Hi guys. I'm currently working on some Android apps and have bought a Nvidia shield tv for testing. I also have a Microsoft lifecam studio which i want to use for the video. However, the shield doesn't show me the camera in the options.

TLDR: Is the Microsoft lifecam studio not compatible with the nvidia shield tv? Is there any workaround I can do if it's the case.

I got tired of my WDTV Live never seeing my network shares and I'm a big Android guy so I decided to buy a Mi Box (on its way).

In the meantime, for the heck of it, I put Kodi on my Windows PC and now that I've configured it to use PotPlayer for playback, I think I will use it all the time in the living room where my 1080p TV is directly connected to the pc.

While I was at it I installed an Android Kodi remote app, Yatse, and I'm pretty good with using it as a front end to cast to my WDTV in the bedroom. That set up seems to work much better than telling the WDTV to use Plex or Kodi as a media server and letting the WDTV do the playback.

So now I'm wondering if I even need the Mi Box at all. Is there a trade off at 1080p between the Mi Box doing the playback and the Oneplus 3T? I don't really need Netflix or the other bundled channels, although Prime Video would be nice. I really just needed to be able to watch my networked movies and shows in another room and it seems I've got that now.

So apart from the Mi Box's potential advantages, my other issue is: I don't want to install Kodi on the Mi Box and have to configure the network shares all over again. Is there a way for Kodi on the Mi Box to just "plug in" to what is already set up on the PC?

I have a phenomenal wifi connection and Crunchyroll is literally the only app that buffers on my Shield. Has anyone experienced this or found a workaround?

Is there an oficial app for android tv for Univision Deportes? I sideloaded it on firestick but it's useless. Will it work on an android tv ?

I have a 21:9 lg monitor with a 2560 x 1080 resolution and Im wondering if the nvidia shield will support that ratio and resolution. Thanks!

I may be overcomplicating this but I recently installed the Slingplayer apk off of a FireTV. Bringing up the menu overlays is a bit of an issue because there is no equivalent of the Fire Remote's Menu Button (3 lines). Is there a way to remap a mi remote button to get this function in the app, or can I achieve this with some other soft or hard remote.

UPDATE: As an interim solution I just paired my firestick remote with my Mibox. It works. Eventually I would like to consolidate to just use one remote - possibly an mx3 so I would need a solution that natively has or is capable of having this button.

Recently, the past two months, I have been experiencing apps like YouTube and Netflix losing sync between audio and video. A reboot fixes it sometimes. Any ideas?

For some reason the keyboard on my Nexus is now refusing to come up.

I've reset, I've rolled back updates on gboard but all still no joy.

The only change I've made is my NP remote died and so I've replaced it with a 2.4GHz remote (not airmouse)

Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I recently learned about Android boxes and I'm really intrigued. I'm definately looking to buy one but I don't want to do it blindly. I have a couple of questions that are hopefully answered.

1. Do I need a smart TV to run an android box or does a regular one work?

2. From the research I've already done, Nvidia Shield seems to be the most popular and trustworthy. Should I buy the streaming media player or home media player? (I'll be using it for Netflix, YouTube, and live tv channels like HBO, TSN (if possible)

3. Can I watch regular cable TV through the Android box for free?

It was working okay a few weeks ago, but it seems like since the beginning of February, it has been crashing.

It will not open, just says it crashed. When I select reopen, it just says it crashed too many times and will now close.

I have updated it, uninstalled/reinstalled, restarted the tv, nothing seems to work.

I can open Watch TNT app on ipad and cast to the TV, but the quality is not as good (I guess because it then goes over wifi instead of ethernet like native TV app?)

Anyone else had this and/or resolved it?

I have a question that I'm struggling to find a solution for.

I've got Sony x800d hooked up via 35mm jack to a 2.1 sound system that's left from my older PC.

And when trying to watch movies I have to constantly change volume on TV to either hear what the characters in the movie are talking about, or to not get deaf from loud-as-hell sfx (shooting, explosions, etc).

The audio in the movie is 5.1 and on PC version of VLC player (and I think MPC) there's an option in the preferences to normalize audio to specific setup (i.e. 2.0 or 2.1) - it removes this problem entirely. Is there a similar option in any Android TV settings? Maybe some equalizer app? Or some specific player that could do that by itself?

I am well aware that using a usb cam with the mi box will not work with skype. Is there an alternative? Can we use other apps for video calling on android tv os?

I know the Chromecast Ultra does, but none of my Android TV devices seem to get 60fps yet.

I don't know what changed with a recent upgrade, but now HDR is auto-enabled anytime I use Chromecast to cast from my laptop to my TV.

I want to turn it off, the colours are too bright and the viewing experience for casting is better without HDR. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

1. There are hundreds of supported apps available via search, while they advertise in the whole store overview only the same apps for months. Only one category is updated with things like christmas, new year or olympic apps.

2. Media apps... There are 20 displayed but at least 5 are bible or jesus apps. Why are there no other roman apps?! Serious...Jesus isnt media its Religion and not everyone believes in bad romans... and 1 of 20 should be enough because its anyway a really limited sortiment.

3. Some displayed apps are still the mobile version with its mobile screenshots instead of TV screenshots.

4. Some apps not even start on a 2017 model.

like the title already tells, I use File Explorer ES to add apk file's to my tv, i never had issues before but now some apk's are able to install & for some i get the following issue. When I say Install APK I get the regeluar android tab where it says what priviliges the apk want's, but the install button can't not be pushed (right down). I already tried another app like file explorer but with the same result. My TV is still on android 6.0 so i think the problem is because the apk is for a higher android version?
The apk itself can be installed on a newer android tv, tested this out with my friends tv, so it's not a issue with the apk file itself. any thoughts? solutions? thx

Got a Mi box for my parents, as they have tv signal problems, but their internet is good.

Thought it would be straight forward to put the Freeview app on there and they would be set. No such luck unfortunatly.

I did manage to get it sideloaded, but it crashes on startup.

anyone got any other ideas?
