While trying to get custom and other things. I messed up and got the US Firmware but it's the base version. Probably the company had issues and the updates are nowhere to be found on the internet.

I have been searching a recent version but had no luck. If possible please help.

Hi, I've bought a Android TV box e usb dvd driver. There is a app can read native DVD disk? (Yes I'm from 2000)

My new MiBoxes came in today and I love them. Except one huge con for me personally.

Once the boxes have been powered off for a few minutes, it's like their NICs/network connection goes off. Therefore when I ask Google home to turn them on, she can't find them. I can shut them down via voice, and if i ask to turn them on immediately afterwards they'll come back on. It's like the device falls asleep after X amount of time.

CEC is enabled, and this function also works flawlessly on my Chromecast.

Is there a setting, or workaround that prevents this "sleep" so I can power on the device via voice from Google Home? I use this with a custom routine with my smart home so it's crucial.

TL/DR: after a botched setup, my Mi Box S just boots straight into the Welcome / language selection initial configuration screen and stays there, and the remote is completely useless because it was previously paired but now it won't do anything.

Edit: Plugged in a USB mouse and/or keyboard to the USB port (both work!) to go through Setup. From there, I could delete the paired Remote & add it again.

Recently purchased Sony Bravia KD49XG9005 ethernet connected to my DSL router and a Win 10 NUC where I have my Plex Media Server. Not always but frequently I'll select the Plex app but the server isn't found. After I retry two or three times it seems to find it. The NUC is always on but maybe it's a setting somewhere? I reconnected everything here in the UK after moving from the US where it was connected to an old Samsung TV. It also doesn't connect to iPlayer and Netflix once in a while.

We have pretty poor internet and I'm having to reboot the router every couple of days. Could that be the cause?

I am living out of the UK and I am interested in watching the Wimbledon tournament with a VPN service and BBC iPlayer. I have tried ip vanish for a month in the past, but not for bbc iPlayer. There are many options on Google play store, so I am asking for your experience.

I usually don't use VPN services, so I am looking for a 1 to 3 months subscription. There is a great offer these days from Pure VPN for $12 for a year but I don't know the quality of the service...

I am using a Mi Box (older, not S) and plugging in a 4TB WD portable drive into its USB port. The drive gets assigned some random name when it connects (like 4564-KE86) and Kodi uses this for the path to import media from it. The problem is, every time I disconnect the drive, the MiBox powers off or sometimes just when it sleeps, the drive gets assigned a new random name and Kodi has to re-import all the media again and I lose all my watched flags.

Is this normal and, if so, is there any work around for this behavior?

Owned a shield for a few months, loved everything about it, amazing device but unfortunately the internet speeds were very bad and when I updated to a 4k setup had a really hard time playing high bitrate remux movies. I contacted support and didn't really get anywhere , and with the 5ghz wifi speeds in my bedroom being super slow on the shield but my xbox // phone // laptop all getting 20-30x the speeds on the same speed test in the same location finally decided to part ways with it but I'm back in the market for a device as impressive as the shield, or the next best thing. Preferably around the same price or less, what's a device that's comparable to the shield ? Looking for something really smooth , stable, and not laggy at all, thanks guys.

EDIT: thanks for all the feedback and suggestions guys but I really am not looking for a way to fix the shield, I've exhausted about every possibility already that you could mention short of wiring ethernet to my room, but my bedroom is really far away from the modem and I don't want a cable running across my entire home. Just looking for suggestions for other good android tv devices or the next best thing there is, thanks guys for all the feedback and help !

Has anyone had this issue before? My google home speaker ALWAYS shows, but my AndroidTV doesn't. It is driving me INSANE and I can't figure out how to fix it.

I want to get an Nvidia shield because it is the best android box with all the right features that I need and I know that with the Tegra X1 it is still the most powerful box but I am a bit hesitant in buying something with 4+ year old tech in it, especially since I want to be using it for at least 2-3+ years. With all the rumors is it possible that the new shield will have a new and better gpu, like a next gen Tegra X1 or is it just going to be a simple refresh with added Stadia optimization?

Or is it possible that sometime soon a competitor will release their own android tv box that is better and more powerful than the shield considering how much time they've had to catch up?

I don't need one for the next few months so I am fine waiting for a new model or a really good deal, but I just want to make sure that when I do I won't soon be regretting the purchase.

I have YouTube kids on android tablet and phone, there I can do a lot more settings regarding content. I can't even set age. The only setting I can choose is "search on/off". Most of the content is for 1-3 years.

Anyone else that has experience the same thing?

Or a recommendation what to use instead? Can't use the regular YouTube unsupervised because my kid is too little for that, anything can come up.

So, I have a TCL Android TV (the 40in A325 aka 40A325 which seems to be a Mexico-only model). I thought that my TV didn’t have an infrared (IR) receiver because the basic remote that shipped with the television is a Bluetooth one and the support staff that I talked to had no clue (sigh) and I didn’t find a single spec sheet stating that the TV had infrared input, so I was going to sell my Harmony 350 and get a Hub-based one.

But I found that the TV does in fact have IR (and I suspect all of TCL TVs do have), so I share this bit of knowledge.

I searched the internet for a TV set from TCL that could be controlled by infrared and I found that the U65X9026 was able to, so I added it to the configuration process in the MyHarmony app.

Almost everything works properly from the default configuration but I still had to modify some buttons (Live button to the TV TCL and the E button in the number pad to the OK TCL).

The multicolored and DVR buttons don’t seem to have functions programmed.

Maybe there’s another TCL Android TV model that has those buttons in the default controller, if someone else knows a TCL TV that it’s known to have IR controller please share the model.

Hope that this helps anyone else who has a Harmony 350 and an Android TV from TCL.

At risk of lowering the tone, I'm wondering if Android TV will provide a good experience watching PornHub - either through the PornHub android app, or via Chrome. Can anyone confirm how well it works?
