So I probably updated my ccwgtv around 2 weeks ago but it was filled bugs like remote wouldn't respond lag etc but a simple restart seemed to fix the issue but now it doesn't wasn't to seem to connect to my wifi it was working as normal for 2 weeks and worked in the morning as I'm writing this but midday it just wouldn't connect with errors such as Wi-Fi password incorrect even though it is correct I've done all the troubleshooting from restarting plugging and unplugging as well as turning off and on the router but it seems to connect to my hotspot fine but even then there were disconnects happening. so I decided to reset the device which I though would fix but it still won't connect and had to finish the setup with my hotspot any ideas as to what may be the problem. Wi-Fi works fine on other devices. Also wanted to point out that I’ve owned the device for almost a year on the same Wi-Fi and had no issues at all just after the update it seems to have not been working

Long story short my CCwGTV updated itself to A12 and now after a reboot, the apps that are installed on the external usb drive are not visible on the Home Screen. It takes about 2-3 minutes for the usb drive to reconnect automatically and then I have to force stop the google tv launcher, so the apps to reappear again, but not in the same places as before. I tried to resolve the problem by moving the apps to internal storage after that reformatting the usb drive and moving the apps back, but the issue is still here. I tried another usb drive and sd card as well, factory reseting the device didn't help either. Initially after the update the device was basically trash - laggy and unresponsive, now after the reset it's a bit better, but this thing with the reconnecting of the external storage is really frustrating me. On Android 10, the usb was reconnected during the boot sequence and all apps were visible immediately and they were on the correct place on the Home Screen. I am open to suggestions, on potential ways for fixing this.

I'm currently using TVBro but I'm not very happy with it. The adblocker leaves a lot to desire, streaming crashes quite often, audio gets muffled, etc.

I tried sideloading some Android browsers (e.g., Brave, Firefox, Chrome) but they don't support input through the TV remote and I can't really interact with the UI without mouse/keyboard.

Firefox for Android TV doesn't have adblocking/extensions.

I found native Android TV browsers like Puffin to be rather trash, or don't really block ads.

I have a 2017 65" Sony Android TV which is somehow getting slower with the most recent updates. I was wondering if I would get better performance by bypassing the original OS and using a chromecast stick instead. What kind of gain should I get from it?

Hi, my parents have a Toshiba Android TV I've been downloading things for them an putting it on a memory stick, unfortunately the default media player app doesn't remember where they stopped watching meaning they have to FF to get back to where they were.

Is there any app you would recommend?

I tried VLC but it's not working even though there appeared to be a resume playback option which I selected.

There are no audio output options that has optical in it. Just auto, dolby digital, pcm, passthrough, dolby Digital plus

I'm thinking of buying a HMDI to Type-C cable to watch Blu-ray movies on my tv (my tv doesn't support exFAT format and i have a very slow internet so I can't cast my phone to the tv so i have to download the movie on my phone) so my question will the tv play the movie on 4k or 1080p

Hi have a Mygica DVB-T2 key and I'd like to use it with my Xiaomi Box. The channels scan works but than I need to use the "Live Channels" app to watch them. However, I don't like it as I cannot sort channels.

Is there any alternative app/plugin I can use?

So whenever I try and watch a movie on my TCL C725 TV the brightness keeps lowering all the time on it’s own and then goes back up again. I have tried adjusting everything in settings and nothing works!

Has anyone ever had an issue like that and how did you fix it?

I managed to install android tv X86 on a HP T620 thin client using an iso from Xerife Tech. Videos do not play either in Youtube app or Smart Next Tube. Also tried the ZDF app and I get an error : "video is not available in the requested format".

How to troubleshoot this ?

I have two of the 4k google tvs, the oval white ones. been using them for a year now with great results. I run kodi on them to play my movie files over wifi. recently my higher bitrate files have started stuttering on one of them. I factory reset it, issue remained. I got my other google tv dongle, worked fine. I did an update on it and now it has the same problem. the video plays but every half second there is a half second pause. I have recreated this with vlc. is there any way to roll back the update? ive turned on developer options but I cant find it. all I can think to do is factory reset it again, block it from the internet to prevent it from getting an update, but there goes any assistant integration and voice control. any ideas?

Hi Everyone, I am very keen to use a vpn on my Android 11 TV box but am finding that the VPN's I have tried so far reduce my internet speeds to such an extent that I am no longer able to stream. I am on a 50mbps NBN connection without VPN and with VPN turned on, my speeds are around 8mpbs. The same vpn servers on my laptop and phone only reduce the speeds by about 5mbps (so I get 45mbps) so this tells me that the problem sits with the TV box. It is a new H96Max box that I am using. I have done an extensive Reddit search and most people suggest that the low VPN speeds are due to the limited CPU of my TV Box? Has anyone had any joy with installing a less 'heavy' VPN server or app on a similar TV Box, one that doesn't reduce the speed so much? So far I have tried Cyberghost and Express on all their available protocols (incl. Wireguard etc) and no joy. TIA!

Hello everyone! I have a TCL C725 TV and I wonder, where can I find the latest firmware to update my TV via USB and not via the TV Settings.

I saw some forums that indicated that if you go to update TV firmware from Settings it will always show you have the latest version even if that is not the case.

I don't want my son watching YouTube (he keeps redownloading it) on Chromecast with Google TV. Is there any way to limit what apps can be downloaded or used (with a pw or pin, perhaps) without having to create a new account for him? I can't find the answer online. Thanks.

I have one xiaomi mibox 4k with only two apps installed.

I use the box ocassionally. So far, I have had no problems.

Today (after one month of not using it) I updated these two apps and I started to experience big problems with picture quality while streaming on the apps and on youtube.

I cannot get 4k picture quality.

I installed three or four different appliacations to test my internet connection. And it turns out that the mibox has very low download speeds (1Mbps-15Mbps). This explains my problems with terrible picture quality.

However, I cannot find the solution to my problem.

This is what I have done so far:

1. I tested my fibre-optic internet speed on my notebook and on my tablet (android). It works excellent. Downloads from 150 Mbps to 300Mbps. (both wifi and ethernet)
2. I connected the Mibox with the router wired via USB ethernet adapter - no effect.
3. I tested the Mibox on WiFi - the same problem.
4. I have the latest firmaware (android 9) installed on my Mibox.

Why all of a sudden - I have been expriencing this problem?

Is there any remedy?

I will be very grateful for any help.

I have a large collection of Bluray, DVDs ripped and stored on my android device in folders, is there an app that can scan the SD card and fetch movies' data like ratings and artwork?

I'm not talking about streaming movies, I need something to do the same by automatically fetching the data from the internet and displaying it later, kinda like what plex server does but to local android storage for offline use

Kodi also does it but in a more advanced way, you have to mark the folders and change their type to movie, TV shows, and choose an information provider. however, this might gets the app freezes

so your safest bet is the Nova video player
