I have the newer shield model , I then learned the shield doesn't have IR sensors so I looked into purchasing a FLIRC to solve this issue. I managed to get everything working and its awesome using the Harmony but I had 2 issues, the remote wouldn't wake the Shield up but I managed to solve this on the Harmony by making a command that hits the "back" button when it turns everything on which wakes the system up by hitting a button.

My issue though is the remote won't put the shield to sleep, I don't see anything on the FLIRC or Harmony and even if I click on "power off" it doesn't do anything.

I was wondering if anyone had similar issues and found a solution? It's not a huge deal as everything else works and the system goes to sleep after 20 minutes anyway. Though I thought I'd ask and see if someone has a solution anyway.

When I add movie playlists to my Android TV home screen as channels, I am getting vertical poster spaces containing the horizontal banner artwork rather than the poster artwork. I tried clearing the cache for the Android TV Home service/app and then restarting my device. It didn't help. Using PlexKodiConnect. Any suggestions?

I just did the first update after buying my Android TV end of last year. Apparently Google decided it was a good idea to drop Android TV Launcher in favor of Android TV Home. I don't like the new design at all. Is there a way to change back to Android TV Launcher?

Anyone know how to get this working? I just saw an article where someone said it was able too, but mine doesn't do this. I dont see anything in the Plex options, and I don't see anything in the developer options.

I got a cyberghost VPN account and installed the app on my shield TV. If I use it on desktop I can watch iPlayer etc no problem. But on the shield it just errors out immediately. Are other apps aware if you have a VPN connection on the same device?

I was using 4.3.0.020 modified with leanback that was working great but now it's stating I have to be on home WiFi. When I click on the TV GO option nothing loads. Has anyone heard of a modified version of 5.x with leanback? TYIA

Got a new Mi Box S today. Can't find the Eurosport player app in Google Play. I downloaded the app to my previous Android Tv box. Why can't I find and download the app?

Whenever I start a video I get a black screen and neither the video nor the audio starts playing

Do not like the official YouTube player. Any suggestion? To state the obvious, I connect the android TV box to an actual, large TV for viewing.

Hello all, I have a Mi Box (assuming the original model, it was purchased from Walmart in Sept 2017). A friend spilled a drink on the remote and it no longer functions. Trying to find a replacement that matches it, the one I have uses 2 AAA batteries and has the Bluetooth logo on the back. When I search for remotes most if not all of the ones that include Bluetooth say they are for the Mi Box 3. The model # of mine is MDZ-16-AB. Will these replacement remotes (that say for the Mi Box 3) work?

Also, how will I be able to pair the new remote if I am not able to power on the Mi Box?

I have an TCL iffalcon tv which can play x265 format the inbuilt player plays x265 without lag but it doesn't seem to support all subtitle formats so i tried VLC and mx player which seems to lag a lot any fixes for this problem

So I just installed Twilight on my new Nvidia Shield TV. And for some reason the app will not open.

I get this error message. "You don't have an app that can do this."

Can anyone here point me to a working apk of Hotstar for Android TV? I used to have an old one which doesn't seem to work anymore since last week. The app just crashes on startup. I've done the usual clear cache/clear data/uninstall/reinstall. Thanks in advance.

Over the last few weeks my Google Assistant devices (except for Google Assistant directly on the TV) has stopped being able to turn off and on my shield TV box. The response I get is a positive one "you got it. Turning off the master bedroom TV", but nothing actually happens. I have 2 other shield TV boxes in my house and it works with the other 2. Any ideas?

Update 1 ... To clarify, the problem is not with the connection and communication between the Shield TV and the TV itself. The problem is that Google Assistant cannot turn the shield device on or off, even if the shield TV isn't connected to a TV at all.

Update 2 ... Problem identified. With Google app 3.9, it works fine. With the update to Google app 3.10 which started rolling out on 8 May, the ability to turn the TV on and off through Google Assistant is broken

I'm planning on buying a new TV (Philips Android TV) and am currently struggling to find good information what is or should be possible with a Android Tv and a Google home.

While reading in this sub and elsewhere I saw that the controls that are available with a chromecast are now enabled for Android TV but there where quite a few problems with them.

Can anybody tell me what works reliably? Especially the following things: Can you turn the TV on and off? Adjust Volume? Play and pause a video? Start apps? Cast something?
