Moonlight game streaming on Mi Box - high latency

Hi, All.

I'm trying to stream games from my PC(i7, 8 GB RAM, NVidia GTX1050 with Geforce Experience) to my Mi Box and the latency is 150ms which causes major lagging. The PC is connected to my router via ethernet and the Mi Box is connecting via AC Wifi, literally next to it.

I've tried lots of tweaks found on Google, but nothing helps.

I've also tested it on my Android tablet and it only showed 13ms latency.

Any ideas?

Kodi Internet Connection on Mibox

I'm trying to get Kodi to index my movie library on my HD, but it can't seem to connect to the internet to get information from The Movie Database. I tried to install another source, but it also cannot connect to the official repository to do that. This leads me to believe it cannot connect to the internet at all. Any ideas?

I compared Shield TV with Mi Box, and Mi Box has lower resolution

I tested them on a 1080p TV. I tried different apps and the Shield always has better video quality and contrast. I checked the settings and they both output 1080p. It is not just in videos but also the launcher is more washed out on the Mi Box. Anyone with both notice that?

Xaomi Mi Box plays files that are 4:3 aspect ratio (movies) at double-triple speed on 4k tv using Plex. Anyone else?

I originally bought the Xaomi Mi Box while using a very old 720p tv, and it worked masterfully, aside from the fact that DTS decoding doesn't seem to actually work. Said 720p tv got some dead pixels so to speak and I decided to finally get a modern TV.

Now when I play a file through Plex, whether it be TV/Movie, if it has an aspect ratio other than 16:9, the video plays quickly, while the audio plays at normal speed. It's not as though the video is being fast forwarded either, more like a very high framerate.

I've changed about every setting on the TV and Mi Box to try and solve the issue, including changing the device's resolution to 1080p, 720p, 480p, etc. Strangely, none of those have any affect.

I would assume it's the TV somehow screwing it up, but I recommended the device to someone else who has a completely different 4k tv, and he too experiences the same problem.

I tried Google searching but I didn't find any relevant information. Does anyone else experience this issue, and is there any solution? Since it doesn't occur in other apps, I assume it may be a bug with the Android TV Plex app somehow. Still, I think it's very weird that it works flawlessly on a 720p TV, but when connected to a 4k tv, even when the resolution of the device is set to 720p, the issue still persists..

Thanks!

Playing 20,000+ bitrate files on Android TV

Hi all. Long time user of an RPI where I direct played pretty much anything I tried from my server, however it does not support HEVC/4K.

I have since switched to a Xaomi Mi Box which arrived today. After setup, I installed Plex however any file I play above 20Mbps just stutters/buffers/slows down/juddery and generally unplayable, this means I cannot Direct Play anything above 20,000 bitrate (quite a problem as i have a lot of high rips on my Plex server). I have a 320Mb/s Internet connection so I highly doubt that's the problem, although the Mi Box is only wifi. When changeing "Original file" to "Convert to 20Mb/s" i get no issues.

I run a rclone/node-gdrive-fuse setup using Google Drive, and I can download files upwards of 10Mb/s from Plex on my wired PC, so I'm not really sure what the problem may be.

Can anyone shed some light or give ideas as to a way to fix this?

YouTube won't save watch history

I have 2 of the Nvidia Shield TV (gen 1) boxes, one with the hard drive and one without. I updated both devices to the newest firmware released last week (5.2) and ever since the YouTube app does not save my watched video in the history. This has the effect of not updating my recommendations. Anybody know how to fix this?

Edit: Solved! Thanks /u/Dwansumfauk

Shield is connected via Ethernet - No longer available as a Cast device?

Hi everyone,

I recently hooked up my Shield to our ethernrt network, and today I realized that it no longer shows up as an option for google cast from my phone.

Does the shield need to be connected to wifi in order to cast from my wifi-connected phone? I don't think it's possible for the shield to be on wifi and Ethernet simultaneously. Thanks :)

Edit: thanks for the downvotes on my comments? I feel like this setup is pretty standard. My router (Google Wifi) only has one Ethernet output so I have everything (including the router) connected to an Ethernet switch instead.

Mi Box won't boot. Help!

Hey guys. So my Mi Box (MDZ-16-AB) stopped working. As in, it refuses to boot.

When connected to AC power, the front white LED keeps on blinking and that's about it. There is nothing happening on the screen. No initial splash screen or anything else.

This is where I'm stuck.

Also, there's a red LED light emitting from the audio port, which I've never noticed before. Maybe, it started when it stopped functioning? Here's a video if that.

What I've tried:

  • Kept unplugged for 2 hours and tried to boot. Failed.
  • Kept plugged in for 2 hours and checked. Failed.
  • Tried to go to recovery mode (back button + "OK" button) multiple times. Failed.
  • Different HDMI cables and on different display units. Failed.

I am out of ideas and its getting very frustrating. Any help from you all would be greatly appreciated.

P.S It was bought from theSolutionShop(UK) in late April 2017. It has not been modified in any way.
