Some of the mkv files that are remuxed from UHD Bluray disks dont play on my tv from a usb drive. I also tried with a mibox and it just shows a black screen. is there a media player that will play these videos?

Recently purchased a JetStream 4k Android TV for my living room. On my Shield, I'm able to easily access recent apps by double clicking home, but on the JetStream I can't seem to figure it out. Is this even a possibility or does the JetStream automatically close apps to help rid of stutter?

Says the Device doesn't have rights for app. Anyone else getting this after the latest update?

I received a new IP TV STB from my ISP and it has Android TV 8.0.0 installed on it. When set it up it offered to auto install Hulu, CBS and a few other apps for me. All are working perfectly fine.

I then try to search for Netflix on Google Play and it does not show up there. Try to remotely install it from my phone and it says not compatible with my device. Get the APK from Netflix directly and it states the device is not supported.

Is there any way to get Netflix to work on it?

I can’t find the “Philips smart tv voice control” skulle in the Alexa skill-libary, and it annoys me!!

Only really need use of these two apps - still want relatively snappy performance though.

Currently have a Version 1 fire stick which is slow as hell now and the remote is dying.

Not looking to spend nvidia shield sort of money, so would the new fire stick 4k be my best option?

Only using for 1080p now but may upgrade to a 4k TV in next year or so...

I have a Gen1 Chromecast that works great and it's enough for my bedroom.

The problems comes with the living's room TV, it's a LG with WebOS. This is the slowest thing I've ever seen. It can't even change between antenna channels quickly.

So I thought that I should buy a Mi Box S, but I don't have idea about Android TV. I'm a user with big experience in Android but none in TV version.

It would be great if you can help me. Also, sorry for my English.

I was going for the Mi Box, but have some doubts... It will be mainly for kodi. Any suggestions or i will be fine?

Everything I've tried involving the "Share with specific people" option doesn't work on the Shield, with Kodi giving me "Operation Not Permitted" and the Shield settings just don't connect. I'm honestly stumped. I've looked on multiple threads and I can't seem to determine exactly what my problem is.

I have a MI BOX 3, and I have a Nest Hello and a Nest Indoor Camera, and everything was working awesome until Sunday. Something happened Sunday, and now the box will not stream the hello or the camera to the TV.

I used to be able to say, Hey, Google - stream martin cam (the name of our camera in our kids bedroom) and it would say sure streaming the martin cam on mi box 3.

But now I get this: Sorry, I cant play the stream from the martin cam on family room tv for now. Just will not play at all. If I install the Nest App I can then launch the nest app and see the cameras but even with the app installed still the same error msg.

I used to be able to also say Hey google show me the front door and it would swap right to it, nothing now.

Did a Hard Reset for the device. still nothing there weren't any updates as of recent.

I wanted to know if any of you have tried connecting a SATA drive to an Android TV Mi box or if its possible. I am looking forward to kind of have a library online for shows that I use on Plex / VLC.

Any inputs would be helpful, I have no clue yet except I know SATA cable to USB is available.

I tried to search for a solution to this but only found things 2+ years old so I'm not sure if any of it is still relevant. Anyway, I migrated to Shield from a dedicated HTPC that used Kodi as a frontend. I love my Shield, and love Kodi, but it really is more of a frontend or launcher than an app itself. So is it possible to make it so the home button on my remote goes to Kodi rather than leanback? if it helps at all, I use a Harmony remote, so it doesn't even necessarily have to be the 'home' button, if it's possible to map another key to launch kodi, I could work with that using my Harmony and simply replace the 'home' button altogether.

I have a Mi Box now. It's mostly OK, but as we all know there are a few issues. Was thinking about getting a Shield to replace it, but wondering if now is the right time. I only have a 1080P TV at the moment, but looking to get a 4K panel soon, and heard that the Mi Box technically will do 4K, but struggles.

Given the Shield hardware is now a few years old, I don't want to spend a bunch of money only for them to release an updated box soon.

Before I knew much about set top boxes, I bought a crappy Mygica, which is basically unusable. I have since upgraded to the Mi Box and have 2 of them.

I'm wanting to try set up the Mygica in a spare bedroom, but obviously I'd never wish that experience on anyone. I am trying to find a way to install the Android TV operating system on the Mygica. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I have formatted USB2.0 64GB Toshiba pendrive as Device Storage, so I could move there applications and media (KODI, Spotify forced, games, etc). But I have a problem here, since when I turn off the MIBox to sleep mode, wait for some hours and then decide to wake up device, USB is not being recognized, as it was not connected: USB LEDs on the dongle does not shine at all in spite of being connected. If access to configuration/storage, MIBox tells the USB is not connected. I must to phisically disconnect and reconnect the USB dongle to be recognized again, so I could play applications installed on it, just a bit of a pain in the ass here.

Is there any solution to this problem? Not using any USB HUB here... may a Hub fix this problem? Do need to be self-powered? Could be fixed by device software settings? Does people have the same problem than me? Thanks.
