I have both the Mibox and Nvidia Shield TV with the upgraded Oreo. Definitely don't like the current homescreen. Is there anyway to get back the old homescreen (launcher)?

Mibox Oreo Supporters Thread

Man I'm getting sick of seeing all these issues and complaints here on reddit. So I though we could have a place where everyone can put their positive reviews. People are never happy. My good running mibox's might start crying from all these insults.

Subscriptions and Recommended are available as YouTube channels for the home screen

I updated the app to 2.03.04 a couple of days ago and now the available channels are subs, recommendations and trending. The other channels are gone

The sub channel is broken though. It shows only videos from one sub and they're all over a year old

Downgrading to last official build before official Oreo update on Mi Box?

With al these issues with the new update, I am on my wits end and thinking of just downgrading to the latest Marshmallow OS before this update.

I am fairly new to Android TV and Mi Box. So does anyone have a step by step tutorial on how to do this safely? What was the latest official build before the Oreo update? Where can I download it for my Mi Box? Thanks a bunch.

4K torrent «streaming» Mi Box Elementum

Anyone been able to «stream» 15 GB 4k torrents with Elementum on Kodi with Mi Box on Oreo? Buffer size is set to 150 MB, and RAM is used instead of download to internal drive.

Lags here. I got it to work before the update to Oreo.

Anyone with a suggestion? Wonderful to watch high quality movies without the hassle of first downloading and transferring them to external drive.

Audio MiBox - Orea

Audio in MiBox3 Oreo update completely sux. Make the box damn near unusable. It consistently cuts out no matter what video/app I'm using. Netflix, Amazon Prime, PP, IPTV Extreme, you name it audio cuts in and out. It doesn't matter what sound options I choose, it still cuts in and out. They need to fix this ASAP! The box was better than the FS and now it's that much worse!

MI Box Oreo + Google Assistant and problem with Spotify music

Hi.

With Oreo update comes support for Google Assistant.
Generally it is working fine but I have problem with launching music from Spotify.
I have
Spotify App installed and Spotify account is linked with Google Assistant.

When I ask Google Assistant "play XYZ on spotify" - it displays and speaks confirmation like "ok, playing XYZ on spotify" ...

... but nothing happens.

Anyone have similar problem? Maybe is there some known solution for this?

Mibox YouTube Smart TV (YouTube app) plays 4K 60fps HDR out of box

Yummy!

My mibox is still within returning window. Looks like I will keep it just for this feature alone. Apple TV 4K or shield can't do this.

Kodi HDR also switch correctly now.

Edit: official YouTube app is getting worse. No 4K or HDR, some video even loses 1080p

Mi Box Oreo + Plex + DTS = Transcode

tl;dr

Plex on Mi Box lose DTS support/DirectPlay on DTS files after Oreo update

As most of you guys know, Mi Box does support DTS.

But playing DTS thru Plex has been a trouble for a long time coz it makes Plex Server (PMS) to transcode for every single time Mi Box need to plays movie with DTS.

But somehow this issue has been fixed for a while. IDK when it was resolved exactly... at least for the past 3 months, it works perfectly with DTS movies.

Until the Oreo update came, after the update all movie with DTS have to, again, be transcoded by PMS.

If you use not so powerful server, like NAS, (so you gonna need DirectPlay to works) and have a lot movies with DTS audio, then I suggest to stays on Mash-mellow, at least for now.

Here is an example of this issue

[MiBox] Netflix audio still cutting out on Oreo

Anybody still experiencing random very short audio cuts on MiBox while watching Netflix? I've had it also on MM, and it seems they haven't fixed it here.

FYI, I have Mibox connected to DD+ compatible receiver.

[Mi Box] [Oreo] Ok, so how do I actually use the built in live channels DVR?

So like many others here I have the Mi Box on Official Oreo.

One of the things I've been excited about with the update is the built in DVR functionality with live channels using my HDHR Connect.

First thing I needed to do was make sure that I'm using google's own implementation for the "Network Tuner" and not watching the actual HDHR app through live channels as this doesn't give you an option that says "DVR Recordable".

Next, I dug out an old 500gb USB HDD and formatted it directly from the Mi Box. The drive shows in "storage and reset" https://i.imgur.com/b5zSLFQ.jpg

In the guide I see "DVR recordable" https://i.imgur.com/nt6P4dl.jpg

When I try to click record, I get an error message that there is no external drive. (bonus awesome type-o) https://i.imgur.com/q6MCnOk.jpg

I have also turned on the "storage" permission for the live channels app, which was off by default, but this doesn't seem to do anything.

Am I missing something?

TV Box with paid service?

My friend had an android TV box and all his channels were entirely HD. He told me he paid $10 a month for this service. I have a tv box already but most of my channels are pretty poor quality. Is it pretty easy to get most channels in HD through a service like that? If so are there any big names that do this ?

Thanks

Oreo + Leanback Launcher?

Hi, is it possible to upgrade MiBox to Oreo to enjoy latest security patches and keep old Leanback Launcher at home screen?

Right now I've disabled all recommendations from apps except from Kodi, because they are useless to me and I think in my situation old launcher is more useful.

Is it possible to have Oreo and Leanback Launcher together?
