Mx player ac3 and dts custom codec for mi box install guide.

I was having trouble installing the codec because even though mx player told me to install the arm7 neon codec it didn't work. So instead I tried the AIO version and that worked fine for some reason.

Step 1. Download the AIO codec

Step 2. Send file from your Android device to mibox using Bluetooth

Step 3. Go to settings > decoder > custom codec in mx player. Navigate to Bluetooth folder and select zip

Step 3b. alternatively you can copy paste your AIO file to the download folder and mx player will detect it automatically.

Step 4. Successfull installation

FYI this was for my international version 4k mibox which I bought from AliExpress.

WatchESPN app: bad picture quality

I bought a Sony bravia xbr65x750d a couple of weeks ago. I'm very disappointed with the picture quality of the espn app. It seems awfully pixelated. I also use PS vue. If I watch espn on that the quality is much better. Is there anything I can do?

Is there any way to shutdown the Xiaomi Mi Box?

By default the power button will put it into sleep mode but by going into the settings menu and setting it to "shutdown" in Power key definition, you would only get a reboot option when you press the power key.

How would you completely shut the unit down?

Any way to 'screen share' MiBox to laptop?

Is there any way to set up my MiBox over some kind of VNC or screensharing connection? I would like to be able to configure it from laptop without having to dim lights, open screen, turn on projector, waste bulb hours... Do not have a TV/monitor.

I tried TeamViewer but it did not work.

(This was asked here but none of those solutions are viable.)

There are also discussions at XDA and Stack Exchange but nothing has worked for me so far.

We've been working on the Vimeo TV app for the past few months and we'd love feedback

It's been about 5 months in the making with pretty limited resources but we managed to pull a beta of our app together. It's something we're all very proud of and we tried to not half ass yet another app on the Android TV app store.

We wanted to put together an experience that has the look and feel of Android TV but with a little more flair. If you're interested in trying it out, please follow the instructions below. Unfortunately they don't make betas on TV as easy as on mobile.

  1. On web or mobile, opt in to the beta of our app by finding it in the play store and clicking the join beta button or opt in directly through this testing link
  2. Go to the Vimeo play store listing in a browser (not the play store app). It should say the app name is "Vimeo (Beta)". Click the "Install" or "Installed" button. This should give you the option to choose which device to download the app on.
  3. Pick your Android TV device from the list
  4. It should show up on your Android TV within 5 minutes

Some more info about the app if you're interested: Our designer on the project came up with this concept of "blooming" of the information cards. The cards expand with more info the closer you get to them with the varying levels of selection. We'd love to know how you feel about it.

I also highly recommend creating an account (which is totally free) since a lot of the best features of the app require being logged in. To get you started, I recommend checking out some of these awesome channels!

Thanks!

P.S. We've got tons of other cool features we're planning to add over the next year so hang tight for more cool stuff.

AndroidTV Devs: Designer looking to collaborate

Hello all! I apologise if this is the wrong subreddit to post in.

I'm a UI/UX designer looking to collaborate on AndroidTV projects. If any developers have ideas they'd like to see come to light please PM me for portfolio info or just to bounce some ideas off :)

My preferred project would be an IPTV app that takes m3u8 lists and turns them into a delightful EPG. But i'm also open to working on other projects.

I'm not looking for paid work here! Looking to create fun + useful tools for the community and users that solve our big screen issues. Free + paid versions of apps are something i'd be interested in, regardless, it's not really about money for me.

MiBox remote with Kodi: change button behavior?

I noticed that with the MiBox remote, while playing video fullscreen, if I press the center button, it pops up the UI. But if I hold the center button, it pauses/plays (like "enter" on keyboard.)

Is there any way to reverse this behavior? It seems more natural to me to use a quick press of center button to pause/play.

Also borked

I am also having similar issues. Funny thing is, I side loaded the tablet version and it worked fine. There are a couple of things I am currently wondering...

Although I bought the device in the US, I am streaming with it in Canada. Wonder if Netflix is getting confused with my Canadian IP.

Since the TV app is supposed to stream in higher quality, Netflix is pickier on the device it runs on and checks DRM, which may even run as deep as the HDMI connection. I.e. if a well negotiated connection with the TV is not established, it drops the stream. I'll be able to test this soon.

Any other insights?

Hulu Ads

Has anyone had an issue with Hulu on the Mi Box? Mine will randomly lock up when starting an ad. The progress circle shows up on the top left but the ad doesn't start. I have to back out of the app and go back in and watch the ad, then a few seconds of what I already saw, then another ad. This doesn't happen every time I watch but it happens enough to be an issue for me.

I contacted Hulu support on Twitter and was told they don't support the Mi Box and that I needed to contact Xiaomi directly. Not sure why I'd contact a manufacturer for an app issue.

I've tried factory resetting and it hasn't fixed anything.

Android TV with Google Home?

Hello all! I have a Sony XBR65X850C and just purchased a Google Home. I'm unable to use the Home to control the TV (I mainly care about sending videos to cast and voice controls of those videos). I know this is because the current cast version of the tv set is 1.19(and some change), and that Google Home requries the version to be at 1.21.

What I am not sure about is how often Android TV sets receive cast version updates... If it is only periodically- when Sony pushes larger firmware updates- I am going to be waiting quite some time for support. It might not ever come.

Has anybody else had any luck with Google Home + Android TV?

Should I just go out and buy a Chromecast Ultra and disable the cast functions of the set itself?

EDIT: Thanks to 513. Run your play store updates fellow idiots!

ELI5: Question on sideloading difference b/w Android Box and Android TV

I just recently got the Mi Box and trying to sideload apps made me realize that most of the apps require a keyboard/mouse combo to control properly. However, from what I hear, Android Box is just running (old) versions of Android and while it's not elegant, the remote can control the apps that you can install on the OS (which is presumably all apps on Android) and do everything without a keyboard/mouse. How can this be? Why doesn't Android TV remotes as capable as Android Boxes?
