I have Hisense 65' UHD Google TV. My son threw a toy at it and broke LCD. But approx 2/3 of picture in top left corner is still ok horizontally and vertically. Can we use adb to make some changes to show picture only in top left corner at 2560x1440 resolution? The android version is 11 and there is no overscan option. The wm size by default shows 1920x1080(even though it is UHD) and pixel density 320. I tried changing both these options but it is still showing full screen. Also when I change these settings it says resolution not supported by Android TV only settings page work. Anyway to do what i m looking for? I am also ok with using a different streaming device (roku/firestick/chromecast) if it helps

I have a TCL Android TV (Version 11) and Disney+ app NEVER works on this TV. I can open the app and select a movie to watch but when I hit play I get a spinning circle for half a second and then a screen that says “there’s been an error visit help.DisneyPlus.com. The only recommendations there are to delete and remove app from TV, log out and back in or do a factory reset on the TV. NONE of which have worked. Any advice?!? So frustrating!

I sideloaded some apk from my pc to smart tv using adb. It worked fine affer some hours of running, it crashes and gets deleted with message..”unsafe app…” Is there anyway to prevent this?

I am looking for an app to can view photos and videos from a local SMB share.

I have tried to use VLC, FX file explorer, Photo Guru, Photo Gallery and Screensaver.

VLC and FX don't work well when folders have large number of pics (>500), photo guru is expensive (12$ per 6 month or so) and Photo Gallery and Screensaver somehowed worked fine, (3$ one time payment) but it was a big laggy and slow so I asked for a refund.

Does anyone have experience with any app that works well for this usecase?

Trying to claim the free trial offer on a google/android tv. We’ve tried different phones and credit cards, and it does show up under the credit card but we keep getting this.

I have an OLED screen so I'd love to have my screensaver be just a simple black screen, as OLEDs don't wear out of the pixels if they aren't lit up, and it would allow me to instantly resume my content instead of having to boot up my TV after every 5 minute break.

I haven't been able to find anything like this however so if anyone has any recommendations they'd be much appreciated, thanks! 🙂

Hi there. First time poster here. I'd like to use my one plus 7 pro to create an android TV box and I'd like to ask the community about tips.

First of all I'd have a few questions

1. Is there an android remote alternative that could be paired to a phone out there? I mean like the one you get with most android TV boxes and tvs.
2. Is the one plus 7 pro capable of outputting in 4K through it's usb-c or only 1080p?
3. Is this even a viable idea?

I know Android TV boxes are dirt cheap nowadays but I have a cracked but still working and fairly powerful phone and I'd like to see what I could do with it.

I have even deleted and reinstalled the app on my tv and it’s still not there. I don’t want to keep a series of shows on keep watching, when I have no interest in watching them anymore.

So, I recently updated my TCL google tv 6 series mini led (55r646) this week. ever since then ive been experiencing audio issues. before the update HDMI CEC was turned off and everything was working normal, after it was updated HDMI CEC was turned on, and audio would only work if left on. if cec gets turned off by myself, audio would be shut off (unless turned back on in tv audio settings). I have a Vizio 5.1.2 sound bar (model VIZIO M-SERIES M512A-H6 5.1.2) If I could get any help it would be greatly appreciated. I don't and won't ever feel the need to have HDMI cec turned on. I think its annoying rathe than helpful/convenient. Thank you.

I'm assuming this has a fairly simple solution that I just haven't been able to track down yet since most results using the relevant search terms are trying to install custom launchers lol.

But how do I revert to the stock Google TV launcher?

I bought a new Sony XRJ-77A80K and I would like to transfer files from my PC to my TV to watch them in KODI.

I planned to use apps like Air Exchange or File Commander to upload the files through the web interface.

The issue is the TV has only around 4GB of storage so I wanted to extend it using a USB Stick. The problem there is it seems write permission is blocked and I cannot seem to enable it. No matter if I use the USB as external storage or format it as internal storage, the apps cannot write to it.

I read that Sony seems to block write access on external sources so I‘m wondering, is there some way to make it work?

When I set up remote for Dynalink it connects to the Dynalink and does not give option to connect to the TV, as in to power Tv on/off.

Ive set up the CEC this allows me to turn on the TV but not turn off. The CEC powers the dyna-box and this wakes the TV.

Hi all, I have a couple of questions regarding the Google tv built in to my new Sony Bravia TV. I have noticed that apps downloaded such as Apple TV and Amazon no longer let me buy or rent movies directly from those apps. I either have to go to the relevant website or rent/buy from Google directly. My questions are please:

1.) Is this a fairly recent change on Google TV built in?

2.) When I do rent/buy a, lets say a movie from Amazon, from my Google Watchlist on the tv, is Google buying or renting it from Apple for instance?

3.) When I would rent or buy a movie directly from the relevant app such as Apple TV I had the option to rent/buy UHD quality. Renting or Buying on Google only shows SD or HD. So, does that mean I cannot get UHD quality streaming from Google?

I am sure that I will have more questions once I understand a bit more.

I'm looking at getting a new streaming device for my TV since my Mi TV Stick (old 1080p model) is painfully slow and lacks some features I want, such as HDR or actual useful Bluetooth and noticed pretty much all of them are on sale. I will mainly use it with a 1080p Toshiba TV, but very rarely with a 55" 4K LG downstairs. Which one of these is the best? And is 4K worth the extra money over 1080p? I kinda don't want to spend €50, but it can save me an upgrade in the future and will look better on the TV downstairs so if it's the better buy I'll go for it.

Is the lack of AV1 decoding on the Chromecast a dealbreaker compared to the Xiaomi TV Stick?

Hi Everyone, i have a Sony Bravia 4K TV that i bought back in 2020. I noticed that for a while i didn't recevived any updates, so when i went to check for updates it said that it was upToDate and the current version is Android 9. So my question is: " is it not anymore supported or do TV's not recive any new firmware besided the one they came with. I don't know a lot about smart TV's thats why i am asking :).

Need an 55" 4K android TV on which I can easily sideload apps (mostly VPN). What do you recommend?

I have GoogleTV on my Sony A80J. Staring a couple weeks ago, the Vudu app seems completely broken. The app will not pause by pressing the pause button. And just yesterday we noticed (we don't know how long it's been going on), the app won't output anything but stereo to the receiver. (Other apps on the TV work fine, putting Dolby Digital out the optical port properly.)

Anyone have any ideas? TV f/w is up to date, as is the Vudu app. Opening a ticket with Vudu just got a template response asking a bunch of irrelevant questions.

Sleep Timer App for Google TV?

I have my google chromecast with Google TV. I’m currently using it with my projector but the projector does not have HDMI CEC natively built in.

I usually sleep while watching Netflix/ YouTube and want the the google TV to shut off with a timer. I just need something that will kill the app (close app) after a certain time as my Chromecast will then automatically sleep after 15 min of idle and then my projector will turn off 10 min after.

If there’s any apps in the playstore I can download that would close the app after a certain min time period please let me know.
