Mi box, kodi, ext USB HDD not able to delete shows

I have an issue in Kodi on my Mibox that is bugging me. I have delete and rename option enabled in kodi but when I delete a show /file it asks me to confirm deletion then does nothing.

I have a WD 2tb USB passport that contains a movie and TV show folders. Is there a setting for permissions somewhere in the mibox settings I am missing?

Thanks for the help

Issues with YouTube app on Sony TV

Me and my SO have two 900c 65" Sony TVs. When watching youtube videos directly through the native app on his TV, we get constant stuttering on the tv on any quality selection, but the audio is fine and smooth. If I go on my phone and through the youtube app CAST it to the TV youtube app, instantly smooth. Highest quality, no problem. It only has issues with the native app on the tv and using that directly. Our other identical TV? No such problem, same internet connection, and both tvs are updated to the latest update.

Is this common? Anything I can do to try to fix it?

Nvidia Shield TV, WiFi network problems since the last Nvidia update

A couple of days ago Nvidia released a new downloadable firmware update (nvidia expierence or so). Now, after installing it, my WiFi network on the shield gets broken all the time while streaming via Google Cast.

For example: I'm watching the NBA App from my iPad on my ShieldTV. Suddenly the connection gets lost and the Shield's network icon says "no network available" and shows a "!" symbol.

It won't work til I restart the Shield.

I didn't have that problems before the update and do get it with multiple apps streaming via Cast. And I didn't make any changes to my network or iPad.

Does someone knows about this problem?

greetings

Mi Box and HDHomerun Connect Video Quality Issues

Recently picked up a Mi Box for my bedroom. (Currently have Shield TV in the living room an love the thing). For the most part the thing works great but I'm having some issues with my HD Homerun and was wondering if anyone is having the same issues or a solution.

My problem is that some channels just look way pixelated and other don't. Using Live Channels I will actually get the SD logo on those pixelated channels even though they are the HD feed. The channels that look awful are CBS and NBC. My guess is it is something to due with the deinterlacing since CBS and NBC broadcast in 1080i. If I watch FOX or ABC (which broadcast 720p) picture quality is perfect. Anyone have these issues? It's definitely not my Homerun box because all channels look fantastic through my shield TV.

Any Canadians using the MLB.tv app on an Android TV?

I tried to fire up the ball game last night on my new Mi Box, and the app won't present me with the International feed, requiring me to log in via Fox to view the "National" feed instead.

I'm not using a DNS service or anything, because I haven't needed it all post-season; my Apple TV, Nexus 5 and Smart TVs all present me with the International feed as they are supposed to, since I'm not in the USA.

Has anyone found a workaround for this (aside from using the Kodi addon, which is what I ended up doing last night)?

Android TV Launchers - Horrible UI?

Hey all.. So I recently got myself a Nexbox A95x to play with, hardware is really nice, looks sleek, then I turned it on.. The first thing that hit me is the launcher UI is horrible.

Now I know this isn't running Android TV, it's running Android, but I've looked on the Play Store and I can't seem to see any launchers that look anything close to the UI experience of Google's Leanback launcher so I'm wondering what you guys recommend as the launcher for one of these types of boxes? Or do they all just look horrible?

I should mention I'm a Dev and I'm really interested in building an Android TV app, whether that be a pure android TV app or a normal android app with a 10ft interface. So if it turns out there is no sexy alternative to the LeanBack launcher I'm seriously considering building one.. Also if there's anything that you feel is missing from the android TV experience that an app could potentially rectify I'm all ears..

Choppy video on Mi Box when watching Vue

I'm watching the Cubs game tonight on Vue and any time there is quick action, the video gets super choppy. Would getting a USB<->ethernet dongle help?

My wireless stats look fine but I've always used ethernet connected devices in the past.

Mi Box 4K (Walmart) - Netflix errors after playing for about 10 seconds

Has anyone seen this before and/or found a resolution?

I'm able to start playing a video, but at around the 10-12 second mark (possibly when it's moving up to a higher bitrate?), the playback stops and I get the following error:

"We're having trouble playing this title right now". I get "Go Back" and "Details" buttons. In Details, there's nothing useful, just serial/model numbers, and a connectivity test which passes across the board. There's no error code that I can see anywhere.

I've tried several titles, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and made a change in my router (I was blocking external DNS requests previously, I turned that off) - nothing has worked. I'm able to watch the same videos on my smart TV without issue. I do have a 4k TV, but my netflix account is not set up for 4k, since there aren't enough titles to really justify the extra price.

There's only one thing I can think of that could be an issue - I'm not using the HDMI cable that came with the box. The cable I'm using is a high quality monoprice one, but it is a few years old, so I guess if this is how an HDCP error manifests itself, it could be the issue. I can change it out if necessary, but it's run through the wall so I'd prefer not to if possible.

If anyone else has run into this or has any suggestions, I'd love to hear your thoughts before I pull the TV off the wall and start fishing HDMI cables again.

Torrent server?

I would like to install a torrent server on my NVidia Shield and be able to control it using Gear Shift or any other Torrent client on Android mobile.

I can't really find any information about this. I read that TTorrent Lite has support for the server but once I sideloaded it I can't navigate in the options because seems like it's not compatible with the remote...

Recommended BBC iPlayer app on mi box

As there is no official BBC iPlayer app for "generic" android tv, I will have to use a workaround for both live streaming, and catchup.

I have tried:

  • the nvidia apk: Just displays the web page, with no ability to navigate
  • plex and the iplayer channel - plays high quality on my pc via the plex web interface, but low quality on the mibox. No EPG
  • kodi/sbmc and iplayer www addon - Mostly plays well. No EPG. Sometimes buffers.
  • mediahhh. Didn't work for me (geo blocked)
  • zattoo app: I get no video
  • kodi/sbmc + zattoo addon: Plays well for live tv. No EPG

Does anyone have recommendations for an iplayer solution which includes EPG and HD streaming?
