NBA 2k?

I've been trying to get 2k15 working on the shield with no luck. I tried side loading what I think was the amazon app, but controls aren't picking it up. Has anybody had luck getting it to work on anything other than amazons hardware?

How do I sideload an OTA update to a Nexus Player?

Once I am in recovery, I have no idea how to enter the "apply update from usb" mode.

Normally you can hit vol up to get into this mode that lets you adb sideload.

I have my nexus player plugged in to my macbook via usb. (no OTG keyboard)

Is Nvidia Shield TV behind in production?

I'm interested in the Nvidia Shield. I'm in Canada. I'm sure when I looked it up months ago on Bestbuy.ca they had it, now I have no idea where to buy it from here. Amazon.ca doesn't seem to have it but .com does. The CDN dollar is so weak against the US Dollar right now so I'm not getting it from Amazon.com. No rush on me getting but I was wondering if anyone knows if Nvidia are behind in production. I want the 500 gb box.

Do you play games on your Android TV?

I got the Nexus Player last week. Games didn't figure in my purchase decision, but looks like there's decent selection of casual games for Android TV. I've tried Riptide GP2, Leo's Fortune so far, and they are fun for some casual time-pass.

Do you play any games on your Android TV? If so, which games?

Is InstaTV app good with 6.0?

It has really bad reviews, but I have the HDHomeRun Dual that the official HDHomeRun app doesn't support. The reviews complain about having to pay for codecs multiple times. I'm fine paying $9.99 once, but don't want to have to pay more than once.

Has anyone had a good experience with this app?

Watch the democratic debate on AndroidTV?

Does anyone know of a way to watch the democratic debate on an Android TV box? (I have a Nexus Player).

CNN will be streaming it live but there's no CNN app for Android TV that I'm aware of. Is YouTube streaming it too?

I know its probably an android os thing but i have to ask. Is there anyway to kill an app in the background once you leave it?

Heres the thing. I like android tv. But it works more like a phone than a set top box. In this case I just want my apps (plex, settings) to close after i leave them instead of remembering my last location and staying open in the background. I dont want to stop watching a movie in plex and then an hour later come back and be forced to hit the back button until i get to the beginning of the app. I dont want to be in settings leave and then when i come back wonder where the hell i am then have to again backtrack to the beginning. Just like roku (and really every other box) I want each time I open the app for it to be a fresh run.

I was wondering if I could just use a old phone app like task killer and side load it to automatically kill apps. Maybe this is just how android tv will always work, idk. (also if anyone has a fix for google apps playing video in the background and not closing that would be great too.

I have a Sony TV with Android TV, should I get a NVIDIA SHIELD?

Ok, this may seem like a stupid question and kinda yes, I admit that...

I have a brand new Sony TV with Android TV and I'm thinking of getting a NVIDIA SHIELD because of two main features:

  • PC games streaming
  • Powerful hardware to run Android TV where I can install Kodi and replace my custom built NAS/HTPC (and start using that exclusively as a NAS), the TV probably isn't powerful enough.

But then I'll be left with 2 Android TV systems and it might get confusing. Both will have Android apps like YouTube, NETFLIX and games too. The Sony TV is probably not powerful for Kodi.

What would you do? What would you recommend to minimize the confusion between the two systems?

Anyone got any experience with the One For All remotes and if they work with Nvidia Shield?

I have been wanting to buy a Logitech Harmony but I feel like they're a bit too expensive. So I read about the One For All remotes and thought they might work with the IR on Nvidia Shield. Anyone who tried this?

Am I missing something with recommendations or do they just suck?

I have two apps set to feed into recommendations, Plex and YouTube.

Am I missing something here? Because I get no Plex recommendations (okay, fair enough, most of the library is marked as watched) and the YouTube recommendations are generic ones as if you weren't logged in, so they're all pretty much junk too.

Is there no way to get YouTube to give tailored recommendations on the home screen?

After Two Days, Still Trying to Sort Out Where HDHomerun Fits In

Can't wait to make this upgrade, but the options are quite confusing.

I'm currently using a Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV in my Home Theater setup and am getting disgusted with the cable (cloud based) DVR (and the outrageous prices). I don't have a 4K tv and am not planning on getting one soon. My cable modem and router (TP Link Archer C7) are in the adjacent room and must stay there.

I want to watch live the occasional news broadcast and sports on the local networks (no OTA option for me here). Most tv I watch is recorded on the DVR. All channels are digital and can't be watched using a digital tv (used to be able to watch the networks in HD on my kitchen tv without a cable box - no longer).

It looks like the Hulu subscription would replace most of the DVR functions, except for shows we watch on HBO and Showtime (which both have streaming options now without needing to subscribe to the cable tv version).

I would like a DVR to record sports and pause and rewind live tv, so I can get away with basic tv from the cable company. (I would like the occasional golf channel or epsn - is there a streaming option for this?)

AndroidTV would give me Hulu, and HDHomerun Prime would be able to replace my cable box with a cable card, and HDHomerun DVR would add DVR capabilities, but that's where this gets confusing.

Is there a diagram that shows a typical setup?

Does HDHomerun Prime and DVR go in the room with the router?

Does HDHomerun DVR pause live tv?

What is needed on the tv side to receive the signal?

Would my 5Ghz wifi be sufficient on my local network?

Would the NVIDIA Shield or NVIDIA Shield Pro be better for my needs?

Looking forward to getting rid of this awful cable dvr and all those cable boxes.
