Can anyone recommend a good budget box, 4k isn’t necessary, preferably with descent ram and storage. We have fire sticks and chrome cast but we really want a descent budget box

Hey, sorry if this is a noobie question, I'm a student doing an end-of-course project, and I was looking for TV's for a hypothetic company conference room, the one I picked (Sony Bravia x90J) has Google TV, then I thought about adding a Chromecast device, in case someone needed to cast something from an office, but then I found out about "Chromecast built-in"

would a Chromecast device be needed, or just by having the Google TV OS it already has all casting capabilities?

Looking for IPS that has little to no PWM and input latency for my systems. VA is ok but I can not stand black smear. I have been with Roku TVs and they all have it. There's a Phillips at my local Walmart that's an android but can't find any info on it what so ever. Any recommendations?

Definitely not worth buying at the moment. Too many software limitations. Tested a few things that I think were still open questions:

• No DTS-HD MA/Dolby TrueHD Passthrough in Plex
• No auto frame rate or resolution matching in Plex
• Auto HDR doesn't work in Plex or Youtube, so no HDR in those apps unless you force it to always output HDR (and even then, not sure if it's just forced HDR or true HDR)
  • Turns out auto HDR is just semi-broken. If you connect it to a Dolby Vision capable TV, and set the adaptive HDR to prefer Dolby Vision, no HDR is output on these apps because they don't support Dolby Vision. However, if you set adaptive HDR to prefer HDR10, adaptive HDR does work on these apps. Similarly, if you plug it into a TV that only supports HDR10, adaptive HDR works on these apps just fine. Basically, with Adaptive HDR enabled you can only choose HDR10 or Dolby Vision, it won't auto switch between both, depending on which formats a given app supports if your TV supports both.
• Hulu limited to 1080p with Stereo Audio, no 4K or HDR or 5.1 audio support
• Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV+ all support Dolby Vision and Atmos
• Haven't tested Disney+ or HBO Max, but will later today
• Disney+ supports Dolby Vision, but only Stereo audio (despite UI showing 5.1 audio support)
• HBO Max supports both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

Hardware wise, it's built well, looks nice, and seems fast, no complaints on that. The light bar on the front might be a bit bright for some people, haven't checked if there is a way to dim or turn it off though.

I have a problem on my TCL c715 tv i just noticed. As it is present on video when i move camera i get these terrible effects. I tried changing options, turn off hdr and dolby vision, tried on different ports and cables (and different screen where it looks fine so it's tv issue), but it always occurs. Has someone had something similar? Is that software or hardware problem? I updated android but it still looks the same.

I’ve a samsung tv which doesn’t load android apps + can’t get rid of you tube ads so am looking for android box. I only intend to use it for few apps so heard about onn from walmart but it’s only available in USA

So is there something similar which is cheap and good that I can buy in netherlands?

I dunno if the mecool km2 will have more updates, at least i know that google tv has, but i would need a usb hub to upgrade it, where as the mecool km2 i wouldnt need.

Hi, I recently got a SHARP AQUOS AndroidTV and I realise that the TV is not very responsive to the remote control, for instance it would take a couple of tries to switch the TV on.

The tech support told me that there is usually a lag of about 30s after power on/long standby, and that’s how the OS is working. Is this true? Just want to make sure my 4-day old TV is not defective. Thanks!

I’m new to google tv as I recently picked up a new Sony A80CJ. I set it up using my primary google account and it has worked great. However, today I went to watch YouTube TV on it and I couldn’t figure out how to sign in using a different google account (gmail email address). I added the account under the “Manage Account” section but when I go to sign in I only have one option - my main google tv account that I used when I set the tv up.

How do I sign in with a different email so when I launch YouTube TV it uses that account?

How can i pair my PS4 controller on mi Mi Box 4? It keeps saying that was not possible to pair, i have v2 controller and Android 9 tv box.

Very random issue I'm facing here. Before the most recent update, my TCL 5-Series QLED would always show a number associated with the volume level on my TCL Alto 6+ when I adjusted it, as one would expect from a TV. However, following the update a week or so ago (not sure if this was an Android TV update or TCL update TBH), the numbers no longer appear. I just get a box with the name of the soundbar and either a plus or minus symbol.

Anyone else had this issue? Is this fixable? It's not a huge deal but I'm one of those weirdos obsessed with volume numbers so it's been bugging me.

Okay there are a lot of android TV boxes out there. I am looking for an android TV Box that can play videos in 4k with HDR which supports AV1 decoding. The apps I will mainly use will be HBO Max, Netflix, Prime and a the Plex app for my Plex server.

On the hardware side, It needs to have an USB port for my dragonfly black!. Having an audio out would also be nice. But having a USB port is enough. Box I found:

I had been watching BBC programs with a sideloaded version of the BBC iPlayer on my Mi Box using PIA VPN. Recently, that stopped working. I am doing a trial of the Smart DNS Proxy and that works just by changing the DNS, and without the VPN. Curious to hear from others who have done the same (or similar)?

I'm not very familiar with video/audio codecs. I have a 2.1 soundbar hooked up to my TV and I stream Netflix, Prime, Disney+ straight from the on-board Samsung Tizen app store.

On occasion, I'll open up the web browser and go to town on some meh-quality streams (usually 1080p anyway).

I guess I'm asking, what's the point of an Android TV box? With a proper setup, is it better quality than I would get with built-in Tizen apps?

Is there a way of reducing video quality for apps like youtube kids and Netflix? I am on a limited data plan and my TV keeps fetching HD videos

My Mi TV Stick came with this remote, it doesn’t have any model name or S/N. It lost connection with the device and I can’t figure it out how to reset the connection. I also have a XMRM-006 remote for another device, pushing the home and menu buttons works on that one. Do you have any suggestion?
