Is there a fix that is going to come out soon for the Netflix Android TV App? Whenever 5.1 is put through the HDMI ARC I have setup it does not like it. But I'm able to get 5.1 to work just fine through the Plex App. I think it is something to do with HDCP.

Anyone know if they are planning on fixing this?!

Most of the comparisons between these two that I've seen have been comparing performance at 4K. Obviously the Shield will be better in that case, but is it worth paying over twice the price for 1080p use?

Chromecast (Gen 1) has worked just fine up until now. YouTube stuttering has recently popped up, however, and the lack of a remote and Amazon Video is annoying for others when they try to watch something on my set.

Are there significant differences in casting (and emulator) performance between the two? Do either support playback of media from external hard drives?

For yet another time my box has updated kodi to 17.6 and then it fucks up. Its like someone is holding a button on the remote and nothing can be done. So i have to uninstall and install 17.5 again. I have checked off auto update in kodi. But is there a place on the box that i need to change so it wont update?

I have a Mibox 3, I guess an international version, with an EU plug. The wifi has never worked right. Right out of the box I couldn't really connect to the internet. It will tell Me im connected to the wifi, but I can never actually connect to the internet. Someone it will just cycle connecting and disconnecting. Sometimes it appears to stay connected indefinitely.

The weird thing is that after I connect, if I look at available networks, there will be one or two new networks with nearly identical names to the one I connected to. If, say, my network SSID was houseboat, there would be a housecoat and houseboat network available. The same thing happens if I try to tether To my android phone. AndroicAP or the like will appear alongside AndroidAP. The spelling errors always appear to be one letter off.

All other devices can connect to the wifi. Laptop, switch, phones. No other devices see these other fake SSIDs..I can usb tether to the box from my phone to get a connection, but that is pretty much it.

I've tried updating it, hard resets, smacking it around a bit. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I’m looking to install 8 android boxes in my server room and have them display picture to my TV’s in 8 different rooms. My question is is that possible? Or would I have to have each box behind the TV?

Last night randomly my TV turned on due to an unknown reason. I have a Nvidia Shield TV. I shrugged it off as I wasn't sure what happened. Then I said the above line and it turned on again! It's great to see that my phone can even do this. Curious if anyone has any good configuration setups to do with that?

Also, i have a Logitech Harmony remote setup and when I tell it to turn on via the "Okay Google" trigger my Harmony remote won't work since I haven't pressed the button. Does anyone know how to get the Harmony added to that so it will turn on with my task and I can use the remote?

I currently own a Mibox with AndroidTV but i dont like it for the following reasons:

• Box goes in standby which means i cant cast to the device without picking up the remote

• Playback using Kodi and Plex is laggy, i see tiny hickups all the time. (i'm only using 1080P content, 4K playback would be horrible on this box i think)

• Software support is horrible, the duration of the Nougat beta is way too long.

Are there some users here that swaped their Mibox for the ShieldTV?

if so, how big is the change, will i notice some differences?

I just wanted to share my experience and frustrations with the Shield TV and perhaps have a conversation about it.

The setup was amazing, asked me if I have an Android phone and a couple of clicks after, it was configured.

Installed a couple of apps and hit my first snag, the TV compatible apps is very limited.

Granted, this is not necessary Nvidia or Google fault, but still inconvenient to the client.

Then, noted that none of the music apps have any type of screensaver, this is a big no no and needs to be addressed.

The YouTube and other suggestions at the home screen are not great and should be removed, any way to do this?

A proper file manager is needed, ES File Explorer is not 100% compatible, need to try to find a better one.

A browser should be available from the app store, without jumping thru hoops to get it installed.

Lastly, the remote is nice, love the volume strip, but the damn thing needs to be more responsive. Once it goes to sleep, it is a pain in the royal ass to make it wake up.

PS A little middle finger to Amazon. Even though I'm a Prime customer for many years, they did shit for me. I bought the Shield and the next day, they dropped the price by 30 and when I reached to customer support, they told me to cancel the order, return the device and order another one, instead of giving me credit. that just doesn't make sense.

Dear Team , Can the Xiaomi Mi Box 3 read large unpowered external hard drives like 4 tb ? MI BOX usa team tell me that " yes you can use your 8 TB external hard disk for your Mi Box. However flash drive supported formats are exFAT, NTFS and FAT32." but they did not tell me about the external powered or not . Please give me your opinion

I'm thinking about getting an Nvidia Shield but I need it to access HBO Go. I'm in Hungary. Based on what I have read, HBO might not work out of the box.

If anyone here has any experience with the European HBO Go service and Nvidia Shield, I'd love to hear from you.

My understanding is that HBO has no native app for Android TV in my area. There is a native Android app, though. If I understand correctly, native Android apps can be sideloaded to Nvidia Shield, but they may or may not work properly. Anyone here tried HBO Go?

HBO Go can also be accessed through a web browser on a desktop computer. Would I be able to do the same on the Nvidia Shield? Or would the browser not be able to play the videos? Anyone tried this?

I know I could always chromecast HBO Go from a mobile device, but I'm looking for a standalone streaming box that can handle all the various services that I use.

My Mi Box has been sitting in the box since I snagged a cheap Nexus Player over the summer. I want to use it again but I don't see much of a reason to since it hasn't had any offical updates and the betas are missing some features (i.e. OTA Live Channels). Has anyone made or found a custom ROM that allows me to get more out of my Mi Box?

I have an android box that is connected to a couple of speakers. The best I could come up with was using Airtight(airplay clone). It shows up on my Mac for Wireless speakers and I'm able to stream my audio out, but I am also looking for a solution where I can stream audio/spotify from my Android Phone and KindleFire to those speakers as well. I like not having to turn on the TV and that it's available at launch. Ideally, I would like to do it through an Android app but if you all think a Chromecast takes care of it maybe I'll get one.

I have tried with the pkg for nordvpn but it gives me a connection error. Anyone have succes with a VPN working for Prime Video on shield?
