Has anybody configured an Enigma2 STB with KODI app on a Mi Box / NVIDIA Shield?

I already configured my VU+ on KODI, I see the channels list but nothing happens when I click a channel. Doesn't begin the stream.

Just bought a Mi Box S. Having an issue with Netflix

I set the resolution to 2160p 60hz as it says in the display settings since it comes out of the box at 720p for some reason. While browsing Netflix it seems to be in a lower resolution than 4k. Is there a fix?

I'd Like To Spend Under $2000 (Negotiable) On An Android TV, Here Are Features I'd Like (Also Negotiable If I Can Be Convinced) I'd Appreciate Some Help <3

So one thing I'd also like help with is a TV wall mount that can allow me to keep the TV up against the wall but also pull it out and face it at another angle. I live in a studio so this kind of utility would be huge for me.

  • I'd love 240 herts or fps or whatever, I just want the image to really pop

  • 4k

  • Ability to wake the TV up with voice command? Is this a thing?

  • Ability to completely use the TV as my google home device, but I'll be getting other home devices as well.

*Ability to wirelessly use it as a monitor (don't need this but it would be cool)

Is Sony Bravia the hot brand to go with?

I'm obviously a little ignorant here but I'd love any suggestions or help anyone has to offer. Sorry if this isn't an original request post, if there are others that answer most of my questions please direct me.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Sharp 55” Class 4K Ultra HD (55Q7530U) available from Walmart for $349.00 in select markets

If in the market for an affordable 55” 4K Android TV...

I recently bought a Sharp 55” Class 4K Ultra HD (55Q7530U) from Walmart for $349.00. It's not Sony Bravia quality, but considering the cost, I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, it's only available for in-store purchase in limited markets. If in the market for an affordable 55” 4K Android TV, have a look here to see if one is available at a Walmart near you:

P.S. No, I'm not a shill for Sharp or Walmart. I frequently post in r/Ubuntu. Just posting here to share with those who may be interested.

Best/affordable Bluetooth Gaming controller for 2018 Sony Bravia running Android TV?

Hi guys, I'm looking at hooking up a gaming controller to my 2018 Sony Bravia, 55X900F, but looks like I'm not gonna have any luck with a PS4 or XB1 controller. There apparently used to be a way to connect the PS4 controller which doesn't seem to be in the newer TVs.

Any suggestions for a good/cheap Bluetooth controller that would work on this TV? Or, ideally, any way to get my existing PS4/XB1 controllers hooked up?

Thanks heaps!

Reminder: Check your android TV for ON/OFF functionality every once in awhile.

TL/DR: 2017 Sony's can turn on/off with Google Assistant now.

So I've had a 2017 Sony Android Tv for awhile now and the Google Assistant's On and Off would never work. Matter of fact, I almost bought a Chromecast Ultra at one point, mainly just to turn on the TV, but realized it wasn't worth the hassle.

Well, last night while I was lamenting maybe buying a Samsung TV as my new living room TV, as I like how I can turn it off remotely via it's app.. I just half jokingly asked my Pixel phone's Google Assistant to turn on my Sony TV (like I had a million times before).... and the TV turned on! Startled, I asked it to turn it off, and it went off. Dazed and confused at what I just witnessed.. I decided to try to turn it on again.. and it came on! At this point, I was picking my jaw up off the floor... as a dream had come true for me (Maybe a Christmas miracle?). Anyway, what never worked before, suddenly works. Don't know if it was just me, or everyone.

So.. it seems an update happened at some point that allows this to work and I just didn't notice. Hence the reminder. You may be surprised to find out what didn't work before.. suddenly works today. Always worth the attempt. I came very close to making a buying decision I would have probably regretted, had I not checked again.

[Question] sage to upgrade to Kodi v18.0 RC2?

