According to this the Shield can't. I want to get a Shield but it pretty much makes all the content on my external drives worthless without something in the middle to act as a file server. Please tell me this article is wrong.

Edit: sorry, forgot the question mark

Maybe this old news, but I haven't seen it done yet. I was excited to hear Assistant is coming to Android and wanted to try this out.

Seems to work with any cast enabled app. Not just YouTube or Netflix. Google Home can control any media casted as just can't initiate it.
Edit: Trigger Warning
I can pair the remote but don't see how to use the mic with windows 10.
I read that Android TV 7.0 has DV support...
Here
Does this mean the Nvidia Shield supports it? Where can I get a straight answer? Are there release notes for Nvidia Shield TV updates?
Could we potentially get an update for the flairs for the Nvidia Shield to distinguish between Gen 1 and Gen 2 (Shield I, Shield II, Shield Pro II).
There's definitely some differences between the Gen 2 Basic and the Gen 1, and Gen 2 Pro in regards to things like IR, Controller, Remote, Micro SD, etc. I imagine it would help for problem solving.

Are there any DVB-C USB tuners that work with android 7?
I thought about buying an USB tuner for my shield TV when the android 7 update will finally arrive. Unfortunately there are no DVB-C tuners in the list of officially supported devices.
Does anybody know if there is one that works anyway?

I pre-ordered one of the new 16gb Shield TVs and wanted to add external storage when it arrives. For those of you who have them, is there a significant performance difference between an SSD and HDD with the Shield to justify spending more on an SSD?
I don't have a huge library, and I'm mostly using this for OTA DVRing, Kodi and Netflix.
Edit: The Gen 2 16 GB Shield TV doesn't take SD cards, just USB.
Disney is coming out with a 4k steaming device. It's not clear if it's regular Android or Android TV since the interface is a Disney skin. The presenter mentioned that you can download more apps from the Google Play store and runs on an 8 core processor. The device will be out later this year for $99 with an optional controller for $39.

hey guys
running a mi box on my smart TV. I have daydream screensaver set up to a third party app to display photos. Problem though, is while I'm running Kodi app the screensaver won't turn on if I'm inactive for a while. Any idea how to fix this? Only options are to use built in Kodi screensaver. Don't want to do that since I paid for this very nice photo display app.
Thanks!

Can you stream these through kodi or something? Never used kodi dont really know how it works
I just purchased a Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV. The apartment building I live in has the type of wifi like hotels have, where you have to sign in, or register each device. There's no way to do this on the Mi box, so I need the MAC address to register the device. I thought I would find it in the "about" section in settings but it's nowhere to be found. Any tips on how to find the MAC address?
I'm looking for something cheap. Recommendations welcome.
I just ordered a Nexus Player and an HDHomeRun Prime from eBay to use as a cable/streaming box. I have a Google Home. Can I use it to say, for example, "Tune to channel 507" or "open Hulu"?
After the last update, sony placed this card which just has info about upcoming update and link to its update page. It is not dismissibe. Lucky me, I got two of em.

So when I signed up for the service live stream was working. Then after the latest Nexus update it just stopped working. All access wood say it couldn't determine my location and clicking on settings would give my a spinning circle.
Today I fixed it. I went in to location properties for Android. I set it to not use Wi-Fi to get location and then cleared the data and cache for CBS under location preferences. When I went back into the CBS app I had to sign back into the app and it made me turn Wi-Fi location back on. When I did this streaming started working again. I will note I had already cleared cache and data before and that had not fixed the issue.
Can a microphone be added to a nexus player or Mi Box to use its voice capabilities?
