HBO Go has been out on Android TV for 2 months now and while many other carriers allow you to activate, Comcast still does not. There's no technical reason why they can't do this so the only conclusion to draw is that they are pressuring HBO or Google to pay them to allow activation. That leaves Comcast customers in the dust for a service that is supposedly included with their HBO subscription. I watched them do this same bullshit with Roku, Samsung, and Playstation.
I'm not really sure there's much I can do except throw as much public guilt and shame their way as possible. I've decided that once a week I'm going to poke them on Twitter. Maybe if enough of us do this regularly it will add just enough ugly exposure for them to relent. Feel free to start posting passive aggressive tweets to @comcastcares. Some examples... 1 and 2
Starting to dish out Christmas gifts and got a few nexus players. Its horrible that this issue is not fixed yet. You could root and run a 5.1.1 ROM but there is only 1 i saw and its soon to be discontinued. Flashing the stock image will just Update overnight. Any timeline for when google will fix this ? Here is a picture of the bug i took on my monitor.
My Post from XDA :
Just wanted to let you know this may have the color bug. My monitor has the ability to have two sources on the screen at once. the Left half is my pc and the right is the nexus player. The same YouTube video is playing. There is a large difference in black levels on the nexus player. Same panel so there is no variation in screen technology. Hopefully google has a fix soon. Do you know of a way to remedy this ?

Hey, I was wondering if there is a way I could just put regular android on a Razer Forge TV. using an Android 5 or 6 image for a similar device.
Would something like the Android 6.0.1 system image for the ADT-1 work for the Razer Forge TV? I believe the ADT-1 has an arm processor as well, and was designed for Android TV. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/development/rom-pure-nexus-t3271236
Or is that just completely fucking ignorant of me to think?
I'm a little new at this. Thanks
I just recently discovered this amazing site! 24/7 Classic toonami. http://toonamiaftermath.com/
But wanting this to be on my TV instead of just my computer I asked the Dev if he had an android TV app and he linked me to This App.
It ties in to the Live channels app has 2 different time zone streams, 24/7 toonami! I definitely just found my background TV stream and wanted to share!!!
Yay, day 2 and a second issue with the Shield Android TV! My free remote (Christmas promo) arrived today, since pairing it the Shield will go back to the home screen intermittently. Whatever was playing can easily be restarted, may be 5min, may be 2 hours between incidents.
It appears it's as simple as the remote sending the home button command without any interaction. I proved this to myself by having only the remote paired (controller unpaired) moving my selection down and over a few columns on the launcher, coming back 20min later selection is now top left. The only single button that would produce this result is the home button.
Some searching revealed this thread: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/900059/shield-android-tv/shield-remote-bug/
It appears this person has an identical issue.
My Shield TV experience is definitely not going well so far. I keep hoping these glitches will be simple fixes and I can go on enjoying my new streamer.
I plan on also contacting Nvidia on this issue, in the mean time I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue.
Edit: Another thread on Geforce forums with same concerns
I cribbed this list from Android Police, and picked out the TV compatible games. Hope I got them all!
Also there's a discount code for 75% off on 1 movie rental.
Edit: Pacman link
Edit 2:
Thanks for the additions! I bought Star Wars Pinball on my phone, without realizing it would work on Android TV. I found another sale on Droid-Life
The 12 Days of SHIELDmas 12/24 - 1/4 (Some games are Shield Exclusive, I'm not sure what prices will be)
