I have a few different android tv devices but I don’t understand why some apps are missing from certain ones? My Phillips tv runs android but doesn’t have Prime Video, my nvidia shield has everything, and my epson projector has built in android tv but no Netflix? I’m not sure I understand why they don’t all have everything? Isn’t the licensing for android itself not the device it’s installed on? And is there a way to side load these missing apps?

Whose smart idea was it at google to take your google store wishlist and make it the google TV watchlist? doesn't matter just matters that it seems like a really stupid thing to do.

So I can't actually now create a watchlist of things I own and want to watch to easily access them and be able to quickly add and remove what I want to watch next because on Google Play you can't add stuff to the wishlist if you already own it. Plus on the Google TV (and I may be wrong here but I've not found it yet) you can't manually add stuff to the watchlist it just pulls over your google play store wishlist.

My parents bought a Phillips (40PFT6550/12) TV a WHILE ago, stopped using it for a while, and want me to fix it. Google services don’t work at all, and it’s slow as hell (OS is QM152E.0.7.70.0) Could only get Youtube to work by removing it and SSH-ing into the tv and installing a new APK file. System wipe doesn’t change anything. Is there any hope?

hey, so I just got the mi box s and from time to time a green screen pops up for half a second (also interrupting the audio) and everything goes back to normal. I tried updating the system but it didn't help. is there a known way to solve this issue? I couldn't find anything related to this.

I have a Sony KD-65A9G / A9G smart TV.

What I want to do is cast a movie I have on my laptop to my TV, with subtitles.

I can cast the movie I want to watch without any problems, but the .srt file isn't recognized for some reason.

The .srt file is in the same folder as the movie, and has the exact same name as the movie file.

The movie is .mp4.

I'm using Windows Media Player to cast the movie.

To be clear, after I cast the movie I want to watch, I press "select" on the remote control.

Then I go to the farthest right in the menu that pops up where there are three dots ("...").

I press "select again".

The "subtitles" option is greyed out.

I've tried casting using VLC, but had the same problem.

How can I get my TV to recognize the .srt file?

On the strength of recommendation here recently I have bought a Chromecast this weekend and am setting it up.

The problem I'm facing is all of my usual sources for sport feeds ... none appear to support casting from my phone to my TV.

I am able to mirror the whole of my phone using the "Home" app - but this is not ideal to sit and watch 6+ hours of Sunday football and not use my phone/check on my fantasy team etc.

I've searched and see people recommending various apps in old threads - Web Video Cast seemingly the most frequently mentioned ... but either it doesn't work any more or I am doing something wrong.

One option seems to be to load to my laptop and cast the whole tab to my TV - but if that is the only solution - I might as well just watch on my laptop.

Any help - or recommendations for where I should be streaming my games from - very much appreciated 😎

If there is no solution - I likely will return the Chromecast and resort to a cheap Chinese box, as at least that will do what I need it to.

Problem with Apple TV on android

I have a strange problem with Apple TV on android box. App is opening and working, trailers are playing well, but when I start some episode, after the apple intro I see this weird thing. Sound is playing well. Any help how to fix this?

Tried installing different versions of the apple app, but no success.

I am on iPhone using IOS 16. Any way I can connect to it couldn’t connect to previous wifi I tried to pair Bluetooth but since my phone got changed it couldn’t pair. It was a old one. Need some suggestions to bring it back to life which is connected to my monitor.

I have a Sony A80J TV with Google TV. The TV is connected to the home network via Ethernet cable. When I want to cast from YouTube on my phone to the TV, the TV does not show up as an available cast device. Once I turn the TV on, it does show up. I would expect the TV to be in standby mode such then when it receives a cast instruction it would turn on and start playing. Any idea how to do this?

Since I was prompted for an update yesterday, v16.04 is constantly buffering. Does anyone know of a fix?

I have a Sony XE9005 and use wi-fi to connect to the internet. I'm with Virgin Broadband and until recently it was 100 meg connection. My wi-fi speed tests matched this but I upgraded to 500 meg connection but my TV's wi-fi has only gone up to 160 megs. My other wifi connected devices such as my smart phone have around 400 meg connection so I have no idea why my TV speed hasn't gone up a lot more?

Any ideas to improve my speed? I've already tried turning off 2.4 Mhz on my router but that hasn't really done anything.

Because I'm a potato, I made an account specifically for my Android/Google tv streaming. I had it all set up through my phone, all was good. Problem is, I forgot the password. The phone that I had the account set up on committed suicide. So am I fucked? Or is there a way to possibly copy my account info from My Chromecast or TiVo Stream, or Android TV?
