I am looking for an Android TV box to play back media hosted on our local PVR. Kodi and/or VLC will be used on the box as an interface. The content will primarily be SD 480p with the occasional but rare 1080p. However, the issue is the TV this is for is an old CRT with only RF and RCA/Composite inputs. The tv will eventually be upgraded but no where in the near future. I have seen some android TV boxes with an AV/Composite out option and am looking at purchasing one. I am just unsure which one seems to be the best fit. I know an S905 process is getting outdated but that what seems to be the most available. Than iv seen the rockchips but heard Kodi doesn't run the best on them. Will there be any noticeable slowdown/shutters/performance issues? Also, how bad is the picture quality(specifically text) over the composite. I am aware it is cruddy but how bad compared to a STB connected via composite. I am looking at a minimum of 2gb ram and 16gb Emmc which should be sufficient Remote does not overly matter as will most likely be making a custom one. Budget is around $50 with upper limit being $70 which I know is a low pricepoint .

New to ATV... I’m trying to use my google home to cast movies I know are 4K hdr but it never switches to HDR. I also used my phone to cast an HDR movie through VUDU and it still wouldn’t switch to HDR. I know there’s the YouTube work around but is that the only way??? Netflix does cast it in HDR FWIW.

If I purchased a Chromecast Ultra instead, would these same movies cast in HDR???

No matter what I do the AMC app on my TV will not load... worked fine for a few days and all of a sudden just stopped. It will act like it’s loading and then redirect back to the previous screen. I’ve tried factory resetting, uninstalling the app, clearing the cache, etc. Any advice? Is anyone else having a similar issue??

My Hisense Android TV gets stuck at the android boot logo. How can I factory reset it, without using the remote? It's an H9 plus series. Thank you!

Anyone else having this problem? Works fine on my phone but not on my TV

I have tried a couple of different air mouses with Android TV (Sheild and Mi Box) and while they work in the main UI, I cannot get a "click" to happen in Netflix.

Nothing happens when I move the cursor over and click when the cursor is in the profile I want to choose. If I switch off the mouse, the remote works as normal.

Seems like Netflix on Android TV doesn't support touch/mouse - is that right?

Like if you want to download a picture or videi nornally you press and hold the touch screen. On the mouse the middle button goes home the right button goes back and holding left does nothing. I dont even know the best place to ask this.

It seems the preview video background on the Twitch app breaks YouTube completely, if the video plays it’ll be dimmed but most of the time it’ll just error out - even more interestingly is it brings up the thumbnail of the Twitch preview in the middle of the screen which is weird in itself.

Anyone else experiencing this? Everything is fine if I kill the Twitch app.

I have a Philips 55PUS7503 android TV. Well the ambilight is cool and all but everything else is horrible imo.

Today I updated the software, and the UI got a bit new and cleaner actually, but the audio out headphone mode disappeared. Now it only shows “TV speakers / HDMI sound system / TV speakers off”. I used to use it with an external speaker on the jack plug. TV speakers were off. Now this mode disappeared, and the external speaker is always on, no matter what, and I can not change the external speaker volume woth the buttons only if I go into settings and change the “headphone volume”, but this requires so much buttons pressed and tedious that I cant just easily change volume.

What is worse, is that I actually don’t even use the remote control because I cast the content feom my phone, and I used to be able to change the volume (of the external speaker) with my phone, and now it only can change the TV speakers sound, and I don’t need that as I would only want to use my external speaker.

Is it my fault or they really changed this? If so, is this a bug or a feature? Can I somehow change the volume of the external speaker with my volume buttons like I used to?

My mi box is connected to an avr. And the avr automatically shuts down after X minutes without sound.

In kodi there is an option to keep audio device alive (a low unhearable pitch), I can't seem to find a similar app to keep my avr alive when it's on the homescreen.

I'd like to buy the mi box s for the Chromecast builtin and netflix 4k support. Reading this sub I didn't understand what's going on for the hd audio pass-through. Does it work? Right now I have a tannix tx5 android box connected via hdmi to a Denon AV receiver. The receiver is connected via hdmi to the TV. With my setup I can get hd audio pass-through with Kodi (DTS-HD Atmos and so on) but I cannot get it via other apps such as plex . I can't test it on Netflix because it simply doesn't work on my box...will hd audio pass through work on the mi box s?

Anyone else encounter an issue with sling TV with the channel randomly going black for minutes (sometimes coming back, sometimes not)?

I've been getting extremely frustrated with it lately and I'm about at the point of cancelling the subscription.
