Hi everyone! After struggling with my aging Nexus Player I finally bit the bullet and bought an Nvidia Sheild TV.

Once I got it up and running I was very happy with the speed / responsiveness of the UI and applications.. its very quick.

I love that I finally have a functional voice search (looking at you Nexus Player)

And the remote (I've got the rechargeable one with the microphone jack) has a great hand feel to it and works well. However It went through the battery in just under a month -- and I don't remember ever seeing an alert that the battery was getting low. I'm really not wanting to have yet another device that I constantly have to worry about charging. I'm wondering what my options are.

I hear there is a newer? remote powered by a button cell that is supposed to last for a year? Anyone have experience with this?

I hear that the old Amazon fire tv/stick remote without voice search can work with the device? I'm not a huge fan of the hand feel of this remote, but am willing to sacrifice that for battery longevity.

Any other options?

I have a nexus player and a mi box. I updated the nexus to oreo and now the acestream engine doesn't work -- it gives an error "No players found"

Anyone else experience this or manage a fix?

My fire stick is dying, and I really never liked it, is there an Android TV device that'll play prime video aside from the shield?

So my setup is:

shield hdmi to tv

tv optical to 5.1 reciever

and kodi didnt work, spmc did, but netflix doesnt work either. I cant even select 5.1 audio in the audio selection on netflix.

Any help?

I'm thinking about buying the Sony XE8396, and after reading reviews, it seems like most people have issues with the Android OS and how slow and clunky it is. Can anyone with a Sony with Android TV comment on the OS, and how they overcame any issues?

Pictures and video taken on my phone are wonderful and clear, but when casted to the first gen Shield TV from the Pixel's Google photos app they are very pixelated, and not clear at all.

As a control, I can view the same pictures through the Photo Gallery app (connected to my google photos account) on the Nvidia Shield and they come up perfectly smooth.

Are there any settings on either my google pixel or the nvidia shield im not getting right. As of now, I just go into the photos app on my pixel and touch the cast icon and pick the Shield.

I upgraded my shield tv to the latest firmware and the audio sounds very thin, no bass and less highs than before. Is this an issue anyone else has found?

Occasionally when playing YouTube videos, the screen goes green. It's unfortunate and I cannot figure out how to get it to stop. Anyone else having this issue?

Hello guys, I’m searching for a good solution to watch (possibly) 4k video in streaming on my OLED Lg tv. Webos doesn’t allow me to install kodi, and I need it. So, I’m thinking to buy an external device to get it.

Amazon firestick: cheap solution, but only at 1080p. I can get it for 29 euros. Xiaomi mi box: 56 euros. It should be ok, but I read about some issues in 4k (slow hardware?). I can link it with ethernet cable (with an adapter).

Let me know what is the best choice, I wouldn’t spend 150 for the Nvidia shield now...

Been trying to get my setup right and would really appreciate some guidance here.

1. I temporarily tried a Chromecast and that works flawless when casting a Chrome tab (standalone video player in that tab). I bought a Xiaomi mi box and that sucks in casting Chrome. I don't expect 4k here, just 1080p to work.

2. My Sony TV (690e - does not have android tv) does not support 5Ghz Wifi and the 2.4Ghz channel is crowded and slow. As a result it doesn't play 4k. Mi box does not play 4k in youtube at all even though it connects to the 5Ghz network. I have a 200 mbps connection. Whether this is a youtube problem or mi box I don't know.

3. Mi box is so slow. Sucks in audio search.

4. Sony TV has Prime Video app but I can't play 4k as I told in #2. Side loaded prime video by searching this sub on mi box. App open but videos don't play.

I am even willing to get multiple devices. Infuriates me that I have a 4k TV and 2 platforms that cannot play 4k. Will Shield TV tick all the boxes above. If it is not good as chromecast, should I get chromecast + roku? I don't care about gaming.

got a shield tv today, works good i suppose, but both of my ps4 controllers are incredibly laggy, itll work for 30 seconds after pairing, and then after that itll have a sweet 5 second input delay.

if i use a cord, theres a bug that causes the sound to be disabled on the device because its trying to use the ds4 controller or some shit.

anyway to reduce the lag? i dont seem to be finding anything on google.

I just want to be able to add links to a few streams (m3u8 and rtmp links) and navigate through them easily. What box should I get? Also what is the easiest and most convenient way to load and access these streams on the box?

Does anyone else have a Sony X900E TV (or any Sony with AndroidTV)?

The TV in general is beautiful, the panel looks amazing! But AndroidTV on it sucks - and I feel like it's gotten worse over the six months I've owned it. It gets really, really laggy, the app icons will randomly sift themselves around, and it seems to require a reboot every few days. I know this is not how AndroidTV should work, as my cheam Mi Box is 100 times snappier than this is. I feel like for the price of the TV, it should be able to open Netflix or Plex and not hangup or crash.

So I've been lurking around internet trying to get a good Android Tv box for under $50.

My requirements:

-4K capable

-Android TV layout preferable, but not crucial

-Full compatibility with all android apps

-Ok gaming performance

Couldn't care less about brand or appearance. I'm pretty new to this stuff so I need to get familiar with this stuff.

since yesterday the microphone of my Shield Remote (2015) is no longer working. It's only grabbing the first word and only when I'm shouting directly in the mic.

Has anybody else has this problem and knows how to solve it? I hope it's not a hardware defect.

Ideally, I'd like something that has:

• two sides: one for basic DPAD input, other with keyboard (just seems more useful?)
• airmouse (but dunno if it works well on Mibox? any users who want to give input?)
• voice input
• possibility to learn IR codes for TV
• IR and Bluetooth (like the original Mibox remote - is there anything like this?)

I just picked up a Nexus player and the Hauppauge USB Tuner for Xbox One. It was detected automatically and scanned and found all my local channels (US). Unfortunately, there is no sound with any of the channels. After doing some research, it looks like it is an audio codec problem with the Player and my TV. What are my options:

Get a soundbar/receiver/newTV that supports AC3? (don't really want to do this)
Get a different Android TV device? I read that the Shield has the same problem, and the Mi Box does not support USB tuners. Are there any that will work?
Anything else? I'd like to avoid a monthly fee (Plex). I'm open to setting up an unused PC as a server with a tuner in my house somewhere, if that is an option.

I have locations turned on on my dreamlink box here, and I've tried both hardline ethernet connection and wifi. I keep on getting this message "to continue let your devixe turn on location, which uses googles location service" and Ive done this, checked all the boxes I could have and even restarted the dreamlink box and also uninstalled and reinstalled the CBS app. Am going to login via a tv provider when its all said and done.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here, or is the app just bad?

hey so can anyone recommend a good iptv app fro android tv? russian channels are a must since torrent stream controler got way too in to making you buy the app insetad of using it for free as it used to. So if anyone can recoment a good one i would really apreciate it.
