Is there an easy shortcut or an app that can close an app on Android TV?

For example, if I am watching TV on Vue and want to stop it, how do I do it without going into settings or starting a new app? Right now if I hit the desktop button the video plays in the background. I love that feature up until I want to quit the app. I was hoping I could just hold a button down while the app was selected and click close... but that doesn't seem possible.

Edit: I was referring to using settings and go to app and go to force close. However it seems that by just entering settings closes the app. I don't think it does, but just to confirm, the streaming video isn't going on in the background, is it?

I sideload an application on my mi box. When I started the app, a pop up appears asking me to either hit two buttons (OK and later).

I am using the arrows on the remote and I can only choose the options on the app itself. It does not go to the pop up options.

Is there a way to choose buttons on the pop up?

I don't like using the airmouse or a wireless mouse for non leanback app like PIA. Is there any way to run commands to have ATV turn on an app (this I can do with harmony)and then toggle the slider that needs a mouse to on and off (separate commands)?

I got a Mi Box for Christmas and I like it, but it's annoying that I have to have one remote for my TV and another for the Mi Box.

Can anyone recommend a remote that will work with both of them? And I mean an actual hardware remote, Google just keeps showing me phone apps.

Hello, I have a Philips TV with Android TV built in, For whatever reason every time I turn on my TV it has disconnected from my WiFi and connected to a nearby open network. It is massively inconvenient to have to reconnect every time.

On Android there is an option to stop a phone from connected automatically to open networks, But I cant see such an option on Android TV!

Has anyone got their mibox (mdz-16-ab) to work with either of these? Pandora continuously says "loading, please wait " and the android TV app just loops. Both work fine on my nexus player however.

Hi. So I got Sony TV (W800C) before few months ago. Today I was going to turn the tv off so I get close from it and I saw to pixels with red light without pic. I think it's stuck but not sure if it's dead pixels! When I get white screen it shows me the two pixels with red color, when I get black screen nothing shown for me... I heard that there are some apps can fix that problem since my tv is android. Any tips to fix it? Info: TV Type: LED Model: W800C 3D 2015, but I bought it this year.

Good day, I'm having quite the problem finding a good value android tv box.

My requirements are the following: needs to have a optical out use mainly netflix, plex, youtube and 2 other custom program from iceland , Sarpurinn and 365 miðlar app (if anyone knows those) I don't have a 4k tv On a budget, wanna find something good value.

Could anyone advice? this question probably gets asked many times, but I couldn't find anything solid on the internet, too many options or confused if its an android box or an android tv, I want the latter.

Hi, I'm having some difficulties while casting from my Macbook Pro. I have a Sony KDL-43W800C TV that I'm trying to cast to from my MacBook Pro running Sierra 10.12.2.

I have been gifted some headphones for Christmas so I don't have to have the TV on so loud late at night (shift worker). I'd like to not wake up or keep up the housemates while watching the TV. Is there any way to connect the headphones to either my MacBook or Android phone, the cable isn't long enough to connect to the TV without sitting ridiculously close to the screen. If there's a software solution before a hardware solution gets purchased it would be preferable.

I'm generally casting using an extension called Videostream through Chrome on the Macbook as it's one of the easiest to use things I can find to play avi/mkv files stored locally on the MacBook.

If anyone has any ideas I would gratefully take them. Thanks

Hello, a couple of weeks ago I started to notice every time I would restart my shield it would reboot 3 times before stopping. Now the problem persists for 10 reboots or more.

I'm running the latest build, which is Marshmallow. The storage is about 60% full with movies and TV shows. I think I read somewhere that that may be the problem as Android is not used to having so much storage space. I was wondering if people have had similar issues and what they did to fix it, thanks.

I bought my mi-box to bring to work and use in camp. My problem is that our camp internet uses that hotel type internet log on where you have to go to a webpage to accept the terms of useage. I cannot figure out how to do this on the mi box. There are no web browsers incan bring up or log on screen that pop up to help me log on. If someone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

As stated in title, is there a way to do this? I know you can from sleep, but I can't seem to figure out how to power on without getting up and physically touching the power button on the system. Any other way of doing this?

My Mi Box presents some issues with my TV, but works fine with my neighbor's. My TV is 1080p with no HDMI 2.0 support. My neighbor's is a new 4k set. Netflix titles will frame skip a lot on my TV, every now and then video goes through a "hiccup", skipping 6 to 8 frames. On his TV, this does not happen.

A user at another Mi Box forum suggested the following:

"Hdmi 2.0 AND HDCP 2.2 are required for Netflix to generate >480p streams on authenticated devices. It queries the hardware for correct response."

Does this make sense?

Roku has channels that when paired with Harmony Hub can launch these channels, so I have a nexus player and Mi box and was trying to recreate this so a button on the harmony remote launches an app like Netflix.

I have bought a few apps for my phone that I would like to side load onto my Shield TV (One example is the game Pandemic, although I don't know how will it will work on Android TV).

But how do I get access to the apk to install it? I know there are a lot of sites to get apks for free apps, but what's the best way to get access to apks for paid apps that I already own? I tried sending it to my shield from a browser but it says it isn't compatible...

Does anyone have the APK for the Fire TV Syfy Now app? Wondering if I can sideload to my Nexus Player...
