How do i update my shield tv to marshmellow?

I'm a proud owner of a new Sony XBR-43x830C. I St it up so that it turns on automatically around when my alarm turns on. I'm looking for an app that will auto launch a music app when the TV turns on or at a defined time. Any suggestions for such an app?

I'm having some issues with volume out of the shield TV, the volume is very low compared to a ps4 on the same tv. Both are connected to a samsung tv Ju7100 series and every time I change inputs to put the ps4 on, I have to lower the volume on the TV because it's so loud. Is there was an issue here, is there a way to fix this?

After figuring out which hdmi port is hdcp compliant my Netflix is up and running. The issue I am having is some shows (Bob's Burgers for example) have completely garbled/distorted 5.1 output. If it go into the show's Netflix menu and manually change it to Stereo it sounds ok. (My initial theory is that the show is a stereo audio source, and something is garbling it in the surround conversion). Kodi plays my local 5.1 content crystal clear.

My setup is as follows:

Shield TV >>> Denon avr-891 (7.1) >>> Samsung PN59d550 (speakers disabled)

Is the nvidia shield the best android tv/game system with android tv.

i was going to buy the 500gb version and 2 controllers.

I have a Samsung Smart TV and the Nvidia shield (redundant, I know) and through hdmi-cec, I can turn on/off the shield/TV with one another.

If my TV and shield is off and I press a button the nvidia shield remote, my TV turns on and switches to the right input. After this, the remote refuses to respond to any more button presses. I would have to pull the power cable out and plug it back in for the remote to work.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a better way to do this?

I'm currently searching for a new 55 inch TV priced below 1000€. The Sony ones are very appealing, design- and picture qualitywise. But every single one is rated badly because of its software, which is Android TV (e.g. Sony KD-55X8005C, Sony KDL55W805C, Sony KDL55W755C).

I know that LG and Samsung have quite good devices as well, but Sony looks quite appealing, as I said.

So, how bad is it really? Is the current state better than a few months ago when most of the ratings were given?

Edit: I just want to mention that all this Smart TV stuff is not needed as I'm searching for my parents. They won't use Smart TV, they just want a big, good looking TV with a nice picture quality. But getting this without Smart TV isn't possible anymore, so I have to deal with these problems.

Hi i was connected to my N band before the update and now it won't find my n band only the G and won't pick up any other network in the area it had a list of about 13 before. Anyone else have or had this problem? I went to the network setup guide also and did a rescan and it won't find any networks . Anyone any suggestions ? Thanks

Switching to an Nvidia shield from an "android box" at the end of the month. My question is - can the Nvidia shield run regular android apps, or do apps need to be specifically optimised? I have a tonne of children's books I read to the kids that actually work great on the TV on regular android and I'd hate to lose this capability.

How do you get your live news fix? Seems like any app I can find is simply clips -- not live news. Also, can't find a single fucking news app on Android (normal) that has live news AND chromecast support. For example, CNN. I can get it live on my 5" phone, but they can't be bothered to let me cast that shit to my TV.

So, /r/AndroidTV how do you get live news?