This just showed up on my Nvidia Shield and I’ve got the urge to upgrade but my change for on Kodi 16 to 17 wasn’t the smoothest. I mainly use Kodi for addons (streaming TV shows and movies) but more so, I use the Arctic Zephyr skin and would be lost without it. I guess the questions are:

  1. Does Arctic Zephyr work on Leia?
  2. Are the mainstream addons working correctly?

Thanks for all the help

Mi Box or Chromecast for streaming possibilities

Hi people,

I’m currently trying to figure out the best/easiest solution / hardware-device which I want to buy for a few usecases I have:

  1. I want to watch some streams on my TV (mostly snooker, sometimes English TV) which are provided from the 3 apps TVTap, Mobdro, LiveNetTV; which I normally use on my smartphone. Being able to watch those streams on my TV is the main usecase of this post.

  2. I want to mirror my Android Smartphone (Mi Mix 2) and if possible my Windows computer as well. Mirroring the Android screen to TV is actually one possible solution to be able to watch the TVTap/Mobdro streams on my TV, but apart from that it’s still handy for showing pictures etc.

  3. This is an optional feature but nice to have: Play games, if possible even Multiplayer (2 players). Would also buy 2 bluetooth controllers but not sure whether those could be connected simultaneously to the “host”-device, more details provided below. If would be AWESOME if there’d be an emulator for old SNES games to be able to play SNES or N64 Mario Kart etc… But tbh, this is rather a rare use-case.

As the 3 movie-apps mentioned above also run on my smartphone, my first idea was to buy a chromecast. It’s rather cheap, easy to use, not bloated and no need to maintain it whatsoever and would allow me to mirror my phone, hence to show the video being displayed on my Android smartphone in TVTap on my TV. Only bad thing about it would be: My smartphone display needs to be turned-on AND I cannot use my smartphone in parallel during the time of watching. I don’t know about playing games, whether it’s possible to pair two bluetooth controllers to my smartphone. Any clue whether this usecase could be solved at all here?

Second idea was to buy a fully-functional “Smart TV Box”, e.g. Xiaomi Mi Box4. I know it’s a bit more expensive and needs a bit more maintenance, but I was wondering whether it’s worth it w.r.t. the mentioned usecases. First of all, I’m not so sure whether it’s on the same scale of easiness to mirror my smartphone and windows computer to it, compared to chromecast? My main idea behind it was: Would it be possible to install TVTap, Mobdro, LiveNetTV directly on the Box? If yes, then it would be awesome because my smartphone would not be involved. Do you know whether Android TV supports installation of these 3rd party apks? And gaming could also be easier I suppose because the games would directly run on the box instead of being laggy because of the mirroring via WLAN!?   What do you think? Thanks a lot!

[Request] NZ Freeview Live TV APK for sideloading

I've had a bit of a go at trying to get the APK out of the Play Store, but it's clearly locked down to a specific kind of device... It's loaded on the 'Smart VU X' device made by Dish TV, as an Android TV box.

Given my Sony Android TV has better specs it makes sense that the app should be able to be side-loaded into the TV.

What sort of hardware is powering the various low cost 4K Smart TV with Android or forks aka Fire Edition

Can't really afford to spend the moola for the Sony Bravia Android so that leaves -

Westinghouse 43" 4K - Poor reviews? Customers not knowing how to adjust their TV?

Insignia 43" Fire Edition 1080p

I would buy two of them one to replace the tube 28" tv in the parent's living room and one for my bedroom.

Any thoughts?

Basically when I use an app in the TVsoftware, it gives me a red-blue-greeb image. However and external input is fine (albit with significant motion blur). Does anyone have a fix for this red-blue-greeb issue?

Edit 1: I fixed it by changing the mode to "dynamic". Still have serious motion blur during gaming.

Bonus: anyone know how to minimize or stop the motion blur while I am gaming?

Xiaomi mi3 box + NordVPN + Netflix

Will it work?

With nordvpn, connecting to a US server I can see us Netflix content on my mobile. The issue is my Samsung smart TV which I can't get VPN to. So I'm thinking to buy the Mi box, install nord VPN and Netflix and see content like this.

While I can see the US content on my phone, I can't stream it cause it sees the ip being outside the US, thus I can't stream it.

Thanks
