I'm planing my outdoor projector setup. Android TV projector will have two speakers and I would like to somehow cast music via youtube app, but the screen/projecting should be off.

Is this possible or will projector automatically turn on projecting when content is being casted?

My tcl google tv only recommends shows and movies from apps I don't use. I am logged into Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, crunchyroll, and Amazon prime. But for some reason my Google rv only recommends apps I am not logged into or don't use like tubi tv, or peacock. Is there a way to change this in the setting? I like having recommendations but I want recommendations for apps I actually use. I also don't get why Google tv is trying to push Apple tv on me.

I subscribe to a streaming service that does not have a mobile or an android TV app, and have to use it thru browser. I can easily create web apps for different channels thru Chrome on the phone but can I do the same with any browser on the Android TV? I have the Nvidia Shield Pro.

Looking for a player for videos on a usb drive in folders - Movies / Music / TV.

I would like the player to go straight to these folders when opened, so I can choose which files to play.

Videos are just MPEG2 / MP4 / MKV Flash Videos - no DV / HDR.

Have tried:

VLC Player:

Audio but no video - just the orange logos.

MPV Player:

Plays videos fine but if playing a video in a folder, pressing back button goes back to the list of folders, instead of the current folder.

Also shows system folders like 'System Volume Information'

MX Player:

Works fine but shows all folders ie sub folders in main folders.

Just (Video) Player:

Have to choose USB drive on startup ie [/storage/505...].

Not very intuitive to navigate.

Can't find a settings option.

Brand new Shield Pro owner. Side loaded in STN and logged in. It won’t load any of my subscriptions, history, content, etc. Keeps telling me to log in or check my network. Tried rebooting and logged in multiple times. On current version.

Anyone having this issue?

Coming from a Roku which didn’t have different accounts. Do those with family generally make a separate account for each family member?

Does it sound reasonable to have one for me, one for my wife, one for each kid (13 and 16), and then one for family? That is how I have most subscriptions set up (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

So, being able to hide things from that row is nice, but in some cases there are shows that I hid a while back but would now like to show up there. Is there a way to bring back individual shows that had been hidden (resetting so that all previously hidden shows reappear would be fine, even)?

I have tried to find a solution but, my controller doesn’t vibrate on my onn android tv box. The game I play on stadia supports vibration and my controller is also supported on stadia so I suspected that it was because of my android tv box.

I don't have a particularly high end media player (Realme 4K stick) but the only playback I have the occasional issue with is Twitch.tv. I get warnings of high cpu temperature and sometimes it crashes. This is at 1080p 60fps. I don't have any problems playing 4K content on different streaming services and I thought they had to be higher bitrate.

The Walmart Onn. 4k streaming box I am currently using keeps HDR enabled after I explicitly disabled it in the device settings (the device is up to date on Version 10, Firmware Version 1.01.36). I want to disable HDR because it keeps making media I play on the device very dark. I tried using Youtube but HDR was still enabled for videos even after I disabled it (there are no HDR options in the Youtube app settings but I disabled it in the device settings before I started playing the video). I then tried using SmartTubeNext (open source Youtube client for androidTV devices) and I set a resolution preset in the settings to not use HDR but when I played videos in the app HDR was still enabled. The TV I am using does not have HDR built into it and it doesn't have any auto dimming feature. Is there any way to actually disable HDR on my device?

The temporary solution:

I believe a temporary solution to this issue would be to turn the HDR option on, exit the HDR menu, go back to the HDR menu, and then turn the HDR option off (or if HDR was already enabled then turn it off, exit the menu, turn it on, exit the menu, and turn it off). I did the following steps and it seems HDR was turned off for me. Since this issue was most likely caused by a bug the HDR option might eventually turn on when you restart the device.

i have my nvidia shield connected to a 4k tv. would be nice to have firefox to browse the web with my kb and mouse. is there a reason firefox is not available? or do i have to sideload?

Looking for any recommendations for an AndroidTV box (at or under $75 U.S.) to stream a couple of websites to watch on my TV. I would need to watch/stream via a browser so one that runs Chrome, Brave, Firefox or similar and preferably comes with a remote that has a keyboard/mouse function would be great! TIA

Is anyone aware of any certified android tv devices, other than the nvidia shield or the askey adt-3, that have pushed an ota update to Android 11 (from an earlier version)?

I've recently manually upgraded a device from 10->11, and found the process to be quite perilous. I'd like to see an updater-script from an ota, in order to see how it's done via that method.

I have a number of video files that I've ripped from my DVDs (that I own) over the years so that I can store the content digitally (mostly as MP4 files). I'm wondering if anyone could recommend any methods to set these videos up to be accessible on my Google TV (via Chromecast w/ Google TV). The ideal is something that I can set up that's easy-enough to navigate and use so that my 6-year-old can find the movies he likes just using the standard remote that comes with the Chromecast w/ Google TV (he doesn't have a mobile device or tablet).

I know this is an out-there kind of request, so any guidance is truly appreciated!

My Chromecast for Google TV just updated my YouTube app. I noticed YouTube TV now has a new jingle that plays when you open the app.

So I got my self TLC android TV and switched from old surround system to 2.1 studio monitors.

I put audio through USB-A DAC DragonFly Black. Audio got through, but I cannot control the audio volume thru remote.

Is there any software solution to this problem? Any body tryied to control volume this way?

Tried a few radio players but most seem to be for phone and not really usable using just a remote.

Any suggestions?
