What is everyone using for push notifications on their Shield TV?

Some tidbits for those of you trying to get your Shield working with high-end audio:

Plex and Kodi don't yet do proper passthrough of full DTS-HD MA with 7.1. Plex is currently working with Google to finish support.

ES File Explorer can play it with the built-in Shield media player, which Nvidia hacked proper support into. I haven't been able to scrub MKVs with this, however.

Hi, I have a Sony Bravia 55x8509c. It runs on Android TV and therefore has Google Cast built in. Whenever I cast a YouTube video from my phone the sound is a good half a second (minimum, sometimes this can be several seconds) ahead of the picture.

Anyone come across this? Or know of a fix? Other casting apps seem fine, and using the Android TV Youtube app is ok but it's not very user friendly.

hey i have downloaded asphalt 8 game 5 time on my tv but it will not installed on my tv. can i get the apk file from anywhere version is 2.1.0g then i will put my data file of 1.45 gb.

I've tried the NOVA launched overscan tool, and the apk from XDA, neither can correct the overscan completely, and they actually cause more problems, like UI elements not showing up in the correct place.

Sometimes I'm at work with my Shield, but the only WiFi connection I can use is my mobile hotspot. Which is fine, until the data is all fucked. I have unlimited data, but only 7GB of hotspot data. So, what I started to do was download whatever I wanted to my Nexus 6 so I could transfer it to the Shield. Problem is, that's damn near impossible for some reason. I couldn't find an easy way to move files from my phone to my Shield. I have a USB OTG cable and a flash drive, but transfer rates barely surpass 1MB/s. That's a nightmare for large file transfers.

Is there really no easier way?

are you guys able to cast tabs from chrome in auto (1080p) mode? when i do it, the tv just keeps refreshing constantly. i can only cast tabs at 720p. also, videos keep stuttering when casting at 720p. only 480p steams smoothly. please provide any ideas.

When TV is off, cast icons don't appear. Is this normal? I liked how Chromecast can turn on the TV from the app without using the remote. Edit:Issue seems be intermittent. Only sometimes the cast icons appears.

Does your Nexus Player or Shield TV search for anything you say or type in the search function or it only works for media? On my Sony TV there is nothing other than media from Youtube and even that isn't accurate I think when they launched it they showed that common queries would be answered.

With Apple TV out and the competition rising I thought Google would start focusing again but they haven't yet...

I have a cheap 4K TV I bought a year ago, and it doesn't support HDMI 2.0 (so no 4k@60hz). Naturally, I set the resolution to 1080p60 most of the time, since it's buttery smooth. However, when I want to watch a 4K video, I have to go in the settings, change the resolution to 2160p30, get back into my app, play the video, then go back in the settings and change it back to 1080p60.

Do you know if there would be a better option? I'm wondering if I could set up something with Tasker (maybe?) to toggle the resolution with a simple command or a key press, I don't know...

Do you have a suggestion?

I noticed that Live Channels only pulls 87 channels from Pluto.TV. Is that normal? The PlutoTV app has many more channels that do not show up in Live Channels. I've rescanned multiple times and nothing changes.
