I have a 4k Mi Box that is hooked up to the TV with HDMI and to the receiver with the Optical output. At night i want to run google play music or Spotify through the receiver, however as soon as i turn the Mi box on, it also switches on the tv.

Is there a way to prevent the mi box from switching on the tv when it resumes from sleep ?

My current setup for watching our video library:

1. files saved on external hard drive connected to router
2. Plex server installed on our one desktop that is mostly on 24/7
3. Use Plex to watch files on tv, iPads & laptops

The problem is that sometimes the desktop loses connection to the networked hard drive (solved by just opening the folder in Windows Explorer). And sometimes if the desktop is being used for gaming, it causes stuttering etc when trying to play files.

I'm wondering if an Android TV box can

1. have a hard drive connected to it
2. share said hard drive on the local network
3. run Plex server off the Android box

Thoughts?

So i am curious if anyone else has encountered issues with PlutoTV integration with Live Channels.

The main one i find is that when they add or remove channels, i seem to have to delete the app and re-add, to get EPG to work again.

Today on both my nexus player and shield, I had multiple entries for each channel (3 to be exact) with just the middle one showing correct.

Easy to fix, mostly just an annoyance. Was curious if others have seen this, and if others have found better work around.

I've been trying to play video files with AC3 audio tracks on my Mi Box and they're not working. I'm using VLC. Any tips on how to fix this?

Just wondering if it runs it well and if there are any problems.

Anyone ever have an issue when watching something on Netflix and suddenly the screen just becomes choppy? I have a Samsung 4k 55 inch TV and utilize the motion smoothing feature on it, so I can tell when all of a sudden it's no longer smooth. Basically it tends to happen about halfway through watching a normal length movie, and it'll fix itself if I pause then play the movie.

It's not a huge issue, just a rather annoying one.

Is there any responsive (changes colour based on whats on the screen) bias lighting solution (preferably out-of-the-box vs DIY) that I can use with my Sony Bravia Android Tv (KDL43W800c)?

Basically what I really really want is for the bias lighting to respond to video played off apps like Kodi/Youtube etc and also work with my set-top box. i.e. work with apps as well as through HDMI.

I've had a look at the Hyperion project and other ambilight clones but I can't get a lot of the parts and most only work off of HDMI inputs. Is there any out-of-the-box solution (without the DIY tinkering) that would work?

I would love to get an inexpensive solution (one can dream) but really any help in pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Am I missing something​? They announced it on the 5th of January, has the rollout even started? They went silent on it. Does the new shield have assistant already?

So I'm trying to use the vlc app on my Sony smart TV to view the stuff I have on my laptop. The TV app is connected to my laptop and I can access the media library there. The problem is that my vlc media library is apparently empty. Any idea on how to add the files to the vlc media library so my TV can access them remotely?

I've searched all over Google and reddit and I've found a few of you with similar problems.

My mi box every time I turn off the TV loses audio when you turn the TV back on.

Restarting it doesn't work. Pulling cable out doesn't work. Resetting it doesn't work. Changing settings in the audio area doesn't help. (it's usually set to hdmi one true the others) changing inputs doesn't work. What does work sometimes is rebooting then turning it off from the cable then changing inputs or as random combo of them.. None on their own do it. And my other mi box isn't doing this. Edit :to be clear it reverts back every time I turn it off so I have to go thrive it every time.

I also noticed this immediately following the latest update. Maybe there's a way to roll back?

So can any of you help? I'd be really appreciative if any effort or info.

I love this device this is the only issue I've had with it.

Figured out how to power on/off with it already. Have any of you figured out how to get the Home & Play/Pause buttons to work or found another remote to program them from?

So what's the general feeling here about how successful Android TV is? I'm hoping for more apps from tv networks. I really liked using it at first but have reverted back to using my Xbox one since some of my favorite shows weren't on the available apps
