Nexus player on computer monitor.

I use a computer monitor as a television. It has speakers, but doesn't have a remote. I'm wondering if the nexus player or other android tv box would work well with this. Does android tv have built in volume control that works through HDMI or Bluetooth speakers? Does android tv send a sleep signal to the monitor, or cut the video feed? My dish box goes to a screen saver when you turn it "off" so the monitor doesn't go to sleep.

Those of you using the SHIELD for gamestream, how is it?

I mean overall, how responsive and lag-free is it? Should I expect an interface similar to Moonlight on my phone? How does the controller work, is it recognised as an Xbox controller in all games? Is aiming for 1080p 60fps unrealistic? Sorry for the onslaught of questions, just need to know if it will work flawlessly since it's the key reason I'm interested.

What is the best GBA emulator for Android TV.

I normally use MyBoy, so I sideloaded that, but I can't seem to get into the menu to turn off the on screen overlay, is it possible I'm missing something here?

Or is there another emulator that you guys recommend?

The only THX-Certified 4K TV is an Android TV by Sharp

This is good news Android TV as I think the TV lines will bring a lot of customers who aren't savvy enough to choose a particular set top box over another. The more users that come to Android, the more developers will take the platform seriously. I'm hopeful that it won't be too long for Android to be the primary platform that everyone develops for.

Google Play Music: Missing Songs from Library

So I went looking for a song on my Nexus Player in Google Play Music, and it wasn't there. I spot checked a few other albums in my library (both songs I uploaded and songs I added from All Access), and a lot of albums were completely missing or missing a number of tracks. My library looks and plays just fine on the website and from my phone and tablet. Clearing data and cache from Play Music doesn't fix the problem.

I am running Android 5.1.1 (rooted) on my Nexus Player, and Google Play Music v5.9.1854R.1904527.

So No More Volume Control?

I recently switched over from the Chromecast to Nexus Player and Android TV. Severely disappointing. Among a host of things, I just don't understand why they've totally ditched volume control. I don't have CEC on my older TV, but that was never an issue with Chromecast. I still want to be able to use my phone as my remote, and adjust my music volume as I walk around my house without having to go back to the living room and pick up my TV remote. Is there any workaround for the lack of volume control on content? Even content cast from the phone can't be controlled. The volume appears to go down but then resets itself with an error message.

Casting WatchESPN to Nexus Player

Every time I cast something from WatchESPN to my Nexus Player it works for about 5 minutes, then it throws an error and disconnects. Other apps cast just fine, so I'm thinking its a WatchESPN thing, but I haven't seen anyone else have this problem. What would you're guy's take on it be?

How to get rid of "resume playing" on home screen

I played about 15 minutes of a movie I purchased a while back in the play store, with no interest in watching it all. Well since then the first module on my home screen has been "resume playing". As far as I can tell there's no way to dismiss it. I've tried fast forwarding through the movie. It's still there. Anyone else with the same problem?

Some of the UX misses on this interface astound me.

Nvidia collaborates with Kodi on development

This is great to see:

"Although true 4K implementation for applications like Kodi is only planned in Android M, one of our developer found a way to at least incorporate this for the Android 5.0 platform. With the help of the people from NVIDIA and their newly released SHIELD Android TV we can now say Kodi will do it’s user interface and video playback in full 4k@60Hz should your device support this."

http://kodi.tv/kodi-15-0-isengard-beta-2/

I assume we'll see this enabled in an Nvidia update soon if it doesn't work already.

EDIT: Nvidia also appears to be giving out free Shield TVs to androidtv devs, at least they did for one dev who has what is essentially a Kodi for emulators app:

"Since version 1.05.1 the app is developed on a Nvidia Shield kindly offered by Nvidia USA itself, and future updates will enhance controller support!"
