hello there I’m thinking of buying Tivo 4K streamer, but the problem is whether its volume can be controlled separately from TV or monitor.

I have a monitor with hdmi input and aux output but no CEC or IR remote. It’s just a common PC monitor with aux out. So I need a standalone volume control from streamer itself. (+ BT is not an option for me due to its input lag and delay)

Can anyone tell me about this? All I know is that now BT volume control is supported. Thank you!

I thought about getting some kind of portable AndroidTV solution for my wife and me, when we are traveling in our vacations or one of us is traveling for business reasons.

At home, we mostly use Netflix as our streaming provider, and also we use Kodi at home to play our local files.

I thought about just buying a Xiaomi Mi 4K stick. But I am not sure if it is able to connect/insert a SD card/micro SD card/USB stick for watching those things. Therefore, I want to ask you guys what is the best device for my situation:

Must haves:
- Netflix
- Play files from storage device
- Either YouTube or Smarttube

Nice to have:
- Using Kodi
- Interface without ads
- Easy to sideload apps
- Some mild retro gaming emulation (max PS1/SNES/GBA)

Other things to keep into account:
- The budget I had in mind was about 45 to 60€ since this seems to be te price range of Amazon Fire Stick or Xiaomi Mi 4K stick. But If there is something for maybe 70 or 80€ that is much better, I would be willing to spend this too.
- Since this will be a device for traveling, being portable is a plus. Additionally something that can be powered from any generic USB to Power cable and not something that maybe even needs some big voltage converter

I don't mind sideloading, rooting, using custom firmware or anything else. I also have no problem with using some else instead of AndroidTV

What device would you recommend?

Looks like the ONN Walmart Android box is not available at Walmart any more. Sold out. No information about replacement. It was the best low cost solution for generic android tv.

Currently running chromecast with Google tv 4k, but keep facing performance issues. I think related to the 8gb of space (almost full thanks to Kodi), ddr3 and an older soc? It's connected to 1gbs.

I'm willing to spend the shield tv pro money, but is it the best choice for my use case? I'm not using any Netflix, prime, etc. Just Kodi (inc 4k remux from 1gbps connected Nas), YouTube and F1 app.

I'm using multiple profiles finally on my Google TV. I have both Sony Google TVs as well as Chromecast with Google TV devices.

But the functionality is confusing, I'm hoping to clarify if this is how it's supposed to work.

I have multiple users (myself and 2 other users) with their own Google profiles. But when we sign into our google profiles, YouTube TV is still showing the other user. So not only do we have to switch the main Google TV profile, we have to remember to switch the app profile as well.

Is this by design?? A glitch?? TIA

Hey I tried some Android TV Browsers and the last one I tried was Puffin. Such a nice Browser! I even visited sites where I get ADs, Pop Ups and Crashes as soon as I press the Play Button. Nothing happend! Everything worked.

Anyone got more information on Puffin? I heard you have to pay. But everything works so far. Got the App from the Playstore. I heard they had a shitstorm... and the browser will be taken down 2023.... is that true?

TV Bro and BrowseHere are also rly good TV Browsers, sadly without Pop Up Block. I rly like the Built in Mouse on TV Bro, and what I like about BrowseHere is the built in video player, as soon as the Browser detects a video, it will ask to Play it in its own media player, very cool Feature! So cool that I dont have to struggle with fake play buttons and ad traps!

Little information about me: I just need a good Browser to watch streams and Videos, AD Block and Pop up Block, also a decent UI and remote Control frienldy.

Anyone out there with a Philips TV who’s experiencing something similar?

Hey I just got the Xioami Mi Stick 4k. I am looking for a good Browser with Pop-up Block, AD Block is also a plus, but not a must have.

I tried TV Bro and it's amazing! The built in mouse Feature, the AdBlock etc. but sadly no Pop-up block ...

I also thought about getting a remote Control with Air mouse and replace my xiaomi RC and just Install a normal Android browser that isnt optimized for TV. (Also my Mi Stick has no USB Port)

So my 2 Options

1. Get a good TV optimized Browser with Pop Up & AdBlock
2. Get a Standard Android browser with ad and Pop-up block and an Airmouse with Bluetooth I guess.

Streaming was slow in my Xiaomi Mi Box although I have a fast internet connection. I realized maybe it is an issue with the cache, so I bought an SSD (Transcend StoreJet) and set it up as internal storage.

Now, 3 months later, I get a message that the SSD is disconnected and I can't make it work again. I tried unplugging and plugging it back again, playing with the settings (where a bunch of weird stuff happened.)

Reddit must know what might be the issue and how can I fix it.

Is there ANY way to block those ads on a newer television? I believe that it's possible to get some smart tube player on androidtv, but these new "GoogleTV" models seem to be a pain in the ass.

Tried searching smart tube player etc from apps and it finds nothing. Also tried "adblock" DNS. Doesn't work. Tried downloading Smart tube player via browser --> tv model not supported.

so i have recently got an android TV , works fine no issues ...the problem is , there are a couple of apps on the play store that are available on smartphone but not on TV....apps which allow me to access my video lectures . I would really appreciate if someone could tell me a way that to get them on it. Tried aptoide its not there either ....tried the noob act of just running the apk from smartphone onto the tv .. didnt work....would really appreciate if someone could help app name - emedicoz

Have to rediscover BT connection to get it to reconnect. Has anyone else witnessed this issue? If so what did you do to fix it? TIA..
