I'm interested in a low-medium priced Android TV to replace my aging Nexus Player. I don't need ethernet. My main concern is receiving ongoing updates. Which of these two devices is more likely to get Android P, Q?

Just got this running but I can't seem to skip through channels. I have to go back out to the guide.

Is there any way to do this?

I already have a TCL L55P1US 55 inch 4K smart TV with Android 5.0 (2 years old)

BUT -

1. Not official Android TV
2. No Widevine L1
3. Therefore Prime video doesn't play at all and netflix caps off at 480p on a 4k display
4. Out of the blue, suddenly audio video delays occur which can be fixed only by a hard restart
5. It struggles to process even images on slideshow
6. TV doesn't support VP9 so can't play 4K videos on YouTube

So out of frustration, I feel like buying a firetv stick or some android box for best experience (but also broke to buy something like shield)

I want primarily to be able to watch Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube on 4K.

Which one should I go for?

I just bought a new Mi LED TV 4A PRO (49). The MI remote has smart Google Voice Assistant which only worked for 1 day. It does not work anymore. It does not hear me, seems like microphone issue but not sure though. Any solution people?

Hi, I just received my Mi Box3. I plugged it into the tv and turned it on. Did all the setup, saw few apps getting updated on their own. This box is still on 6.0.1 and when I check for system updates there are none. Am I missing something?

I am having an issue where when I start up gamestream on my shield tv the computer resolution keeps going to 720P. I am on ethernet and have set it to 1080p 60 under game stream settings(my shield is connected to a 1080p projector) for my PC that is attached to my account. I think the problem is on my PC I have a 2560x1440 display at 144HZ and then it keeps pushing my display into 720P every time I launch a game from game stream. I tried setting my computer resolution to 1920x1080 60HZ with no luck either. To make matters more complicated I have two monitors at the same resolution but at different timings connected to the PC. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Figured it out! If you have any VM software installed it messes up networking and places you in the roaming profile (which is separate from wireless or Ethernet). If you disable the virtual network adapters on your PC everything works as normal. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Karma is a bitch. So... I'm a developer and I sometimes make fun of people for being stupid and installing crap that infects their Windows machines (and I've never had a virus or malware before on PC,) so you'd think I'd know better, but I let my guard down a bit and installed an out-of-Google-Store app on my Nvidia Shield, and now it opens a Google Play store app link for an Anti-virus app every 30 minutes or so. (Ironic, isn't it?) The offending app has been deleted, but of course it does not remove the 30-minute-apart interruptions. And who knows what other business the ware is working in the background? (BitCoin Mining? DDoS attacks?)

Is there any kind of task killer app someone might recommend that I could use to view running processes? Or maybe some sort of method to view startup processes and disable them? The safest bet would probably be to do a System Reset, but there's one complication with that...

I boot off an external 4TB drive, and that drive contains my 1TB Plex media. I did this because some apps are not written to utilize external storage. On top of this, my computer does not recognize the Shield's file system on the drive, so I can't (easily) hook the drive straight to my computer to backup files. This means I have to move files over my network to back them up, run the system reset, and then move them back, which takes days. Does anyone know a way I can reset my Shield without loosing my media library?

So I've finally managed to install chrome on the Mi Box, however I'm having trouble actually navigating the browser. Other than using a wireless mouse/keyboard, is there any other way to control it? The remote which comes with it won't do since there is no pointer and none of the mobile apps I have tried have worked. Would appreciate any help!

I just set up a mibox for the first time. I heard there was an update to Oreo but when I check system it says my system is up to date. Is there any other way to get the update? (installing off a flash drive or something maybe?)

As the title goes, I recently got a new Mi TV LED Pro 55' and hooked up my PS4 Pro to it. I noticed that the output resolution was 1920X1080@60Hz. When I tried to switch the resolution to 4K from the console, the options were greyed out. No luck on trying the Android TV settings either, there are very few of them in fact.

My output was HDCP 1.4 on my console, and I read that 4K video needs HDCP 2.2. Thing is, I can't find any settings to change this. Any suggestions?

I have a LG OLED TV with built in apps like Netflix, when I go through the app all the menus and everything are super sharp and in 4K. Same on my Apple TV.

On my new Shield that I absolutely adore with the exception of this, the Netflix videos are all 4K and gorgeous, but the menus themselves are like 1080p or something and look super blurry and washed out compared to the built in apps on my TV?

Is this a bug in the app or do I need to change a setting or something? To be clear other apps are fine, the videos are beautiful, it's just the menus look a lot worse than my built in TV apps or the Apple TV Netflix app.

I am looking for a good mid-level android box for my van.

I want browsing to be fast and the os stable.

I have a shield in my home and it works great. Just want something a

I bought Mibox 3, recently im facing a lot of crashes, during playing netflix screen freezes and there is no sound (or sound is glitched like computer crashing).

Crash time is random, somethimes device survives 12h sometimes it fails after 10 minutes.

Unfortunately this mibox is updated to recent oreo.

Any ideas how to fix problems ? or should I return this device?
