Anyone knows a decent PPTP client that would work on Android TV (Nexus Player)?. I have a VPS in New York that I'd like to connect to sometimes (hhummm Netflix USA) that is running a pptp vpn server (not secure, I know!). I've set it up on my Nexus 5 and it works perfectly but unfortunately it seems Google removed the VPN support from the settings on Android TV. I know I could hardcode american DNS but I plan on hosting other stuff on that VPS anyway so a direct connect would be better in the long run..

Hey guys and gals, so I'm moving out to my own place in Sweden and don't have the luxury to bring with me my ps4 but I do have my beloved TV. I only use the TV to watch Netflix, Viaplay (streaming service that shows live soccer games) and sometimes I download shows my father has recorded and uploaded to tpb and watch them with something called popcorn time, I'm wondering if the nvidia shield android tv could do those things (I think Viaplay streams on chrome on desktops but I'm not sure, though they have a native app for phones).

I've was leaning between using a Intel NUC and getting KODI on it until I read that KODI works on the Raspberry Pi B 2, but then I started thinking about androids Netflix app which seems nice etc. So I was back to the NUC but discovered it needed RAM and SSD and an OS so I started thinking about building my own

Is it so that the nvidia shield android tv will eliminate my need for any HTPC for the main reasons of using it as: streaming hbo, netflix, viaplay, ufc, watching torrented files from my fathers uploads through KODI or just simply home recorded videos from a usb stick.

I've noticed that for the past few days this bug keeps happening. I try to use the Nexus Player remote to navigate and sometimes it gets stuck on trying to perform an action I didn't want to do (selecting a video repeatedly/using the voice search function). The light on top of the mic button also keeps flashing when this happens.

The only way to fix this problem is to take out the batteries on the remote. This sometimes happen outside the app but it is a lot more frequent inside the app. I'm currently running the latest Isengard 15 Beta available from the Play Store.

Does anybody else have this problem? Is this a Kodi-related bug or is it a software problem that Google can patch? I would also like to know how to stop this from happening.

Had a Nexus Player for some time. Thinking of upgrading to a Shield, but I gotta ask myself "why?". Are there games available that demonstrate that the hardware in the Nexus isn't adequate?

Hello r/AndroidTV I'm a college student and this guy friend of mine asked me if I wanted to help him sell these bunch of cheap android tv box copycats. I need some money on the side, but I want to ask you guys as a knowledgeable community what would you do if you were me?

What games would y'all recommend for the SHIELD TV that work with the controller? I have a few that I'm unsure about, could anyone verify whether they support the controller and the SHIELD or not?

Just got my new nexus player yesterday and for some reason the voice search doesn't work in any app. All I get is "Didn't catch that" when I try to voice search. Could it be the mic in the remote is broken? This is my second NP in less than a week that I've had problems with.

I'm interested in using an android tv box instead of paying for Sky TV. I've done quite a bit of research but I still feel kinda lost. Now it seems everyone agrees that Kodi is great and I should look for a box which has this on. Fine that looks the way to go, but, I have an Xbox One which has the Plex app on...now I don't mind paying £4 a month if Plex will let me view pretty much anything I want to, but I kinda don't want to be restricted a la Netflix.

TL:DR Should I go for a standalone box with Kodi, or run TV through my Xbone for a small monthly fee? Any tips for a noobie would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone know of any apps that can stream video content (mp4, mkv, avi etc.) saved in OneDrive on a Nexus Player?

Most of my issues lie in the controller while using Gamestream. Some games pick up the controller with no issues.. Others, like Sonic Racing Transformed, if I use multiplayer, I have to have a controller plugged in on the PC for it to pick up my second controller. Another game called Strider has no audio. I'm not sure if this is hardware related, but it is the only game I've encountered with no sound... However, the sound does come out of the PC speakers when being streamed. Casting problems are mainly from one app: Disney Movie Anywhere. I cannot stream any of the extras . The Shield freezes at the loading icon and does nothing more until I cast something else. Another issue I have with software is Plex. Some of the titles in my library have the poster art messed up. All other interfaces that I use have them correct, it is only the Android TV version that has them mixed up. I may do a library refresh to see if that fixes the issue.

Has anyone side loaded the Now TV Android app onto a Nexus Player with any success in the UK?

Does Android TV have multitasking? It seems like it would since it's just Android with the Android TV launcher.

It would be nice if they would let you double press the home button to open up a list of the apps that are running in the background like you can on normal Android.

I just got a nexus player a few days ago but yesterday I noticed that whenever I tried to stream videos whether it be on YouTube, Google Play Movies & TV, or Netflix it would freeze at about 5 minutes into the video then restart. Any ideas on why this is happening? The only thing I've done out of the ordinary is sideload Mobdro and Showbox. I'm likely just going to factory reset it because I can't watch anything without it freezing.
