Sony Bravia KD-43XF7596 updated to 8.0.0 - no sound except system sounds

UPDATE: My PS4 controller was plugged to the TV, which caused this problem...

The title is self-explanatory I updated to Oreo, because why not right? Now I am not able to get any sounds from bloody TV while using Chromecast, Netflix, Youtube, ...

I already tried:*Reset the TV via About*Reset the TV by unplugging*Reset the TV to Factory Settings*Change every option possible in sounds

Somebody can help me, please? Cheers!

TBH I am starting to losing it. Sometimes I telling myself that buying Android TV was the worst thing I could have done.

MiBox S users, if your wifi speeds are slow (evident in 1080p IPTV streams), try USB ethernet.

I bought a MiBox S box some months back. I don't know why this issue cropped up later on and not from day 1 (I've tried investigating a lot!) but I kept reading here and there that it's recommended to use a wired connection, especially for IPTV. No amount of wifi router tweaking helped (the router is barely 12 inches away from the box, and there's no obstruction in between).

Netflix would work fine. So would Youtube. IPTV 576p streams (and less) would work fine. 720p or above wouldn't. IPTV + VPN would tend to work fine (but VPNs slow down the channel switching). And file transfer over wifi/ftp was slow (I use ES File Explorer to set up an FTP server - not the best solution, but it is the only one I can get working).

For sometime, I was using a VPN for my IPTV channels. 720p streams would work without a hitch (with IPTV, and jank without), and 1080 would (sometimes) work buffer-free with a VPN (I was using OpenVPN for Android). I didn't understand the science. I also read that the wifi chip interferes with the bluetooth, and lo and behold! When I connected my bluetooth headphones with the box, not only was bluetooth stuttering but wifi slowed down significantly.

Why these issues cropped up a few months AFTER the purchase, beats me. Resetting the box didn't help. And the distance between the router and the box is less than 12 inches, no wall in between.

After holding off for long, I then decided to buy a ethernet/USB hub. A generic brand. And now, without using a VPN, it's streaming fine (1080p included), without any buffering. I can finally enjoy watching the TV again, without VPN. I don't have a 4K TV to test 4K content.

I would suggest other MiBox users to buy a ethernet/USB hub to get a constant, fast transmission rate if you're having wifi problems. It worked for me, and it will most likely work for you too. And it turns out Netflix and Youtube work fine because they work in short bursts (HLS streaming) and the bitrate is good enough for it to pass through the box's internal wifi chip (it's a theory). But what I now have to test is the bluetooth connectivity + wired connection and see if it still stutters (no biggie if it does, but it's a nice thing to have especially at night).

Hope this helps.

Edit: it's been suggested that 2.4Ghz routers may have this problem, and 5Ghz modes will work fine. I don't have a router that supports 5Ghz.

MIBOX 3 autoframe wonder ?

Hi, there:

My mibox is connected old philips TV 42pfl5403 at my guest room, I
set 1080P 50hz in display mode and turn off auto switch to recommended resolution from TV. after last update from Xiao Mi. I set Kodi 18.1 whitelist from 23.98hz to 50hz. When I play movie of 23.98hz, the screen flash blue, then show picture, but the judder once in the while. So I have to cancel the 23.98hz from whitelist, the movie play at 50hz without blue flash and judder. May I know what is going on there, is this my old Tv couldn't support the 23.98hz or I am wrong at setting of Mibox.

Thx in advance!

Watch tBS and watch TNT apps not showing in Google play search results

Just got a new Sony Smart TV! Downloaded a few apps to get myself setup, but can't find either the Watch TBS or Watch TNT apps.

When I search for them in the Google Play store, it gives me about 50 apps as a search result, but neither are the actual apps I'm looking for. Some of the top results are NCAA March Maddness, ABC, and Sling TV.

I see both in the app store on my phone, just not the TV. Any ideas to where they went/how to get them?

Do any Android streaming boxes have HDMI input? As in plugging my PS4 into my Android box and choosing which input to use through software or remote.

For various reasons, I've been a little unsatisfied with my PS4 as a media device. It's current upside is that my games and (most) of my media are in one place. I've been thinking an HDMI switcher would be really lovely, as I could have my PS4 and Switch hooked up to it. It would be extra amazing if I could get this HDMI switch in the form of a media box that does way more than my PS4! Unfortunately, I can't really find any details on this feature, any ideas?

Mi Box 3 vs Mi Box S

I had a Mi Box 3 for some time now and was never abled to watch netflix because of the HDCP issue.

Now my Mi Box 3 broke down and I get a Mi Box S in return and was wondering if this version fixes the problem.

I had hopes because Linus said in his Mi Box S video ''netflix actually works'' even though he was referring to off brand AndroidTV boxes that don't work with netflix.

Hope you can answer this question for me :)

PSA to Mibox users posting at /r/MiBox

So I received a msg today saying I was banned from there, I replied the mod and asked why since it's been some days I don't post there, I got a singleworded response: "shieldfag"

At first I tought I said "shieldfag" over there and I was being banned for hatespeach, but after a quick search in my history... it seems the moderation is acusing me of being a shield fag.

So be cautious talking about the Mibox's faults over there, as apparently the Mods are retarded and think if you're saying something negative about the product you're probably a shieldfag (even tho I don't own a shield, it's not available in my country and I even never said the word "shield" in that sub). Go figure.

Mi Box S or Google Chromecast Ultra?

I've read that mi box can't handle games like real racing 3 or emulators like ppsspp. Mi box s costs $65 including shipping from AliExpress while Chromecast ultra costs $45. I currently own a Chromecast ultra. Since screen mirroring these games on Chromecast work just fine except battery drain, I'm thinking the mi box s is not worth it? The Nvidia shield costs $260 ($80 shipping) from Amazon. Any advice please?

Xiaomi Mi Box S - Any alternative Compatible Remote?

Hello!

Since Xiaomi Mi Box S does not have an IR - does any one know any fully compatible 3rd party remote control with number pads that will work with the Xiaomi Mi Box S? I don't even know what remote control protocol its using right now with the default remote -- is it RF, bluetooth?

I don't really mind if there are no dedicated google voice or live channels button since I'll be using the remote with the HDHomerun App + number pad to mimic a regular tv (wife and grandma/granda requirements! lol)

I have a Samsung Frame TV, and I tried to use a regular samsung remote control (with numberpad) with anynet+ HDMI-CEC which kind of works. The problem is when using the HDHomerun App, you can type the number but they Android keyboard shows up -- and I hit the "enter key" to actually change the channel. I have to use the Xiami MiBox S remote to hit the enter/return key.

I also have FLIRC and tried it but its acting weird too with HDMI-CEC -- its like overlapping with the TV. I'm still figure this part out but I was just thinking maybe there are ready-made remote control that doesn't let me go to these hoops.

Hello everyone,

I just bought a Hisense H9EPlus 55" TV (https://www.hisense-usa.com/electronics/tv/55h9e-plus). And I was super excited about getting my Youtube TV and start streaming sports.

After installing the app every time I watch live TV, I can see the image stuttering making the experience pretty unbearable.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you!!

Xiaomi Mi Box S SDR to HDR

Question, has anyone used the SDR to HDR mode in display settings extensively? I had a couple questions about it.

-Will this harm the TV to leave on all the time? (since there is probably an increase in brightness and light output leading to early LED backlight burnout?)

-How does this affect true HDR signals? When a true HDR signal is sent does it override it using some upconverted HDR algorithm, or does it default back to true HDR from the signal?
