"The Mibox is available"

Or something like that, depending on the TV, when you plug a device. I'm getting this message every 10 minutes or so after updating to Oreo, even though the Mibox is off. Annoying.

CSC is off and I'm not touching any remote control

EDIT:who are the fucking assholes that downvote threads of people reporting issues?!

Mi Box - YouTube and Play Store hidden after Oreo update

I just updated my Mi Box and now I can't find the YouTube and Play Store apps anywhere. They're not in the apps drawer nor Sideload launcher. Both of them are still shown under the System apps menu in Settings. The Games, Movies, and Music apps are still can be seen.

I tried searching "YouTube" using assistant, it brought up some YouTube videos but they can't be opened.

Anyone having the same issue?

Edit: I just fixed it by opening the apps from Settings. After being opened once both apps have appeared again.

So, with Oreo, Google can push for updates more frequently and without Xiaomi's approval?

Something to do with different partitions. Is that right?

Mibox Oreo: Plex and TrueHD failing

Has anyone else got issues playing TrueHD in Plex with the new Oreo update?

All seems to work fine but when I try play a movie with trueHD connected only through the TV (so it has to transcode) I get a transcoder failed error. All other devices seem to work fine doing the same thing.

Shield TV With Oreo Forces New Youtube App

The old trick to uninstall Youtube no longer works to get the old app back.

Trying to force install youtube version 1.3.11 .apk doesn't work, it installs then says "It didn't work" or something. Maybe a version mismatch type error? You can't uninstall the new Youtube app, only disable it.

I'm guessing I'm boned?

Before someone asks, I don't like the cobalt web browser youtube, the native older version listed all my subs by how often I watch them and allowed voice search.

Link, RF, and DTS%. What do these audio settings do on the Mi Box?

Anyone have the breakdown on what these settings do? Especially the DTS percentage setting? I set it at 10% and then at 90% and I can't hear any difference.

Edit: oops I mean "Line" not link.

Hello Guys! Im a owner of a Philips 55pus6551. I have always used my tv conected via WiFi, but its was a little unstable, always chaging from 70mgs to 95mgs of download.

I have decided to pass a Cat6 Cable, so i could have a stable 100Mgs like i have on my PC. But testing on the TV, with RJ45 i can only Get 54 to 56mgs of download.

Any clues on whats wrong? Is the network card really that bad on this model?

Mi Box Oreo: Air Mouse remote Back button no longer working

The back button on my MX3-M USB air mouse remote (which appears to function as right click) no longer works in Oreo.

Turning off the mouse on the air mouse doesn't resolve the issue. The button does actually work as right click in certain limit places but no longer functions as back which makes the remote ridiculously hard to use!

Does anyone know of a way to re-enable right click in Oreo, or re-map mouse buttons? It is a very difficult term to google for. I imagine it should be possible with an accessibility, IME, overlay or USB driver app.

Ideally I'd also like to remap the left mouse button to press enter, as Netflix still doesn't accept it for clicking menu items. Disabling the mouse toggles the OK button between OK and left click.

On the plus side the voice input microphone now works in Oreo for voice search (the button doesn't though).

I've tried using External Keyboard Helper and Button Mapper, neither accept mouse as input. I couldn't find any way to configure Tincore Keymapper on Android TV.

Is there a way to get Netflix to update Trakt's watchlist on Android TV?

I have a Mi Box (oreo), I use Kodi sometimes to watch from my Emby server or through Placenta, and both update Trakt through the Kodi Trakt plugin. However I also use the Netflix Android TV app, which doesn't update Trakt's watchlist.

The Nvidia Shield is restrictive and pretty underwhelming. Am I missing something?

I mostly use Android boxes for Gaia/Incursion-type stuff thorough Kodi and IPTV through Perfect Player. I formerly had a Zidoo X9S which was perfect for the job but I left that with a friend who's not well.

I bought a Shield because it's mentioned a lot. I'm not particularly interested in gaming but I found the games on offer to be seriously lacking. Clustertruck for $15!? It's barely worth $5. The same applied to a lot of the other games and the fact that you have to pay a premium for Shield-optimised content is ridiculous. I have a PS4 so it's not a big deal, but for a box with games as a huge selling point it's pretty weak.

Is there any way to remove the Play store restrictions? I can't install Chrome, for example, which is important for getting Kodi add-ons. I've installed Puffin but it's not ideal.

Some apps have the new GDPR pop up about ads but without a mouse I can't click any of the responses! WTF? I happen to have an airmouse/keyboard combo but what about people who don't?

And the remote. How the hell does it not have a play/pause button? It's a real inconvenience in Kodi. I feel like I have to relearn how to use a remote too, which is pretty counter-intuitive.

I've had it for about two weeks now and am considering selling it and getting another Zidoo box. Am I missing something? I'm a very techy person but I really don't care enough about this product to start poking around. If I can root it and add a better launcer than maybe it'll work but I'm not happy about having to do that. Any/all help is appreciated!

Smooth External Playback for 4K HDR World Cup Streams with Patched Fox Sports App

Following up on:

h11ps://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/8qltha/new_hisense_tvs_with_android_tv_built_in_and_a/e0rf9ib/

My earlier efforts to make the Hisense Fox Sports 4K World Cup app available to all Android users: many of you said that the streams were a little bit laggy (and not due to the network)

I have updated the Fox Sports App with another patch which allows you to launch an external player. While VLC does not seem to work, MX Player with HW+ Decoding works perfectly. I have not tried Kodi or others, but as long as they support opening an Intent with an HTTPS m3u8 link it should work.

For MX Player: You must enable HW+ Decoding to be the default for network streams

Furthermore for owners of Hisense TVs and maybe other Android TV boxes, please try the following to get smoother playback: disabling "Motion enhancement", "Noise reduction", and "Digital noise reduction" in picture settings.

All other Android TV owners should probably set their refresh rate to 50hz, as that will match the broadcast content. FIFA uses European standards.

The patched app will be available to all of those that donated to finance me buying two Hisense TVs and all the effort that went into patching it. Please PM me for the updated APK for your device.

For those that did not donate, you can use the web browser method (I detailed it in the post linked above) to extract an URL and use ADB (or any other method) to open the URL with your favorite player, see h11ps://developer.android.com/training/app-links/deep-linking, it should work just fine but is less convenient. You can also pick up an older version of the app by seeing the previous post.

Update July 1st: Version 11 was released by Fox, and the patched version is available for those that donated. Earlier version remain available for everyone else.
