Basically, can you go online and by an android tv box, without it being full of Kodi applications pre-installed?

And secondly, is it cheaper? Or should i just buy one and remove the kodi content.

I am trying to find one, but all i get is Amazon or Ebay listings full to the teeth with Kodi apps. Half of the boxes are lesser imitations (M8S knockoffs)

And would being not pre-installed with nonsense, be cheaper to me?

So I went browsing on the Google Play store on my NSTV recently to see if there are any new apps and all of a sudden I'm seeing apps that are not meant/optimized for Android TV. Apps that you would normally have to side load. Chrome and the Papa John's pizza app for example. Not every app is there like need for speed, so I'm a little confused if this is a bug or something. Anyone else experiencing this?

What are videos 720p 1080p 4k? Are they considered graphics? Sorry im just curious?

Hi, do you know if the Sony Bravia 2015 model is getting Android Nougat anyone soon? Would mind having a slightly faster interface.

I didn't quite notice when this stopped but i am certain that i saw an option for for 5.1 and 2 channel sound on Netflix on my Android TV. I don't get that anymore.

Nothing else in my setup has changed. Has anybody else noticed this? Do you know what the fix for this is?

I was using optical out with the PCM setting. Optical can put out only 2 channel uncompressed audio.

Changing setting to Auto 2 got me the 5.1 settings back.

So I did some poking around recently and figured out that I could download other launchers like HALauncher which are much more customizable than Sony's customized version of Leanback. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to set HAL as the default launcher? I vaguely remember reading somewhere (that I now can't find) that Android TV 6+ may have done away with the ability to sideload other launchers? Anyone have any insight into this, and/or suggestions?

I assumed this was due to Nougat being in beta in the past. Now that I'm on official 7.0, I am very surprised such a popular app is broken...

My PC doesn't support miracast. Will android TV allow me to mirror my full desktop like a chromecast and let me watch hardware accelerated MKV videos from daum player smoothly?

Also, I'm assuming it will run Kodi smoothly at 1080p?

Perhaps not the best place to ask this question, but are there any other streaming technology that would serve those two use cases?

I have a Nexus player that I actually really enjoy. My dumb Samsung TV died today. I'm thinking about getting a new TV with build in android. The WAF (wife acceptance factor) is pretty high, because we saw recently one that had a dedicated Netflix button on the remote. What do you think? Should I invest a few bucks for a new "real" smart TV (can you recommend one) or should save a few bucks and keep the Nexus player around with a new "dumb" TV?

Basically, I bought a Sony Bravia xbr55x810c and am loving it. My only issue is that Google Cast had been giving me horrible trouble. I am using the same WiFi as the TV. I have updated Google Cast on both my phone and my TV. I am using a Google Nexus 6 running 6.0.1 and I can't understand why I am having this issue. I have tried troubleshooting online, and I can't find any info on how I could possibly fix it. If anyone has any ideas I am more then willing to listen.

What are the best apps and games out there that can be easily installed to Android TV from the browser?

(I just installed Chrome. I don't remember ever seeing it on the device.)

Anyone else tried out the beta yet? It looks great but it seems like hardware acceleration is not working. All PVR HD recordings are super laggy/choppy. I really like the new simplified look so I'd love to get it working. Haven't tried it on my Shield yet.

hey guys, are android TV already able to be fully independant from any other device except receiver ? able to play high rate media files 4K mkv or MP4 natively ? i guess with apps you should be able to connect through windows shared folders to play files, flawless netflix playback ?

could you guys give me some feedback, im thinking to buy one in order to replace my whole setup and leave just TV + Receiver.

So I hear a lot about how the nexus player is so much worse than the Sheild. I am not paying $200 though and that is final. My question is what are all the problems the nexus player had that makes it bad? I mean it is around like $60 and a decent fake android TV is $80ish. Those are ones with like 2GB ram and hdmi 2.0 and ac wi-fi and all the things. So I was just wondering how bad the nexus player is? Maybe a list of all the problems you had when you had one. Also would the Fire TV for like $90 on sale be better then the nexus player? Or can you not side load android on that. Also I see this "This subreddit is intended for "Android TV" branded devices. I can't get my multi working on modern combat 5 the one from the Google store so I downloaded the one on the aptoide store and multiplayer worked just fine but now there's an update so the aptoide app has stopped working so I went for Google play again and exactly the same problem has anyone else had this problem?because game loft are just giving me the run around I have an apple device the game plays fine on so its got nothing to do with my router or wifi speed other games run at 60fps can anyone tell me how to fix this plz ??

I am using Vu 43" 4K smart TV which have Android 4.4.3 version. It is great for use as it have play store and supports any camera or mike. I goes well with Kodi to watch live US TV and play games like Asphalt 8. Now the problem I am facing is it is unable to play streaming apps like Jio Play and Hotstar(I have premium subscription of both apps) though the app gets opened and work perfectly except the streaming video part. So is there any way to fix that issue? and Can I upgrade its android version?
