Someone played Porn on our Skyworth AndroidTV

UPDATE: SOLVED!! Thank you for all the suggestions! Changed my password and will regularly check whos connected moving forward.

My sibling was projecting Netflix on our tv thru hdmi as the tv isn't verified(?) by Netflix when the screen suddenly changed into some porn. We immediately turned it off. We're the only ones at home so no one in the family casted it for sure. I feel like our neighbor accidentally casted it but how?! Can we somehow restrict that? Help please, I don't want that happening when some visitors are here.

How to bypass the "Are you sure you want to power OFF" - Google Home and Kogan TV

Hi,

Just bought a Kogan Android TV and I want to be able to turn it off with my Google Home. When I give Google the command, it says "ok, turning off TV", then on the TV it comes up the the dialogue "TV power OFF?" and I have to select OK or Cancel with the remote.

Is there a way to bypass this "TV power OFF?" option? I can't find anything in the settings (it defeats the purpose of a voice command if I have to press OK on the remote).

Second question, does anyone have any solutions for the Netflix app? Google Home says "ok, playing x on Netflix... Sorry I can't play Netflix on AndroidTV yet". I've seen some threads here with limited solutions.

Problems with removable storage

I recently completely wiped my mibox (original model) and started over as it had been two years and it was starting to slow down, I decided it was time to refresh.

After the reset, I plugged in my thumbdrive that was working flawlessly before, and all seemed fine for about a week. Then the mibox started saying that the drive was ejected. I tried removing and reinserting, tried a different USB Port (I was using a hub) and even tried plugging directly into the unit without the hub, nothing seemed to work. I restored the system again, and then it told me that it would not read the drive again....

So I plugged the drive into my PC and Windows told me that the drive was corrupted - I did a search and found that it was a common problem with the drive that I was using.

Instead of being upset, I took this as an opportunity to upgrade so I purchased a 1TB Toshiba USB Hard Drive (it was actually cheaper than the thumb drive was!) and plugged it into the mibox. I formatted it as internal storage, and started installing my apps and moving along. Everything was going well for about another week and then I got the same error, that the drive was ejected.

I did another search and found that sometimes ES File Explorer and other explorer apps that are out there cause this to happen, so I uninstalled them. Rebooting the mibox does allow it to "see" the HD and work properly, every time....but after a bit (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours) it always throws the same error and I have to reboot again.

Before anyone starts saying "get rid of the mibox," let me stop you right there - the forums where I read about people having these issues were on a Shield TV forum, so the problem is apparently an AndroidTV problem, not a mibox problem.

Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could do? I saw a post stating to try reformatting the drive to Fat32 instead of NTFS, I might try that soon....

Cast controls

Hey,

I was wondering that if I were to cast, say, YouTube or Netflix to an Android TV box do you get media controls from your remote? Like, does it just open the app if you have it installed? Currently have a Chromecast Ultra and usually prefer to cast to the build in YT app on my TV because of this benefit, and I've been meaning to converge my TV media consumption to a single device, so this feature would be awesome.

Accessing removable storage without re-plugging

We've got a Sony Bravia Android TV running Oreo 8.0. We've got a USB stick with a bunch of videos on it that shows up when you plug it in, and all is good. But every time we want to watch something on it, we have to unplug it and plug it back in again, I can't find any option that lets us browse to it like and input source. Any idea if that exists?

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a shieldtv

After owning two MiBox's for the past two years I'm finally throwing in the towel and ordering a ShieldTV. The Mibox was a fairly good device at first especially for the price but like many around here know it has been garbage since Orero updates. I have nothing but problems with my boxes, most annoyingly the wake problem. Now yesterday the remote for one of my boxes stopped working properly and the right arrow goes up instead of right so I can't select anything in the menus (even after attempting a factory restore which I had to get to via voice commands).

I really hope the shieldTV will be worth the extra money and I can forget about these little mibox annoyances.

New Nexus Player says no updates availible

Hello! I recently bought a Nexus Player on ebay for 40$ in order to use steamlink and I would like to update to oreo. Ive heard about how bad oreo is, but I still would like to upgrade. When I click on the about page and system updates, it tells me your up to date even though the box is running Android Lollipop. Does anyone have a possible solution to fix this? Do I need to wait for it to rollout to me?

AirTV Player + Xfinity Stream App

I have an xfinity subscription and I'm looking to access it on a TV box while traveling. I've used mibox, firestick and roku. Roku is the only one that supports it without having to find a mod apk.

Does anyone use an AirTV player with xfinity stream? Please let me know.

Thanks.

Xiami mi box S USB/ETHERNET adapter speed

Hi, this post is a follow up to another i created earlier:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/avcn2x/mi_box_s_to_play_4k_remux_over_ethernet_buffer/

I had trouble playing 4k movies over the ethernet with a UGreen 1000mbps adapter. After some investigation and tests, it turns out the problem came from the adapter capping the connection to ~60mbps DOWN. I'm unsure if this is normal on a USB 2 port considering the theoretical speed is 480mbps.

If any of you use an ethernet adapter, what is your connection speed ? Should i replace my adapter ?

Thx in advance ! :)

EDIT: I didn't even think of trying wifi as i was sure playing 4k movies wifi wasn't even worth trying. And yet ditching the ethernet is a semi-solution. Over wifi i have a local speed of 120 mpbs down and 140 up. Movies still buffers but way less (maybe once every 10min ?). I still think ethernet should be faster if anyone can test there local speed with this adapter it would help thx !

How can i view 4k content straight from torrents?

Hello,

I have a 4k Vu49 Google certified android TV 8.0 I been wanting to watch 4k content on it, but sadly Netflix isn't supported on it so I have to side load the app but it runs on hd.

I tried this app called tvzion and I loved it but that too is only showing 1080p

I was wondering is there a way I can straight away buffer 4k content from torrents? Or will I have to download the movies individually and put them on my HDD and watch?

Suggestions please.

Mibox S & Mibox 3 - missing Antialising on iptv - Nvidia shield its OK.

So I have all 3 devices, all mibox has problems with anti-aliasing on text/subtitles/logos/video/streams etc.. i get my iptv from my own home via HDhomerun expand box that provides me up to 4k quality from my TV provider via coax tv installation, it does not matter if its sd/720/1080p or even 4k its all jagged

Nvidia shield does not suffer from this problem, anybody else regonizing this problem? its jagged, subtitles, icons on shows its very easy to see when you are close to the screen.

Here is comparision

Left Side Mibox S/Mibox 3 - VS - Right Side nVidia Shield. Missing AA MSAA?

My Title is kinda misleading because its not only IPTV streams being affected, its in general overall for the device.
