Would love to see a new Nexus Player announced. Also hoping for new info regarding Google Assistant on my Shield.

Hi good day. I just got my Mi Box delivered today. Unfortunately my cable internet is acting up so I haven't finished setting it up yet. I plan to update all the apps and remove unwanted apps (e.g. NetFlix, Spotify, etc.)

I will mainly be using it to play 1080p BluRay off an external hard drive (2.5" 500GB). This will be offline. I will be using this in my room (in a separate bldg without internet/WiFi).

1. What's the best player for this? Balance of performance and UI. I tried playing an anime BluRay rip on VLC and it was pixelating and shit. Not sure if it's a problem with the drive or the box itself. Note: this is out-of-the-box. I haven't updd ated stuff yet.
2. This box will be offline, so I guess I'll be uninstalling most of the pre-installed apps to cleanup the homescreen.. Can I get them back from the play store later on?
3. exFAT or NTFS for the external HDD? Other than exFAT being accessible to a Mac (which I do not have, Windows FTW), I'm not sure about their pros/cons when it comes to Android or in this case AndroidTV.
4. Any further suggestions/recommendations to enhance my experience in using this?

My app will not connect to my shield anymore, I deleted the app and reinstalled it and same thing. It shows up under connections but just won't connect,. I tried restarting the shield but same thing. Are there any ports or anything I can forward on my network? It used to work fine

Is there a way to either schedule a reboot or just plain shutdown time and restart time for Mi Box?

There seems to be some issues with some apps and streaming with Mi Box and reboot helps for a while.

Now I would like to have an automatic shutdown at certain hour and start up at the morning again or perhaps just a scheduled reboot at certain time of the day to overcome the hassle to reboot while I am about watch things only to find out that streaming it bugged etc.

I know, I know, 1st world problems... but still :D

Did Live Channels recently update? I ask because pressing the volume controls on the Mi remote has no effect on the volume in Live Channels. The controls work in other apps.

I have been using HDHomerun with my Nexus Player without problems for quite some time now, however today, it just shows a black screen after boot. It looks like the app loads properly. I see the channel list on the right, but then nothing - the whole screen is black.

I have rebooted the HDHomerun prime, rebooted the Nexus Player, and even reinstalled the HDHomerun app (beta) from the Google Playstore.

I tried using the Live Channels app and HDHomerun setup without a problem. It even rewinds live tv - so that's cool.

Any ideas on why the HDHomerun app is not working?

So i have a receiver hooked up to my tv, everything was working fine audio wise before the update. Now all of a sudden my netflix and kodi app (the two i noticed so far) doesn't get sound u leas i play around with the input on the receiver till i do a full circle and get back to the tv audio input , then sound starts working again. Checked all my settings nothing changed. Really don't want to have to factory reset this tv. Anyone else have the issue?

Hello guys,

I found that Tellybean is the best video calling app for AndroidTV. I tried a Microsoft Webcam 3000 and it seemed to work with Tellybeans as it was detected.

I tried making a call via Tellybean, the video works and audio works too. But the problem is that it seems to be getting stuck after 5 mins of video calling. The app gets stuck and I need to reboot the device before I can use it again.

Anyone facing the same issue?

So I bought a new mi box and sound bar and use them via Bluetooth (sounds better than digital in for some reason). I can pair them and it works great... however when I leave I put my box in sleep mode and turn the bar off. When I get back in and turn the bar on, the only way to reconnect is to repair it again. The wierd thing is, when I reboot the box, it turns the speaker on for me and connects! Why won't this work in sleep mode? I assume Android only connects to devices on boot :/ any fixes? Thanks.

EDIT: another thing: If i leave the soundbar on all the time, it will stay connected while the box is in sleep mode. Thats the temporary solution i guess, is to just leave it on.

I'm having an issue with the Android TV app on my Pixel. I have two devices on my network: A Sony Android TV and a recently purchased Nvidia Shield. After setting up the shield this past weekend and connecting to the box with the Android TV app I am only able to see the Sheild as a device to control within the app. Previously, I was able to successfully connect to the Sony TV.

I've tried clearing the cache and app data for the app on my phone, but I'm still only able to see the Shield. Has anyone experienced this and have a solution? Tried googling and searching reddit(lol) but wasn't able to find anyone else with this issue.

Edit:Just an update for anyone who comes across this issue in the future: The Android TV service app on the TV itself had stopped running/crashed. A simple restart of the device in Settings>About fixed my issue and I'm able to see both Android TV devices from my phone now.

I've done a bit of digging on this, but can't seem to find anything recent. Apparently this combo worked in the past, but a shield TV update broke compatibility (sound only plays out of the left speaker) Has this been fixed in an update since then? I also have an older Sony android TV but that doesn't work at all with the headset.

I guess my thinking is I can replace my Raspberry Pi (rasplex - works with my headphones) and Steam link with one device, but just need to know if these headphones work properly first...

I can listen to sound over bluetooth, and I can also listen on the TV through the HDMI connection.

I want to be able to do both at the same time - is there a way?

I have a 2015 Shield TV and twitch has an audio delay. I'm assuming it has to do with html5. Is there any way to fix this?

I've also been having issues with Plex too but I think that's unrelated.

I bought an hdhomerun connect, Hooked it up to antenna, and Ethernet to router, ran windows app to scan channels and apply config, then tried to use shield TV hdhomerun app but it keeps saying no devices found. What gives?

So I saw the other thread about a Reddit video app and thought "I've browsed everything in the App Store and haven't seen a single reddit app". So I decided to search, and whatdayaknow... hopwatch.

So now I feel like I'm missing something fundamental. I had just assumed the android tv store was way stripped down or something, but no it appears there's just no way to browse around everything like I can on a phone?

I'm loving this player on my Shield, it automated all the cataloging and most of the art. However, some movies like "Forrest Gump" and even "Jacobs Ladder" are odd without any poster art or backgrounds; very confused. Can't find a way to update manually either .... hmmmm....
