Looking to get the Mi Box (2GBRAM/8GB) for mainly Terrarium TV and Reddit streams. Is this the ideal Android TV box? Does the box run well when streaming Buffstreams or any of the NBA/NFL/UFC streams when using Google Chrome browser? If not I'm might get the Tanix TX28 TV (4GBRAM/32GB)

I bought one Xiaomi Mi Box 3 last Friday but I can't watch Netflix in 4K mode.

My MiBox has Android Oreo and I have settled screen resolution to 4k2k-30hz.

When I access Netflix, I can't see Ultra 4k HD icon, only HD icon. I really don't know why, cause I can see YouTube in 4K mode with this screen resolution config.

Of course, I have Netflix Ultra Premium plan and I can see Netflix in 4K resolution in other TVs but not with this Xiaomi Mi Box.

I tried to change resolution to similar but I still can't see Netflix in 4K.

Has anyone same problem as me?

Does the Google assistant only suck on the MiBox or just in general in Android TV? For those who have an Nvidia shield, how's the Google assistant? Does it understand well, is it slow, fast etc?

I instruct Google assistant to play some music in Deezer and it says that it isn't available in my country. I have a premium account on Deezer, app is installed and it is available here.

When I just say play some rap, my mi box starts playing a specific playlist in Spotify. I have no app installed, it isn't available in my country, nor I have a premium account (I used to have it, couple of months back).

What the hell is going on?

Anyone know an app that does this and works with Oreo. I was using Rotation Launcher but it won't work with Oreo.

Have seen some comments on G Play Store against other apps suggesting this is no longer possible with Oreo OS?

Need it for side loaded phone centric apps e.g. ITV Hub and All 4, both UK TV apps.

I see all these posts of complaints and issues and I can't relate. I seen them before I updated, I did not take the OTA but factory reset and flashed update in recovery and I have only had minor issues with it. Compared to all previous versions.... Oreo is hands down the best. My box is sooo much faster, Assistant actually WORKS. Youtube is flawless. I actually can use my device now as opposed to the brick I had before waiting for the update.

I'm looking to pickup a non 4k mibox for a spare bedroom that has a 1080p set.

Can someone tell me what 1080p mibox models I should be looking for either new or used

So I picked up a cheap we 4tb portable hdd and I had mibox format it as internal storage as it's the only way I can really get it to useful on the devices as I'm having terrarium download movies and shows for offline viewing in case the internet goes down etc. But the mibox only shows it as a 1.6tb drive instead of 4.

Pre format is shows correctly but I can't set terrarium or adm to it's location to download stuff from terrarium that way.

Any ideas or just another bug within Oreo?

I had very minor annoyances with Oreo nothing that I haven't found some sort of work around for but I'll list below and tell my work around.

Audio issues surround sound is internmittent at best but only way I can get audio back when it goes away is to factory reset and it's no specific time when the surround sound will go out again. So disabling Dolby and turning surround off works for me. However many people say it does nothing for them.

Audio after sleep or standby goes away. If I flip source away from the mibox and then back it bring audio back for me.

Weird display degridation after sleep. Three ways to fix. Flip source away from mibox and back. Or goto display and and reset the resolution or reboot the box.

I have submitted an email with my issues to xaoumi but this hdd one is new and haven't sent a email regarding that yet.

I have a Sony Bravia TV. The remote doesn't have a built in microphone (but I have USB microphone hooked up to the TV) which means I can't summon Google Assistant from wherever I am in the interface. However, when hooking up a Bluetooth keyboard to the TV I discovered that the "Windows" key activates the Assistant. I tried looking at different keymapper apps in hopes of simulating a Windows-key press with one of the buttons on the remote but haven't succeeded in doing so. Do anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how?

Another problem I have is that the Assistants language keeps changing to English (UK) forcing me to change back to English(US) every few minutes or so. The TV's language is set to English, though I live in Denmark. Does anyone know a way to fix this so the assistants language is permanently fixed to English(US)?

Is anyone able to view Electric Dreams in UHD? Supposedly it's "real 4k" but I can only get it to stream in 1080p.

I'm actually having trouble finding anything in 4K with the ShieldTV Prime Video app. Was only able to find a single UHD Indian movie other than UHD movies for purchase.

I am looking for a box for my pragmatic brother who doesn't like to spend cash on electronics as much as i do. Pitching him a Shield is futile, yet the FireTV Stick i got him hooked with is noticeably underperforming (to me at least) and has this awful OS.

I have scouted Amazon for something in between and found many offers, mostly chinese no-names, and many different configurations and processors that don't ring a bell. Got burned enough with cheap android phones shipping with ad-ware and such .. but i know theres always a dime in a dozen if you know what to look for.

Which ones are worth checking out?

Any ideas? The Mi Box is not even finding the gamepad when trying to pair. I have 2 of them. I also have a shield and finds it ok on there.

Matricom is the only that I have heard consistently that work with mi box. Even the first review on Amazon says it works. So I'm a bit baffled why it won't even find it. Anyone who encountered similar issue?

What other gamepads are you using, works with Mi box?

I'd like to use the voice search in a different language than the UI.

In the previous version it worked fine (mibox androidtv 6.0), now, since it got the update to oreo, it ignores the "voice search" language setting, and searchs using the UI language

2nd UPDATE: Fixed. These 4 apps have returned with new update

The latest update of the Comedy Central Android App removed support for Android TV. WTH? No notice, and no comment in the release notes. I just noticed that the app was missing from my launcher, and when I went to the Play Store on my TV, it wouldn't come up under search. I went to the web Play Store, and it showed as not compatible with my Shield TV.

Then I checked the other Viacom apps. MTV, VH1 & BET were all removed too. Only the Nick app remains.

This is troubling, and I hope it doesn't become a pattern for this or other companies. It had felt like more apps were showing up recently, so this is discouraging.

Update July 8th I received an update from the DEV last night, and it's surprisingly positive. It's still corporate speak, and won't directly say when Android TV support will return, it sounds as if it will. Text below.

Developer response: This is Comedy Central App Support - Really appreciate the feedback Roy. We believe we've found an underlying issue with our latest Android release that appears to be causing issues for some Android TV users. Note that we're working on an Open Beta and this beta should be available shortly from our Comedy Central App page on Google Play.

Update 2 July 8, 2018 Comedy Central app updated today on my Shield TV. App returned. Also MTV, BET & VH1 are showing up again on search in Play Store on TV, and show compatible with Shield on web Play Store. Apps have an updated interface too.
