YouTube Muffled

Has anyone else encountered YT app being muffled on a 5.1 system? I've tried several videos and they're all the same. I then tried Plex on a 7.1 video and it was fine. Nvidia Shield TV, latest firmware.

MI box S vs chromecast for casting

One major difference I noticed when casting a video for example from YouTube is that with chromecast, my TV turns on automatically for example and switches immediately to the chromecast input. So video plays immediately. Also if the TV is on and set to another channel. When I play a video on chromecast it automatically goes to the video on my TV.

Unfortunately this feature doesn't work with the MI box S. Does someone know if this can be enabled?

Am thinking of returning the MI box S, because of the lack of this feature.

Advice on TV to buy

I have scratches on my TV, so I'm going to replace it. I want Ambilight and Android TV, so Philips is my only option. I can only fit a 49" (123 cm). Been looking at the 49Pus8303/12 and the 49Pus8503/12, but I can't find the difference when comparing. Would appreciate any input to make my decision easier. Maybe there are better TVs to choose from?

Should I really go for the Nvidia Shield TV and not the Mi Box S?

Hi! I just moved out for the first time (Australia) and I got me a Hisense 55P7. I'm looking to get me an AndroidTV box.

I've been seeing the two, Nvidia Shield TV and Xiaomi Mi Box S being suggested a lot. I'm no AV nerd but I want to get the best experience I can as much as possible.

Currently, I noticed that the Nvidia Shield TV from local retailers are all out of stock or either selling it at 329 AUD (230 USD). Is it worth it at that price?

Alternatively, I'm able to get me a Mi Box S, but I have been reading that streaming 4k is laggy. Is this still true for the current state of the device?

Thanks!

Youtube subscriptions only showing 33 videos

I just noticed that my subscriptions page in the Youtube app is only showing 33 videos, ie. 11 rows of 3.

I've tried resetting the app, clearing cache, rolling back to previous version, restarting device, and force stopping app. Nothing works.

I'm running a Mibox 3, fully updated.

Anyone else having the same issue?

USB to TCL U49P6046

Hello, first time posting at this sub.

I have TCL U49P6046 android TV. When connecting my 64gb USB to TV the media on USB can only be seen on TVs built in media player. When I open TV File Commander, the USB is visible there but without media, it's empty. Similar thing with VLC player, the media on USB just keeps loading.

The USB is in NTFS format at the moment. While formated to the exFAT, when connected, it shows error and no media can be displayed even on built in player. Didn't try FAT32 because the 4gb limit is not viable.

The USB is 3.1. It works fine when using on PC. I watched some movies via USB on TV before, but now this error persists.

I' ve googled this error many times, without any success. If anyone can suggest any solution, that would be helpful.

4K Android TV for a reasonable price

So I had a Hisense 58" 4k Android TV I absolutely loved that was bootlooping today, so I promptly returned it, got my refund, and was talked into getting a Roku one instead since apparently this model was notorious for "motherboard issues". It was $350,

This was easily the biggest mistake I've made in my life.

The thing has, as far as I can tell, no semblance of HDR, no Dolby anything, was Roku (which is awful compared to the Android TV interface, and doesn't play quite as nicely with my Google Home stuff), and worst of all, has no UHD upscaling, so needless to say, I'm returning that thing first thing tomorrow.

My question is then- where do people find Android TVs? I've checked the apps/websites of Newegg, Walmart, Best Buy, and Costco (where I got the 2 I've been through so far), and there aren't any nice search options for it, and I usually only find one or two, and they cost thousands of dollars.

As of right now my options seem to be rolling the dice with another of those Hisense 58" ones that have everything I want for cheap but are allegedly notorious for hardware issues, or I can try to find something else in a reasonable price range, which is proving difficult. I don't need the Samsung super ultra mega giga maximum color type stuff, but at least HDR and UHD upscaling so I don't hate myself when I watch non-4k content lol. Has anyone been shopping around for these recently and have recommendations?

Potentially dumb question

Have a Sony Android TV connected to my Yamaha soundbar thru HDMI ARC.

I wanted to buy a Mecool Km9 Pro cos the Sony TV is dog slow getting things done.

Just wondering if I connect the Mecool to the Sony via normal HDMI, will the audio from it play thru the soundbar? I don't care about anything other than 2.0 Stereo and don't care about optical either.

Review of G20 Remote

Like the G10, the G20 remote is a good replacement for the NVIDIA Shield remote. It is sold by a few different brands: FOONEE, Avatto, WeChip, Dupad, etc. The G10 Remote is a pretty great replacement remote for the Nvidia Shield, especially for $10-15. It connects via a usb dongle you connect to your shield, it takes two AAA batteries. It replaces ALL functionality of the Shield remote and improves upon it in some areas.

Pros:

  • Power Button
  • Mic works flawlessly, for assistant and in apps.
  • Familiar form factor - similar to fire tv remote.
  • Volume buttons and mute.
  • Air mouse is sort of cool.

Cons

  • Wish there was a TV toggle and that you could program multiple buttons. The power buttom is the only one you can IR program
  • No back light.
  • Volume buttons are weirdly placed.
  • See con in comments about DPAD Center button issue.

This is an almost no compromises replacement for the stock shield remote. I am pretty impressed. Still on my search however for a remote like this, with a backlight - and a toggle to switch to another device or IR mode.
