I know nvidia shields can act as plex servers and connect to NAS devices, but if I hook up an external hdd (non networked), will it be able to act as a nas? Can I run pc backups to it?

A while ago I read a few posts about ethernet adapters for the Mi Box. Since then the Nougat beta is out. Has there been any fixes? Which adapter works best right now, running beta 1028? With no problems loosing connection or having to reboot. And with no problems after device has been sleeping and waking up?

And which adapter gives me the best speed?

Is it the official Xiaomi ethernet adapter that is the best and most reliable?

I have a Mi Box running 7.0 beta 1028. I am trying to get a Tasker task to run everytime I wake the device from sleep. The task requires wi-fi to run. And i have noticed that when I turn off the box and then on, the task will run fine. But if i leave the box sitting for a while the wi-fi connection will be lost and it has to reconnect when it wakes up. This makes my task not work as intended.

Is there a way to disable wi-fi from turning off and having to reconnect when the device has been sleeping?

Is there any system files i can Edit? I have root access to the system files.

I know i can do an Wait until wi-fi is connected in the Tasker task, but this makes it take 5-6 seconds before it runs (when wi-fi finally connects).

I have an external HD i've been using with my shield tv as expandable storage and for a while it was showing up as a network storage device that I would then use to transfer media to.

after I updated to 6.2, i don't see the shield listed anymore (on Mac), can't access it via IP address or smb://shield. not sure what happened. storage access over local network is still active.

anybody have suggestions?

As the title says, my Shield TV completely stopped responding to OK Google. Any ideas why?

What commands can I use on my Google Home to control my Android TV?

For example I had to push GTA 3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas from the Play Store website to the device.

Ideally, when someone rings your smart video doorbell, it should open up video in a PiP window on your Android TV showing you who is at the door. Are there any smart video doorbells which currently do this?

Which would be better to play 4k video on my Mi Box? A portable connected through USB or a NAS over my network?

Anyone have a similar experience? I removed and reinstalled the app, and did a hard power boot on the Shield. Still comes up to an error the last two days that states: "Pandora is currently conducting system maintenance, please try again later"

None of my stations will come up, but I can still play stuff with voice search. Kinda glitchy stuff happening there sometimes too from a ui perspective.

US a raspberry pi has a server hosting all of the games

Retroarch as the interface

USB hub with 4 snes style controllers

I sideloaded google duo to my shield tv, set up was easy. Using a Logitech C920 as a webcam setup was also easy. Drivers were already installed. Sideloaded set orientation app to force duo into landscape, also easy setup. Tested and works like a charm.

One thing that bothers me is answering calls.. you need to swipe up.. which means you need to use the android remote app to answer and swipe or a mouse. Anyone know of any apps that can auto swipe up or disabled gestures on certain apps. Maybe I am missing a hidden setting somewhere. Thanks

I do not yet own an Nvidia Shield TV but I had questions about the Movies Anywhere app that was released via the 11/22/17 update.

Does it allow 4K playback either through that app or through the Google Play Movies app? And even if you bought a 4K Dolby Vision movie on iTunes, would it play back in 4K HDR10 via Google Play Movies (assuming the movie was listed to purchase in 4K on Google Play Movies)? Thanks

EDIT: Also I think it may be too good to be true, but theoretically couldn't all Android users take advantage of Apple's iTunes HD to 4K free upgrades with all new movies releasing in 4K? If not, would it work to remove iTunes from your Movies Anywhere account and then re-add it?

I'll be getting a Shield in the next couple of days and wondering how is the multi controller support working.
One of the main reasons to buy this would be to use the local streaming feature and be able to play couch co op many games with my girlfriend and friends.
I'll have the Shield controller, 2 wired Xbox 360 and 1 Playstation 3 controller.

I'd love to have 4 players on the Shield for those Overcooked and Battleblock Theater sessions with friends, but most of the time I'll be playing just 2 players with my girlfriend.

Does it depend on the game? the controller? any tips I shoud now? It'd be amazing if I could use the PS3 controller since it's bluetooth and that'd mean no cables, but I'd have no problems using the Xbox wired controllers if that meant better performance.

Tv app repo shortcut maker doesn't allow it.

Over the past couple of days, this toast message keeps popping up on my Shield TV. I haven't changed anything. I do have an HDHomeRun connected to my network and watch it with the Live Channels app. I haven't changed any settings and everything still works fine, but having that message constantly pop up is quite annoying. Any thoughts?

Anyone notice that the onscreen keyboard won't pop up if you have a USB keyboard connected to your Android TV device? If I unplug the keyboard it'll pop up. Curious if anyone has a solution to this. I don't always want to use the USB keyboard.
