Edit: After some thinking I might know what's causing the issue. Since some audio is still bleeding out through the HDMI signal to the TV, the TV might be trying to parse the audio and either screwing things up with the stick or the extractor. Thus it makes sense why DTS is unaffected, Samsung doesn't play it. I can't find a way to disable audio from the normal TV menu, but will try and check if this can be fixed through the service menu.
Hello, I got an HDMI extractor to use with the Mi Stick 4K with an old Samsung DD/DTS receiver through an optical cable and I thought everything was peachy but soon realised that any time I playing Stereo LPCM or Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 (both from apps or local files on Kodi/MX Player) the audio cuts off for a millisecond every 5 seconds, however DTS works perfectly.
If I plug the optical cable directly from the TV to the receiver and let the TV passthrough, Dolby and LPCM work fine with the receiver, but then I don't get DTS (because Samsung TVs after 2017 don't support DTS passing through).
I have dozens of blu-ray remuxes with pcm/lpcm, ac3 dolby digital and later versions of dolby and the same happens with all of them if I'm passing audio through the extractor, but works fine if it's the TV passingthrough.
Before I realised it was the issue was with the formats, I got a new optical cable and the issue stayed the same. I've spent hours testing multiple settings on the TV, Mi Stick and receiver to no avail.
At first I thought it's some sort of handshake issue with the Mi Stick 4K doing some sort of poor software conversion or sending the wrong bitrate, but the more I think, the hdmi extractor might be faulty? Or does the Mi Stick 4K rely on the TV to process DD? (Is that a thing at all?)
Thanks for any potential clues you might have, it's been tough to google about it since you mostly get DD+ threads.
I purchased an OTG USB hub with power passthrough to add external storage to the ONN Box.
Despite other posts indicating this device reads NTFS drives no problem, I can't for the life of me get it to work. I've tried a 256MB flash drive and a 1TB external drive with no luck on NTFS or exFat. It registers the drives in storage but I get a notification that it's an unsupported format and I can't access its contents. I've toggled USB debugging and installed apps like MLUSB Mounter to no avail.
The only thing that has worked is formatting to FAT32, which is useless for me due to the file size limit.
How are there posts claiming this works while others like myself can't get it to work? Does this box read NTFS drives or not?
EDIT: Thank you all for your answers. If you want to help and have an Android TV device, please check your Google's permissions and let me know if it looks like the screenshots above. I just want to know if every manufacturer uses the same shotgun-approach to connecting your Google Account, or if an alternative exists. Thank you.
OP: I understand it needs some level of access to use the Google Play store, but it looks scary on the permissions page since it's the only third-party app that has full access, the rest are OK with "some account access".
Also YouTube seems to need its own access anyway, and it's pretty much the only Google app I use there.
Does every Android TV look like this? Can I get away with allowing it *less* access to my account? Would a dedicated Android TV box also need full access?
EDIT 2: Turns out the device ALSO shows up with a warning in Google's Security Checkup, even though I signed out and removed the third-party app. So, why did a TV need to be both logged in as a device AND have a third-party app with full access, is beyond me.
Any TCL's Android smart TV owners out there? Your account might be compromised too.
