD atmos, but DD+ atmos. So, it's a compressed audio file but it's better than nothing.

Kodi is not usually layman friendly and the netflix input stream doesn't have a full fledged UI, but it plays movies better than the native netflix app.

Mi box s, still worth or wait out?

I just want something that's able to stream Netflix, and able to mirror my phone or computer to my TV, but I've seen comments on how sometimes it's buggy and such, I just want something that's easy to use and won't cause much issues, usb to ethernet doesn't seem like such a big deal breaker, I can just order a ugreen one off aliexpress

On one hand the mi box s has old ish hardware? And shield has somewhat better hardware but are those stuff even necessary for just streaming and my use case? The mi box s price tag is a little easier to swallow compared to the Nvidia shield

As long as it works 90% of the time, I'll be fine with it, so should I get it?

Edit: got the mi box s after comments saying it works great with the latest update, and it does! Netflix works great at 1080p which is fine even though I have a 4k TV, although I'm now still finding some apps for iptv

Does the Hisense H8F series read NTFS Drives?

Trying to find out if the Hisense H8F tv series can read a NTFS drive for files on it.

Update 07/29/2019: Purchased a 50H8F from BestBuy. Can confirm it read files from a NTFS drive, used a 4TB WD.

However only the default media player reads files. Apps like Kodi or VLC can see the drive but not access it. This is most likely due to a bug in Oreo, as seen in other discussions.

Video freezes in the netflix app while sound continues

From time to time I experience this problem in my nvidia shield: the video in the netflix app freezes while the audio continues.

If I close netflix and open it again, when I try to play a video, there's sound but no image. I have to kill the netflix app (home button twice, close netflix) to fix it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Wechip remote and Mi box

I bought this remote pretty sure it was going to work with my Xiaomi Mi Box (UK version, not the newer S model).

WeChip Mini Air Fly Mouse Remote 2.4G Motion Sensing Controller with Keyboard for Android TV Box/PC/TV https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07F8SXHJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1wkpDbZ2PN6H8

But on plugging the receiver into the mi box I get no response.

Plug it into a Win10 laptop and the remote works perfectly.

Anyone have this remote working with a Mi box, am I missing something when getting this working with androidtv?

My normal mi box bluetooth remote works fine but I wanted a remote that had a keyboard and air mouse.

RESOLVED ### switched off developer options (usb debugging probably causing the non working of USB) and all working! Apologies for wasting time and thanks for the comments

Cheers

MIBox IR codes

Given the MIBox supports infrared remotes I'd like to know if there are any other remotes it understands beyond the "MIBox" remote codes?

I'm not interested in actually getting the remote, but being able to add it to my Logitech remote would be great. In particular I was hoping for something with a full set of keyboard inputs.

Sports apps like ESPN and FoxSports are choppy, skipping, and not smooth at all.

Hello, just purchased a new Hisense H8F 4kTV a few weeks ago. I downloaded the ESPN and FoxSports app to watch my favorite sports. Although they all load perfectly fine and the quality is good, the playback is not smooth at all. You can notice the video skipping, and overall it does not show a smooth playback. I tested my FireTV 4k stick to see if the ESPN app on Amazon had the same issue but it does not have any issues. Was wondering if anyone has encounter the issue, and if anyone has a solution. Thank you.
