Once in a while, my Shield won't wake with my TV. I have a my Harmony remote but I'm sure that's not the problem. When it doesn't wake with TV, even it's original remote doesn't work. Anyone run into this? This is probably the most aggravating thing. Only fix is it unplug the power and plug it back in.

Edit: 3rob3 mentioned a CEC bug with volume controls. Since I have a harmony remote, I disabled all CEC options including power and volume. I'll update everyone if this works. Might take a while though since it happens once a week or so.

When do you think we will see the Mi Box S sitting on walmart shelves? I was at my walmart today and they have the original mi box on the clearance aisle. I just hate to spend 49 when I can wait and drop the 59..

I'm looking to get a Shield TV. I'm not going to use it for any gaming, and looking for the cheapest one I can find, perhaps used. Where is the best place to get the cheapest one?

I'm looking for advice on which Android Box to buy? NVidia Shield is always recommended but isn't it outdated by now?

It should be a powerful device, capable of running plex, capable of streaming 4K video, and I will probably connect it to 4 TVs in total (although likely only 2 will be in use at a time)

Anyone else experiencing this? I've downgraded the app, rebooted, cleared data + cache and I still can't get YouTube to play anything, just sits there loading the video. Won't work via casting dogher, but I can cast to my Android TV no problem

Only way i can get rid of the stuttering is by restarting the Mibox.

Hi, Reddit I'm just looking for some recommendations on what box to buy my Mum for Xmas. She currently as a Fire TV Stick 1st gen which is now running slow.

Any guide to flashing 2179 on the mi box3? Just got my mibox a few days back. It is on 6.0.1 but has so many bugs. Wifi sometimes doesn't transfer any data even though it says that it's connected. Heard people saying 2179 is a great build. So a guide and links to this process would be appreciated.

I cannot access the apps button on the homescreen to view what I've installed. I'm able to do so via settings/apps. I tried a factory reset. What can I do?

About a year ago I bought a 55" Philips Android TV and 2 weeks ago I had to get another TV, so I decided to go with a non android TV plus the Shield, which turned out to be the right choice.

But the thing is that only now I realise how bad the Android TV on the Phillips TV performs, is slow, it freezes, it has this weird issue that the it runs out of space when I connect to it a 2tb HDD with lots of videos (I'm pretty sure it's because it saves screencaps from each video but then there's no way to delete them), also some apps won't work.

I've tried some things to make it run better like limit the number of processes, disable drawing but it's still bad, or at least nowhere near the Shield.

I don't see at lot of threads about actual Android TVs in this sub so I wanted to ask if anyone has some tips or someway to make it run at an acceptable level.

After using the Shield I find it very hard to use the Phillips TV, but also I don't want to buy another Shield for it, or even a Mi Box, since it's not really about the money but the redundacy of having the same system in two devices in the same screen, and also an additional remote.

Any thoughts? is there a way to root an Android TV TV?

I am looking for a decent video calling app that is compatible with AndroidTV, Android phone and possibly computer. I know that skype for androidtv is no longer a thing (unfortunately) so i am looking for good alternatives.

I use VLC to watch files with HDR content, but have never checked to see if the application was HDR compliant, and I can't seem to find any information on it. I know the desktop version is HDR, but is the Android version? Should I be using my media center PC instead of VLC through Android on the TV?

As the thread title says: is this possible? I would like to be able to navigate to the hard drive that is attached to my Mi Box, from my Win10 PC. I am not the most technically inclined but is this even possible? In other words I would like to be able to copy movies and series files across the network onto this hard drive. 

The reason is that I have now plugged my external drive directly into the box and am using kodi  in order to not leave my pc on all day everyday anymore But I would like to be able to access the drive from my machine in order to save downloads etc to it.

The Mi Box is attached to the network via ethernet.

Any advise is appreciated.
