Hello, I have a soundbar audio connected to my media box (via optical) so to have the media box remote turn everything on and in the end, off, I have the media box connected to the TV (AndroidTV 8) via HDMI for picture, and the TV with a HDMI cable to the soundbar only to turn it on via HDMI-CEC last.

But if I select the Philips AndroidTV sound output to HDMI, powering on and off the soundbar works well, but internal speakers keep on, echoing sound, and the media box apps like YouTube pause sound for 5 seconds when i press the main remote button to bring up the video progress bar (annoying). If I select the TV sound output to "Disable Internal Speakers" the soundbar works at 100% but I have to use 2 remotes to turn the whole system on, and later off.

My perspective is, if I force send HDMI-CEC wake command to the soundbar when the Android TV wakes up, I can workaround this issues, and have the whole system controlled via the media box simple remote to turn on and off.

Is there any app or way to configure AndroidTV to do this? Send HDMI-CEC wake command on start, and sleep command on Off ?

Is it going to update on it's own? How do I set it to do that? I don't wanna manually update all the time.

We just bought a TCL smart Google tv and it seems it is lacking a lot of features compared to previous android tv’s I’ve used before.

The two main problems:

• We cannot set up audio receiver controlling in the “remotes & accessories” tab of settings.
• The tv will not play audio out of the optical audio port

Has anyone ran into an issue similar to this? I was expecting something for smart and advanced but this tv seems to not be able to communicate with other entertainment devices very well at all…

Does anyone else have issues with Crunchyroll crashing on them constantly or is it just an Nvidia shield problem

All the manufacturers claim their boxes can stream 4, 6, or 8K.

However, I know from others that's not always the case. One Android box claims 4K but in fact the maximum resolution is 720P even when watching on an actual 4K tv. This has been verified with YT and a PC where the same video as 720P on the box claiming 4K but 2160P on a PC.

4K is supposed to be 2160P at 60 fps from my understanding.

The specs below appear to show the maximum specs at 1080p (not 2160P) or am I misreading the specs:

H.265/HEVC Main/Main 10 profile@level 5.1 high-tier

H.264/AVC BP/MP/HP@level 5.1, H264/AVC MVC

VP6/VP8/VP9/ MPEG1/MPEG2/MPEG4/

It appears there is a slot for USB and easy desoldering for eMMC but does the firmware allow either or both of these things?

I start a live stream and if the stream has been live for 00:01:00 it will automatically start at 00:00:30

Any idea how to fix this so it starts right at the live time?

Even fast forwarding gets 5 seconds behind the live time.

I'm wondering if sideloading app would invalidate the certification for Netflix/Disney+/etc... Or anything else that might invalidate them.

Bought an Onn Android device for streaming from apps on my TV. Mainly because it was spoken of mostly in positive terms.

Device itself is quick and responsive and does what I expected.

But my device hangs or reboots daily, especially after not using for many hours, as I'm at work.

When I get home, choice Netflix, Plex or whatever app for streaming, it will work for like 3-5 minutes, and then reboots by itself. Sometimes it will not reboot, it just hangs. The LED turns off and there is no other way than remove power to wake it again.

Has anybody similar experiences?

I have switch the power cable and wall plug several times, as i don't use the original one, as i'm in Europe.

Is there anyway to put the Onn tv box into standby mode? It does it by itself but after many hours of no use. Do I really need to unplug the chord in order to not have it on all night?

Recommend me some useful apps I should have. I'm also streaming a lot trough UPNP/SMB using VLC is there anything better I should consider ?

I have the onn uhd box and wanna know what and how to use the button to the left of the google assistant button.

So I have a 4K tv yet the video glitches in the vlc media player.

By glitch I mean, the video stops playing while audio keeps playing.

I am troubleshooting this problem in my tv is by going back to home and then visiting the vlc app to continue where I left off. But this problem happens a lot, so is this App being buggy or is it some setting issue?

Guys, help me to choose a TV.

I'm on a budget of a max of $1,200, and I'm wondering whether I should choose TCL QLED (65C725) over HISENSE (65U8G) and SAMSUNG (65AU8000) for the same price.

I will be mostly using it for streaming movies and TV shows and just a bit of gaming. Priority is for movies/TV shows.

I'm thinking the TCL one is really good with it being a QLED one. The HISENSE TV has the quantum dot feature too apparently. But I was told SAMSUNG crystal UHD has better picture quality than a TCL QLED or HISENSE ULED. Also, SAMSUNG performs better in every way compared to other brands I've mentioned, right?

What should I choose?

Edit: I'm thinking LG 65UM7300, since my friends suggested that to me. What do you think?
