I got a room in my house with poor WiFi connection. If I'll plug my WiFi dongle from my computer to the streamer, it would recognize it and use it as WiFi antenna? I got Sony Bravia tv and want to buy Mi box. The Mi box would recognize it?

I've come across an enterprise-level device that has an accessory which is a dock it sits in and has 3 USB inputs and one HDMI out. It allows the device to be used like an Android computer / screen.

I only know of one device so far that has this feature, will this be common to the newer mobile devices (this particular device is a SnapDragon 660 - 2.2GHZ octocore), or are there already docks for phones with HDMI out?

How do you think will this revolutionise Android TV?

I've seen so much conflicting information. I recently started using chrome cast in my home. I use them to cast via voice through Google Home to specific channels with my YouTube TV subscription. However I'd really want a box with an interface to go along with it.

So I started looking at the MiBox as I'm still in my return period for my Chromecast. I literally have a custom morning routine everyday that cast NBC from YouTube TV at five AM so I wake up to the local news. (I'm getting old I know.)

Have all the issues with this been wrinkled out? Will I be able to cast via Google Home, specifically YouTube TV channels like I can now and integrate my routines?

Sorry for another thread but I've never found a clear answer searching old threads.

i use my Philips 55PUS6581/12 mainly with Kodi/Plex and Netflix. Once a week i will watch football with my receiver on HDMI1.

Every time, when i start the TV it shows a black screen from HDMI1 input. This is very uncomfortable.

How can i boot up directly into the Launcer? I tryed the following thinks:
Starting up by using the "home" button on remote. - the same. "Launch on Boot"-App from the PlayStore. - Didn't work with Oreo (or just for me?)

Does anyone had a solution?

Just wondering if any of these Android TV boxes allow downloading for offline playback using the Google Play Movies app? I would love to take a few films in my collection with me to a hotel stay where there's bad wifi.

I'm not talking about an Android TV box, but an actual smart TV. It would be nice if I had a high-end, 4k HDR enabled TV in my living room to watch Youtube/Kodi/Live TV or for emulators, which is one of the main reasons I want one. But it would also be great if I could root it and use most features a rooted phone would have, and install a custom recovery like TWRP/CWM so I could restore if I ever messed it up. I wouldn't plan to install a custom ROM because it would not be optimised for my TV/incompatible/impossible. Like I'd just find myself not being able to select inputs or use the TV tuner if I installed a custom ROM, if it were even possible and not entirely pointless to.

Does anyone know if it's possible to root and install custom recovery on an Android smart TV? I tried Googling and found close to zero results, my best guess is that there may be a few models that are hackable, but most of them are pretty old. Most TVs are running Lollipop, which is a decent version of Android but I fear will soon be no longer supported by Google/other apps in the near future. (After all, it only came out after KitKat). I'm looking for a TV that has ample RAM/CPU speed so it doesn't become sluggish over time, especially when rooted and with hacks installed (and antivirus running in the background). Basically something I can use for a good 10+ years.

Not sure what's the etiquette regarding porn is in this sub but this is something I just want to confirm and put it to rest: there's no way to browse Pornhub on AndroidTV as if it were a ready for TV app, right?

I know there's a Pornhub android app but it's designed for touch screen and the only way to browse it in AndroidTV is installing a mouse toggle app which are cumbersome to say the least.

The closest to what I want is using the PuffinTV browser but it's nowhere near of what it would be to have a real AndroidTV app.

Or am I missing something?

I've been using a Shield TV for years. Works great. My google account is a google apps account with my own domain, to which I am administrator of the organization.

Today, I turned on my Shield TV and it's demanding user action. Now the Shield TV is telling me that my organization account requires screen lock security according to my organization's mobile device policy. It's an android TV... there is no lock screen.

Hi guys. I think I'm at a dead end so hopefully someone here can help. My remote that came with my mibox is lost. So I saw I could use the android TV app.

I tried doing so but when I try to pair with the mibox, it flashes the option on screen to pair but I have to click the 'pair' button. I can't do that since I don't have a remote. Is there a way around this or should I just buy a new remote?

I've got a Sony smart TV that has limitations on what it can actually install aa far as apps. Is there a way to make it install from Google instead of sony?
