As said in the title, i wanted to try a netflix root bypass as i saw on a yt video so i added this lines to the file using a text editor and rebooted the android box. It's stuck on the boot splash screen. any way i can modify the file back to normal? it's rooted btw(the cause of the mess)
After seeing u/latinriky78's post, I thought that I should give an update about a similar Android TV box - RockTek RT-G2. This one also has the same set of capabilities as the Homatics Box R 4K Plus. Dolby TrueHD pass through but, sadly, no DTS MA passthrough. My receiver just displays DTS Neural X when DTS HD MA or HR test files are played. Though, I can hear audio being output from the correct speakers.
Both boxes are manufactured by SEI Robotics. They are the manufacturers for the upcoming Nokia StreamingBox 8010 as well. I would expect the Nokia box too to have the same capabilities. Time will tell if these boxes will output lossless DTS HD MA. I really hope they do. Then we would have good choices for certified Android boxes playing Netflix/Prime/Disney+ etc in 4K HDR (the box supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision), while at the same time being capable of Dolby TrueHD/ DTS HD MA passthrough. From a video playback perspective these can be real alternatives to NVidia Shield Pro. NVidia doesn't do HDR10+ and that could be a deal breaker for many Samsung TV owners.
These boxes also support AV1 codec and I could see YouTube serving AV1 videos. I assume Netflix too would be doing the same, though I couldn't confirm it.
I was using a Chromecast with Google TV previously and I find the RockTek box much better - especially in terms of DTS audio output. I could never get CCwGTV to output DTS HD MA audio - even when connected directly to my AVR. The video would always stutter.
I am not repeating everything posted by u/latinriky78 in their original review, because everything is the same - except for the branding (I could even see the misplaced comma in the Advanced sound settings menu for passthrough). If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
