Would you recommend buying a Sony TV with integrated android TV or would you recommend buying a "dumb" TV and a nvidia shield?

What are the pros? What are the cons?

Is there any problems if I want to connect it (TV, shield or both) to a soundbar? What's the easiest way?

I mounted my Synology NAS on my shield tv and when I browse the share with Plex it does not see any subdirectories. Anyone have this issue?

Is the razer forge TV worth buying still? Considering on buying my first android tv box for netflix and kodi mostly

Just discovered this great TV and pvr app on the google store. Live channels support, dvr recording, epg reordering, fully working epg, multi tuner home run support, choose your storage location for recordings. Great interface.

I just got a Nexus Player, this device will cover all my streaming needs. I've also got a WD My Elements 1TB drive formatted to exfat that I have connected to my TV & that works fine.

However I would like to connect the HDD to my new Nexus Player with an OTG cable but will the Nexus Player be able to play my movies from my 1TB exfat HDD?

My plan was to do this & use MX Player to play my movies. It would be awesome to have all my streaming apps & HDD on one device.

Can anyone on this forum suggest me an Android Tv Box that allows me to have on the same device all my current subscriptions: Tv Tuner, youtube, Hulu, Netflix, Sling + android apps (CBS, HBO, ...) in HD.

I hope not to spend more than $100.

This is it, my family's big move from the last of plasma TVs to flatscreen smart TVs. As stated in the title, we subscribed to our ISP's IPTV service to see all the channels. They gave us a standard IPTV box we're currently using over HDMI. It automatically scans all the channels and gives us all hundred something channels with an option to watch past shows. Now this is the situation: two remotes are usually annoying in terms of channel switching vs turning the TV on and off, because you have to do it on two separate remotes. Now the question is, can something be done to watch our ISP's IPTV directly, without an additional box and consequently without a second remote? We got this TV today, so I haven't checked all the functions yet. Also, the box is rather sluggish.

After updating everything, I accessed the external 4TB USB HD in Plex with no problem. Then I tried to look at the drive with ES Explorer and it did not show up. After exiting ES, the drive was no longer visible to the Shield or the Plex. Any ideas what might have happened? Or how it can be corrected?

Anyone having luck casting Vue to any AndroidTV device? No issues with 1st gen Chromecast, but Nexus Player will connect "ready to cast", but screen just buffers on Live channels or on-demand until the connection drops.

Hoping to see if it's just my box and it's reset time, or if Vue isn't playing nice with ATV.

Why do these exist? I don't care that some random application has crashed in the background. They don't even make sense. Why is Netflix running and crashing in the background while I'm watching Twitch? Why is the USA Today app running and crashing? Why am I notified of this? I have to find the remote as they don't just fade away. It's completely unnecessary to show this and it's such a poor user experience.

I have a shield wired to my 1gb network and a GTX960 in my workstation. I pulled up Rocket League yesterday and holy crap the game played so much smoother than ever before. I read up on the HDR stuff but I don't have an HDR TV. I checked the quality settings and I have them locked at 1080p @ 60fps @ 30mbps (max). I can't remember if 60fps was a thing before or not.

Granted, this community is small. But could we get the word box to automatically require a mod to be visible? Similar to how apk is on /r/android?

It would take down the amount of posts but also the amount of explanations that this sub is for actual android TV.

Never modded on a sub, but I, perhaps wrongly, assume that it's a built in feature. And if not, so many subs are capable of doing something similar that if can't be the complicated to set up.

Is there a way to disable the alert to tell you some background app has crashed while you're playing video in a different one? It's a pretty big annoyance when you repeatedly get your video interrupted by notifications that some app you aren't using has crashed. The other night it was happening repeatedly with the cast receiver, and tonight Netflix has done it twice while watching a movie.

I am trying to finally completely cut the cord, but I am in an area where it is hard to pick up local channels via ota (mountains greatly affect the signal). I like the PS Vue channel selection, but I cannot cast them to the Shield (I am able to use the app however). It does work on my other Chromecast equipped televisions though. PS Vue doesn't include access to my local networks, however. Are there any other options to stream live network tv to our Shields?

I am only getting 4:2:2 I thought this TV supported 4:4:4. Also I don't get the ability to select high for dynamic range. I know a second Android TV device is redundant on an Android TV but Nvidia it's killing it with the updates and support.

I use Pluto.TV through Live Channels and noticed that many times, it's a youtube video being loaded. Anyone have any idea how I could go about making a channel?
