[Mi Box S] Timer before sleeping

Is there any option or Android app to set a timer so that the box will automatically sleep in 20min for example.

Looking for mkv player for TV to replace WD Live TV box

My WD Live TV box is starting to give up the ghost. It's freezing mid movie more and more, and it's time to start looking for a replacement.

I don't use any of the other features of the WD other then to watch movies & tv shows in the mkv format.

A quick search, and i found out that WD no longer makes the media players, and the few that are available are overpriced.

I have looked at a few mkv players online, and some kodi boxes. What is the easiest straight forward mkv player that has the option to update to firmware for any new or updated video/audio format coming in the future.

Skystream 3 looked good too me, but it doesn't have the best reviews here on reddit.

Nvidia shield is another option.

I have a Fire TV cube, and use it for Netflix, Hulu, or whatever premium service i'm subscribed to to at the moment.

I have a playstation 3 & XBOX 360, but i never use them, so i will most likely just sell them.

I liked the simplicity of the WD Live TV box.

Looking for recommendations, pros/cons on a media player for my TV. I'd like something that has the option to also connect to older TV's via AV port.

Trying to have MLB.tv appear on home screen

Trying to figure out a way to pin the mlb.tv app to my home screen. Everytime I want to open it, I have to go into play store > my apps > mlb and then hit open. Am I missing something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated in solving this issue.

My remote for my Mi box s broke recently and I can't return it. I was wondering if there was any way I would be able to turn on the mi box without the remote. I can't connect it to an app on my phone because to do that the box would need to be in. Thanks

I just bought a new tv box to replace my old WD one. After 7 years it was crashing a little too much. I basically only use the thing for Netflix. Is there a way to use the HIMEDIA Q1 without logging into my Google account? That company is too nosy for my liking.

G20 Remote is great! (After one modification)

I bought the G20 remote from Amazon based on this post.

At first it was working only when VERY close to my Nvidia Shield, like 4 feet. However, I had a small extender USB cable and plugged the dongle into that and the remote is working flawlessly now.

Pros:

  • Has a learnable IR power button.
  • No weird sleep issues like my normal Shield remote.
  • More responsive than OG remote.

Cons:

  • If using the dongle you can't learn anything but the power IR.
  • Mic isn't quite as good as the OG one.

Being able to turn on my sound bar with one remote has been a game changer for my clutter. I just turned up the sound bar and am using the Shield volume control.

Use 3rd party bluetooth remote?

Hey everybody.

I own a Philips 65OLED873, the remote is very stylish but the IR is terrible and half the times it doesn't register the key press.

I was wondering if I bought a 3rd party bluetooth remote, could I pair it to my TV and use it to also turn it on and off?

Does anyone have any experience with other brands maybe?

New Twitch.tv app can make your home screen frozen.

I got new Twitch.tv update about a few weeks ago, version 2.3.0. It looks good and little lag, but every time I turn on my TV again after using Twitch.tv app before (I even closed it before turn off) it froze at my home screen background, I'm pretty sure I can open other app but it only changes the background color, no image, button, information show up.

update: i was sent a ticket to twitch.tv support, no response yet.

This is the one i bought and The Mi Box turns on and gets to the Android screen and then it powers off and restarts in the Android screen but never goes beyond that.

Does anyone know how to get USTVHUB apk working on android tv? ugh.

Though i use TPKv3 for paid IPTV, my favorite free live apk is USTVHUB from here because im in usa, and it has the channels i like.

Problem is, no matter which rotator or set orientation app i use, this app will NOT work on my shield OR Sony Android tv!

It only works on phone.

I refuse to cast, i just dont like casting, and this app basically forces you to.

Pausing streams/kodi on incoming call/broadcast.

Hi wondering if anyone can help. I have a mii box and Google home. I have managed to set up Yatse so kodi pauses on incoming call. Is there anything similar for when Google home receives a broadcast. I know I can voice control Mii via home to pause casts but not kodi, so I wonder if this is a limitation or is there a workaround. So in summary looking to do 4 things.

Pause kodi on incoming call - done. Pause kodi on incoming broadcast. Pause cast on incoming call. Pause cast on incoming broadcast.

Bonus - pause kodi via voice. - done

How to roll back to an older version of AndroidTV?

I have a TCL U49P6046. Ever since it updated to Android 8 it lost some of the functionality I used - the Play Store apps (VLC, MXPlayer) lost access to NTFS formatted USB drives and the Instant-On function does not seem to work anymore. If I could roll back the TV to the last Android 7 build (the factory settings would probably work too) I think I would get the features back.

The issue with that is that I don't know how to prevent the TV from updating automatically - nothing in the settings seems to be able to do that. Flashing an older version might work but I don't know if that would break Netflix (which I also don't want to lose).
